I really wanted to like this game because I love shooters like this, but it just feels unpolished and has too many little frustrations. Upgrades are uninspired and cost WAY too much to max out requiring a lot of grinding. It seems there are so many bonuses and upgrades that should obviously be included, but aren't for some reason. I can overlook little UI issues (Why does the audio volume range from -1% - 104%?), but it just gets repetitive and becomes a grind. I quit near the end once I got to a slow escort mission that would require a slow grind to upgrade my ship to finish. I got my $6.00 worth and had fun for a little while as I sipped my coffee over a few mornings, and I'll check out the developer in the future for anything else they're working on.
The previous version of the game before the update was far too difficult and not so appealing even if you are a shoot em up fan, But now the game as been updated i can honestly say its very playable and Awesome, great Art work 16 bit style well better actually, Lots of cool stages & missions to overcome, good controls, plenty of various power ups and drones to help you fight against the Alien conflict and to aid you through out the battle, i will point out the stage 3 boss a medium sized red ship i think it takes far too much punishment than intended i almost thought it was invincible, great work guys..Loving the new update...Both thumbs UP...Buy this game and have lots of fun :)

Great Game !! Been waiting forever for a side-scrolling shooting game to be made with UPGRADES, Shields, Health, etc, to be able to play and not 'die-in-one-hit', like typical schmups etc, This game has upgradable stats, selectable weapons, missions that require different types of goals, etc Amazing !! This game is a perfect example of why a person might actually want to stay on steam even though most steam games are total trash / shovel-ware and / or total cash-grabs, To see games like this where people obviously love gaming and try to make 'new' and better hybrid genres that combine the best of 'both worlds', - in this case action and rpg elements, replayability, upgradability etc, Also note the music is fantastic and fits the game perfectly. The graphics are a bit 'basic', but they're 'good enough', this is the perfect type of game to make further sequels of with improved graphics, bigger scope etc, it's a total winning formula. Unfortnately, it will probably get nowhere near the accolades it deserves, lost in the shuffle of all the steam trash out there, but definitely if you want a side-scrolling shooter that doesn't burst your blood vessels from frustration but actually is a 'fun', relaxing (yet tense and intense) ride to enjoy that totally gives "actually great gaming" vibes - this is it. (Note this developer done a top-down twin-stick which is really fun and is also working on a side-scrolling twin-stick (which is another super-fun genre), Definitely support this dev this guy is no-nonsense actually fun gaming like retro games used to be, but with modern day quality of life features, One of the top 5 devs out there I look forward to all he does and hope he keeps pushing a higher standard ! Great Work !!
An Unremarkable Space Shooter That Offers More Grind Than Fun
INSPACE 2980 is one of those games that isn’t outright terrible, but it’s also very hard to recommend. Unless you’re absolutely desperate to play every space-themed bullet hell on Steam, there’s not much here that stands out. The main thing I can praise is the weapon variety. Different weapons feel distinct enough, and you can experiment with different strategies depending on the mission. That part is genuinely decent. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. After a few missions, the game started giving me a strange visual drift effect. I’m not sure whether it’s caused by the scrolling background, enemy movement, or the overall pacing, but whenever I looked away from the screen, everything around me seemed to drift to the right. I’ve played plenty of bullet hell games and never experienced anything like this before. It became genuinely annoying. I’m also not a fan of the red downgrade pickups. They feel like a pointless punishment for playing aggressively at close range, especially when using the lightning weapon. Instead of encouraging interesting risk-reward decisions, they mostly discourage a more active playstyle. Another issue is readability. Enemy bullets and collectible resources are not outlined clearly enough, and in hectic fights they can easily blend together. For a bullet hell game, that’s a pretty significant problem. But the biggest flaw is the progression system. I reached the second-to-last mission on the lowest difficulty and simply couldn’t complete the objective where you have to protect a ship. It didn’t seem to matter whether I destroyed every enemy I could see or deliberately tanked projectiles—the ship still got destroyed and the mission failed. The game’s apparent solution is to replay earlier missions over and over to grind upgrade resources. That quickly turns into a chore. What makes it worse is that I’m already near the end of the campaign, yet my ship upgrades aren’t even halfway completed. The resources earned from normal mission completion are simply not enough. I finished my time with this game feeling more annoyed than entertained. The game is pretty good, there is a good progress system with neat upgrades, and some useful active skills. The interesting thing in this game, that stages have "objectives" so its not enough to get to the end of the stage. Sometime u have to collect X number of materials, destroy X enemy ships, turrets... or.... OR.... or escort a friendly ship. ESCORT A TRASHY SHIP WITH A SCREEN SIZED HITBOX through a 10 minute stage with meteors, rockets, enemy ships and everything... the ship has 100 hp, and every impact damages 10. Thats 10 crash, and u done. Boi... i couldn't rage more how imbalanced that stage is, not even on the lowest difficulty its real... The problem is, until this point the game was fair, it needed very little grind if u were good... now? I cannot even see if the grind will help in any way... Oh, and i just read another negative rewiev from 2018.... and the guy mentioned the same problem on the same stage, and also left the game becouse of that frustration... So, after 4 years, they did not touched it, even after the feedbacks. Also, after 50 time on that stage, i started to hate the game, which is bad, becouse it has good points. I don't even think, the developer will update this game, becouse R_Games just released a new game, so... maybe it stays broken. I will change my opinion after a reasonable update on that difficulty.
The game has menu problems that make it UNPLAYABLE at all past level 2. Strangely, the demo did not have this problem. The developer has had a long time to fix the problem, but it appears he's promoting some other game now.
