It's Grim Up North | Chapter 1 & 2

- First of all, quite disappointed to find out this is only "Chapter 1" of a story arc. I thought I was buying a full game, so feel a little bamboozled. - There are a lot of spelling and grammar and syntax errors throughout for a British game. Bit more QC would be very handy. - The music gets quite repetitive, but eh. + Cutesy charm for a very, very budget game. + Easy enough puzzle and P&C solving. + I enjoyed the English theme and setting. Overall, get this only on a sale AND if you really love your point and clicks. It's a little half-baked but to be fair, it's a budget game so they did what they could within the genre. I enjoyed my time with it. C+

I'm going to give this a recommend, I beat it in 2 sittings and it took 4.6 hours. I could have beaten it in 2 if some of the game logic... Worked as it's suppose to. I've used the same game engine as them previously, and there are a few issues in the game, like [spoiler]when you get the key from barker's because you got the Chavs away from his store, he'll still look and ask if you did it and tell you you won't get the key until you do, despite the fact you already have the key.[/spoiler] A lot of puzzles were easy to figure out but hard to trigger. [spoiler] For instance the track suit cannot be used on yourself, you have to trigger it's use by talking to a person. When you are interrogating patrons they mention things they are interested in that you can use for a faux charity scam, HOWEVER, for some reason the woman's trigger didn't flip until the 3rd time I ran through all her dialogue options. IT WAS PAINFULLY obvious a dance related charity would work, but it just wouldn't give me the option until I re-talked my way through all her dialogue options in order. VERY painful. Oh and the menu was very obvious after talking to the chef, but your dude just won't use it until randomly he finally saw the QR Code, but I clicked there dozens of times and it always said the same thing, no idea why it triggered differently. Just lots of little frustrating issues like that. [/spoiler] The engine just wasn't properly utilized. But the writing is good and the art is consistent. I enjoyed the game overall, it's funny, could use some voice overs, but it's fine the way it is too. I look forward to the next installment.

I have loved playing this so far; the Yorkshire dialect is spot-on regional. Yorkshire people will know it straight away lol. my favourite lines so far are: Listen Yaar!!! 'We run GD4 init !! It's all so Bradford, love it, Waqas so funny, Liam and Conner! Thanks, guys, for bringing it to life. Have to love Terry

It's Grim Up North is a wonderfully nostalgic point and click adventure game made with lots of character and cheeky Yorkshire humour! The game has you playing a retired police officer hunting down shape shifting aliens in a quaint Yorkshire town to the soundtrack of Coronation Street-esque brass music. There are so many fun cultural references and easter eggs to find that it warrants more than one play through to appreciate all the game has to offer. Be sure to check it out and tell your friends so we can see a part 2!

A solid point and click adventure game that feels pretty spot on for the stereotypical Yorkshire countryside life. There were a few good laughs and the game was cheap as chips. Worth playing if you are interested in point and click adventure games with turned based combat.

Fun nostalgic point+click adventure, puzzles are logical, and the local setting and references are a nice bonus. Would be good to see the formula expanded for future chapters.

Great game! Humour is well done and adventure puzzles aren't overly contrived from what i've played so far. Lots of love went into this game and it shows with all the dialogue and animations.
