About
Can you cook when nothing is given to you?
Isle of Food is an open-world cozy VR cooking game where cooking begins outside the kitchen. There are no ready-made ingredients or shortcuts. To cook, you must explore the island to hunt, fish, gather, and farm everything yourself.
Only what you bring back can be cooked. Each dish is prepared by hand using natural VR interactions, and your progress depends on how well you manage your stylish island restaurant.
The world shapes your menu, and your choices shape the experience.
✔ VR cooking with natural hand interactions
✔ 100+ real and fantasy recipes
✔ Multiple cooking methods: baking, boiling, frying, grilling
✔ Open-world island exploration
✔ Hunting, Fishing, Gathering, Farming
✔ Day–night cycle and dynamic weather
✔ Restaurant management, upgrades, decorations and progression
Isle of Food delivers a full hands-on VR cooking experience with simulation-level detail. You slice, fry, boil, bake and plate dishes using precise physical movements, crafting meals from 100+ recipes ranging from real-world classics to fantasy dishes made from rare island ingredients.
Every recipe begins with open-world island exploration. Ingredients must be found through activity: hunt wildlife, track birds, fish along the coast, gather fruits and herbs, or grow your own crops near the restaurant. A day–night cycle and shifting weather affect what appears and when, forming a core part of your cooking progression.
Guests set the pace of your restaurant management experience. Each day brings visitors with different tastes — from simple starter requests to complex dishes that require rare ingredients gathered across the island.
Service hours create a natural gameplay rhythm. Peak times reward fast, accurate cooking, while quieter moments let you restock, explore the island or prepare ahead. As your rating increases, guests become more varied and demanding, turning each service into meaningful progress in your VR cooking career.
You begin with a small seaside kitchen and a short menu. Serving guests earns money and experience that unlock new tools, expand your recipes, improve the restaurant interior and refine your overall management strategy.
Reaching the 7-star level is the ultimate milestone. Higher ratings bring tougher orders, stricter ingredient requirements and greater rewards, attracting premium guests who seek the rarest dishes the island can offer. From your first simple meals to a fully developed 7-star restaurant, Isle of Food builds a complete VR cooking adventure you can progress through at your own pace.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/5IFR_lUJuU0 This is a neutral recommendation. I love the concept of this game. I think this could be a great game in the future. However, right now, on Early Access release, it feels like Early Access and that's not good. Game has a ton of potential, however, it may not ever realize its potential. I would recommend only if you want to support development. I've never played a VR cooking simulation like this one. There's so many recipes. However, that's not the interesting part. The interesting part is getting all the ingredients. You'll hunt, gather, fish, farm in a giant open-world island. You have to stock up your restaurant. If a client orders an item and you don't have it in stock, guess what? You either go find it quick or you'll have an unhappy customer. It's a lot. I do wish that there was a more limited menu at the start. It's kind of crazy that customers will order items and you have no idea where the ingredient is on the island. It's just not worth it to go looking for it if you don't know where it is and some items don't show up until nighttime or when its raining. So you have to know the island and how to get each ingredient. It's hectic, but also cozy because nothing truly bad happens. You can just ignore customers and go out and explore. Of course, you will lose out on happy customers with money though. The game is very rough around the edges. I came across a game-breaking bug early on. The game wants you to buy a table and chairs. Little did I know that you had to buy a particular one. However, it's not apparent because it's not highlighted. You have a 1 in 3 chance of getting it right. Performance is also very rough. I was getting 90 to 30 fps on my RTX 5090. There are no graphical settings. You do have full locomotion. Smooth and snap turning. You can play comfortably seated with seated mode. You have distance grab as well as an option, along with comfort settings. Rate 5.5/10. I really hope the devs work on this and make it the best the possible experience because the idea / bones of the game is awesome.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. While I adore the concept, I just cannot recommend the game in its current state. The core, the ideas, and the mechanics are all there, but everything is implemented very poorly - almost every VR mechanic is janky and unpredictable. I can see that the game already has a lot of depth for a VR title (and it's currently the only game of such genre in VR), as well as a lot of creativity behind it. So I’m going to wait for better stability and bug fixes, because Isle of Food has a lot of potential. Also, a personal nitpick of mine - the sound design is lacking. It's kinda weird for a cooking game not to have boiling and sizzling/grilling sounds.
loved it. some issues that i'm sure devs are aware of but I enjoyed it :D
Pretty fun game I enjoyed it. If you're into cute and relaxing VR games, you'll probably like this one too. It's still pretty obvious that it's in Early Access though. Fishing and cooking both have a fair amount of bugs, and some things still need polishing. Hopefully the devs keep working on it because the game has a lot of potential.
Игра в активной разработке, в игру уже можно играть, но есть проблемы, которые решает небольшая студия из 3 человек, пытаются во всем разобраться и решить, не всегда быстро, но отвечают и пытаются понять проблему, жду дальнейшего развития The game is under active development, the game can already be played, but there are problems that a small studio of 3 people solves, they try to figure everything out and solve it, not always quickly, but they respond and try to understand the problem, I look forward to further development
好玩,但是有个NPC一直在桌边站着是bug吗?
