Good roguelite action. Was missing some variety before, but the devs have added new levels, weapons and bosses to the game, so now I can wholeheartedly recommend the game to all roguelike fans. Reading the enemy bullet patterns might take some time to get used to, but it will click after a while.
the game has a banging sound track and may be worth checking out for that alone My initial review of the game was somewhat negative, due to the RNG having trouble deliving the powerup that made the game reliably fun; with the new update that allows you to favourite select abilities, causing them to show up reliably; this was exactly what I wanted, thank you devs For posterity; There's this issue that some games have where you unlock things and the game goes from manageable to completely unreliable; you're initial few power up options are damage, attack speed, wider lock on, pickup radius and maneuverability. these are all decent selections; later you can unlock 'may stun enemies', 'smaller ship', 'faster super recovery', 'may launch a missile', 'periodic grenade', 'slow-inducing projectiles', 'may make enemies exlpode on hit', 'first hit causes more damage on subsequent hits', 'companion damage reduced in exchange for main damage increase', 'drasticly slower attack for greatly increased damage', 'buff to damage when out of shields', as well as others... but all of the unlocks dilute the pool and can't be turned off, so you'll play eight runs before you get loot radius in the first couple options and it is ABSOLUTELY the most important power up, bar none. with loot radius up in two of the first five selections I can be level 14 for the first boss, and without it I'm level 7 (using the two increase enemy spawn tapes) However the june 17, 2025 update fixed this as far as I'm concerned
Interstellar Plunderer is a fun and comfy game that you can easily pickup and play. It has an arcade style and it's a great game to play on the Steam Deck. Will plunder again <3
Unavoidable ♥♥♥♥♥ propaganda in the developer logo. Hard pass
Interstellar Plunderer reminds me of Starfox if it was a roguelike. I'm not a big fan of roguelikes but id give this name a 7/10
interstellar plunderer isn’t going to change the way you see the world it’s not a cinematic masterpiece it’s a s rougelite inspired by star fox and man is this game FUN the gameplay is super simple but you’ll never get to a point where you feel like your just doing the same thing over and over and over i’ve played for a while and i can confidently say that i enjoyed every single hour i spent playing interstellar plunderer every single one and if you like rougelites you’re bound to enjoy it too!
Gameplay video: https://youtu.be/Qs2x2PACDYc I like this. It feels pretty casual, and I definitely wish there was a bit more variety in the different power-ups you can receive as you play. But, overall it's the kind of game you can jump into for 5-15 minutes and have a good time with, which I like. I'm somewhat disappointed in how little there feels to be in the various upgrades during your runs. Few weapons, and a lack of meaningful speed boosts/weapon strength means most runs feel pretty identical. The level up system for permanent upgrades encourages you to save up your space crystals in order to purchase new ships, which I have mixed feelings about. I think it's fine overall, but as I'm investing quite a bit into the starter ship I have far less incentive to really jump into another. Overall it's a fun title that I've enjoyed so far. I don't think it's going to be a game that gets any considerable amount of playtime out of me, as the gameplay loop never really reaches a point of "I can't wait to do this again." It's just a constant flow of "Cool."
After a few runs through i realized I was having alot of fun!. Great game. Challenging. Hard Bosses! Affordable and a good time!!
One of my favorite game genres is bullet hells or arcade shooters. I love the feeling of dodging thousands of bullets, the challenge, and the usually short and sweet pick-up-and-play gameplay. I'm also a big fan of retro stylings, from 8-bit to 64-bit; I love them all. I love my shmups. Interstellar Plunderer scratches that "I miss Star Fox" itch. I recently played it on stream and enjoyed the heck out of it. It features a few ships to unlock and choose from, with skins for every ship, a leveling system, and an easy-to-learn control scheme that's easy to learn but hard to master. Honestly, I struggled a bit when it came to understanding certain mechanics. However, I was able to get all the achievements during my stream, so once you learn it, it becomes easier. As I mentioned before, Interstellar Plunderer scratches the Star Fox itch. To me, it feels like if Star Fox and Vampire Survivors had a baby. It is an amazing experience. You have several enemies to dodge, with bullet types that keep each run entertaining and interesting. During each level, you have a "miniboss" of sorts in the form of an event. During this event, you can encounter an asteroid field, enemies from different zones invading your zone, or a ship shooting cannonballs at you. It can be pretty hectic. The further you go in the game, the harder it gets, but you level up frequently and get upgrades to help you get through the levels. The game is endless, so you can go as long as you can until you run out of shields. One thing I would love to see in a future update is Twitch integration. I'd love for Twitch chat to help or hinder, select your cards, or choose the upcoming events. It would make the game interactive with streamers. I could already see myself getting assaulted by random enemies or having a random boss appear in the middle of the stage. Overall a wonderful Experience! Cant wait to see more!
Very fun little game! The game is a roguelike inspired by the graphics and gameplay of starfox 64, delivering on an easy to pick up and play score based game thats both challenging and satisfying. It also has charming snes3d like graphics that are very easy to read even when you reach higher speeds! For the price the game asks you there really isn't anything to complain about imho
