intergalactic taxi co. has you transporting all sorts of weird aliens between planets. it's turn-based, without the stress of real-time gameplay, which kept me away from the likes of mini metro and every train conductor or similar game ever (except traffic on the c64, that was neat). it's a very simple thing, the general idea is akin to space taxi or ugh! (you'll remember them if you're old enough), except this is more puzzly than arcade. there are a bunch of planets with creatures and their desired destination, connected via space routes. each dot on a line consumes one piece of fuel, your cab can hold 4 passangers and has 3 fuel initially, with the occasional chance to refuel once at certain locations. figure out the path that won't get you stranded in space on 100 levels, unlocked one by one, the end. luckily, there's a bit more to it, though nothing new after level 60-something. eventually fuel capacity gets increased to allow more complex levels and inevitable portals get introduced, along with a couple of planets with their own mechanics (the early ones are just cosmetic). ufos move around turn by turn, potentially getting in your way, and the bus is another vehicle for you to control (and move out of the way), weirdly with the same capacity as the taxi. a london cab would've been more fitting, not that I'm looking for realism in video games. and while levels are pretty short, it's not as absolutely necessary as in some other games, but undo would still be nice. controls are mouse-based with a few hotkeys. well, there's esc for the pause menu, 'r' to restart the level and 'h' for the hint function. an icon to bring up the menu to make it 100% mousable would be preferable. speaking of hints, the button is only available at the start of the level, which I've seen in some other games. basically, it can feed you the whole solution step by step if you want, but only from the beginning, it's not smart enough to check if you're on the right track so far. great audiovisual presentation, except switching between the two vehicles always honks their horns, very annoying. separate volume settings, windowed mode, resolutions, on-screen level numbers, so all the necessities are present. settings are available in the pause menu, level select isn't, but quitting goes there, not the main menu, so it's fine. as basic as the gameplay is, it's pretty cool overall, though not much of a difficulty curve or difficulty in general. some levels near the end are as trivial as something from the beginning, with a few tricky puzzles here and there, but they're mostly just annoying because there's no undo. without it I can't recommend it at full price, but might be worth checking out on sale if you're looking for something like this.
Absolutely lovely! Most puzzles are easier than they look (which is great for making me feel smart). I find it relaxing, challenging and atmospheric in all the right ways.
This game is really great! The care put into the levels, sound and graphics is awesome! Great job Rocking Donkey, hope to see more of your stuff!
6/10 nice little relaxing puzzle game with 100 levels the game added a hint button, its not really a hint button tho. it makes the next move for you. you can just press this the entire time until you win the level,,,
Great puzzle game, lollable anecdotes from the passengers and overall great atmosphere and game design. But my favourite part is when I got Rick rolled.
Intergalactic Taxi Co. is a very well made game with some nifty puzzles. But keep in mind they are simple and so they're fairly easy. Because of their design there are a limited amount of ways to complete the puzzle. Which is what makes them easier to complete. Since you only have to try a few variations before learning the puzzle. It's not a bad thing but a design choice you should be aware of. Note that the game gives you endless hints. If you can't help yourself then it's bad but if you absolutely don't want to get stuck then it's good. If you're looking for something small and casual then yeah this is a 100 solid levels and I recommend it.
