[h1] Blast from the past baby! [/h1] Ion Fury is basically a modern rendition of Duke Nukem 3D. Cheeky, one liner spitting protagonist, irredeemable enemies you get to bombastically (hehe pun intended) blow up, and pop-culture references from anywhere between the 80s and beyond, and it's a good time. [h1] The Good [/h1] This whole game is practically phenomenal with the level of attention of detail, fun, novel gameplay with your weapons, and is just over-all a love letter to the classic FPS games of yore. Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison is a contender for being quite like-able, given her plethora of inappropriate one-liners everywhere. She's just the right amount of camp and badass that she feels like she came straight out of some raunchy 80s action flick. Is she deep? No. Not really. It's a Duke Nukem love letter. She's got no more depth than him or even Doomguy for that matter. The OST has a few bangers, though they are heavily stylized. Map design is where the game takes the engine its built off of to its extremes. Its like taking the build engine, and removing all technical limitations it might've had before and just going balls to the wall with inter-actables, particle effects, textures, all of it. [h1] The Bad [/h1] Secrets are probably where the game falls short, because some of this stuff is convoluted as ♥♥♥♥. The first level is a perfect example of this, requiring the player to do some tricky, precise platforming in a section players would NEVER look up (and the map aint gonna provide no hints about this either), just so you can jump a gap on the other side of the beginning of the level...for a pop-culture reference...and some ammo but it's mostly for the reference. The game is filled with things like this, and one hand, sure, it's great there was a lot of thought put into these, but even basic secrets can be just as confusing or over-elaborate. A guide is almost necessary to find these unless you want to spend all day trying to find them on your own. The ending is lack-luster. It just kinda...ends, and the DLC isn't any better but it does provide a neat bossfight. [h1] The Ugly [/h1] The game isn't winning any awards for being revolutionary. Its more corridor shooty like classic doom, rather than taking full advantage of Shelly's movement tech, outside of a particular level that gives you an over abundance of the gameplay gimmick that would have set this game apart from that which inspired it. Yes, I'm talking about the jump boots. Shoulda been a base game unlock, and the whole game could have been built around it, and it would have been sick! Alas...it's just a power-up... You only have the campaign to play and a couple side-modes. Oh, and the DLC, which adds a flipped arrange mode and a harder difficulty. Otherwise, the game doesn't offer much else. Controller support is available, and the game plays decently, though it's a little awkward at first, since the jump button is tied to a trigger rather than a face button. It will win you over with time, but you'll have to get used to it. [h1] Conclusion [/h1] I found Ion Fury a captivating time, and though it has a handful of valleys, it's mostly peaks and impressive vistas. If you're looking for a classic FPS game that can scratch the old Doom/Duke Nukem 3D era vibes then this game is the game. Solid game, all things considered.

A fantastic throwback that runs smooth and plays great. It's a fast paced key grabbing boomer shooter that's definitely worth grabbing on sale.

This game rules. If you're a fan of '90s shooters like Duke 3D, Shadow Warrior, etc. you will love this game.

Bardzo dobra strzelanka jak z lat 90tych.Przyjemnie się gra więc pogram w inne tytuły oparte na tym silniku które ominąłem.Ktoś się postarał z tworzeniem poziomów.I nie jest krótka!Polecam.
