About

The world is dead. The state has collapsed. In a forgotten Eastern Bloc town, you are alone but not truly alone. Something stirs beyond the walls, and none of it means you well. You have only one reason to keep going: survive long enough to find your wife, Valeria. But in the cold and darkness of this unforgiving night, will you ever make it back to her?

In the hellish streets of this Eastern Bloc town, every bullet matters. There are ways to fight back, but survival demands more than firepower. Use the weapons at your disposal to clear a path, scavenge tools to overcome the obstacles ahead, and avoid unnecessary confrontations whenever you can.

Iron Blight aims to deliver an immersive gameplay experience built around atmosphere, vulnerability, and the crushing weight of isolation. Every bullet matters, and the sound of gunfire may draw even more horrors to your position. Even something as simple as opening a locked door demands thought. You must manage your food and medical supplies, move cautiously through the streets, and always consider what might be waiting around the next corner.
True Survival Horror Gameplay: Navigate desolate streets and claustrophobic interiors, where danger lurks around every corner. Solve puzzles and face the terrors that will force a choice: fight, flee, or die.
Resource Scarcity and Tension: Resources are scarce. Do you risk using your last bullet to take down a monster, or do you save it for a more critical moment and hope to slip past unnoticed?
Diegetic Grid-Based Inventory: Every single item matters, and space is a luxury you can't afford. Carefully manage your limited inventory grid, making agonizing choices about what to carry and what to leave behind.
No HUD, No Distractions: No health bars, no ammo counters, no intrusive menus. Every piece of information is conveyed through your character and the world around you. Your only interface is your own perception.
A Unique Weapon System: Check your magazines manually, round by precious round, and reload with deliberate, step-by-step actions. Every firefight becomes a tense test of your nerves and skill.
A Bleak and Oppressive Atmosphere: Rain-slick cobblestones and flickering fluorescent lights lead you deeper into a town that feels cold, hostile, and suffocating. The distant cries of things that should not exist echo through its desolate streets.
A Return to Forgotten Horror Traditions: Fear comes from the atmosphere, the gnawing uncertainty, and the constant presence of death. The story is told through the environment itself, and combat is a slow, methodical dance where every shot matters.

I'm usually too scared to play these kinds of games. But Iron Blight gets the balance between vulnerability and empowerment so right. Moments of nail-biting tension are punctuated by the loud crashing of gun fire, you move from crawling around dark alleyways scavenging for supplies to sliding out a magazine, checking your ammo and racking the slide, feeling like an absolute badass. What the game lacks in depth, it makes up for in polish and atmosphere. The sound design is for the most party absolutely brilliant. When walking slowly through an abandoned apartment complex, you can hear sounds of zombies shuffling about somewhere just on the other side of the wall, and it made me stop in my tracks to check if the sound of creaking floorboards was caused by me or something else. The guns are also incredibly satisfying to use, not just due to their sound and hit feedback, but also the entire weapon system, making you manually pump your shotguns, check magazines for ammo in between fights and treat your weapons like proper tools. The game is short, but for the price, it's a fantastic experience. There are also adjustable difficulty parameters depending on what kind of challenge you want. I'd highly recommend playing it on harder difficulties for hardcore survival horror fans, or somewhere in the middle for people like me who need a little more catharsis with their scares.
While I sort of enjoyed the game, I cannot recommend it as it is a bit too rough around the edges.
The game is a mix between Resident Evil and L4D. There is a limited inventory, but the game doesn't push you to manage your inventory too much, and you can easily kill every zombie as long as your aim is good enough. BUT there are so many shortcomings.
+ Pros

+ Action is solid, zombies can get gibbed, it didn't feel like they have i-frames and you always have a way to deal with them.
+ Ambience is nice. Sounds and lighting do a lot of heavy lifting here.
+ No tedious inventory management*: the limited inventory is only for meds, guns, and ammo. All tools and upgrades have their own unlimited inventory tab.

- Cons

- While I am okay with short games, I didn't like the pacing. Act 1 was too repetitive (in terms of level design and enemy types) and while Act 2 didn't have such problems, was too big to have a Metroidvania structure (you don't have the tool to get here go to other part of the town). Even the bicycle doesn't help, as means of fast travel as it: doesn't get far because of road blocks, you can not always find it.
- Melee combat is meh.
- When you need to use tools, you ALWAYS need to complete a long sequence that has animations between steps. You need to: 1) Press E to open inventory -> 2) Select the right tool -> 3) Press LMB to use the tool... Am I crazy to think that you should be able to do it in ONE BUTTON CLICK?
- *During Act 2 you are given many guns, and most of them have their own ammo type. Why not just make most of the guns as upgrades to later ones, like the DEV himself did with the shotgun??? Nah realistic ammo types are really needed in this game, right guys? It would be okay if we the we could pick the same guns again BUT it is only during small segment of ending in Act 2.
- Everything story wise, be it our character's reaction or the ending. Spoilers about the ending and some minor stuff:
In the end, when we finally get back to our wife, we see that she is infected, which I feel is too forced just for the sake of a sad story. Even the confrontation with the military at the end of Act 2 feels forced too.

Ok, so it's a pretty good game for the price. Short and simple. I did encounter some bugs, one severe one as well. The magnum revolver is broken currently and can only be fired once, then the animation breaks and requires you to unequip and reequip it to fire it again, making it worthless. This essentially made 20% of the game's ammo into paper weights. As I was playing the game on the hardest difficulty where ammo is so rare that I had to finish the game with kung-fu kicks to save on ammo, this was almost game breaking. The game didn't do anything new, but other than the one major bug, didn't do anything wrong either. I had fun playing it, and the price matched what I got out of it. So yes, I recommend it, but I suggest playing on hard or normal till the gun animation gets fixed.
