You are Joseph Walker. After waking up in a strangely deserted science facility with no recollection of how you got there, you hear the voice of an A.I. The A.I. promises to be your guide and to help you out of the facility. However, it is clear right away that it’s not telling you everything.

I got up to chapter 8 where the game then froze and crashed on the loading screen. It's not bad overall, you can have some fun with it. It's just a run of the mill retro FPS. Decent soundtrack and narrative. Few issues though that make it subpar. You'll randomly get black screens that require you to press space to continue. There is also no settings menu at all, so you can't rebind the default interact key from enter. Why on the Earth the interact key is on the other side of the keyboard is beyond me. You also spawn in each level with the wrench no matter what. With how many retro shooters are out there you should just go play a better one.
Summary

[th]Category[/th] [th]Perception[/th]

Level design Very straight forward with a few optional rooms and corridors to find supplies

Art Boring, sterile environments lacking details, decals and effects. UI is really bland and each weapon have a poorly cropped jpeg picture in the upper right corner

Sound design Bad sound design. Lack of music variety

Story Tries staying mysterious at first, but then gets bored of itself and reveals the twist in a single cutscene. The AI you're getting aid from can not tell you much at first. Then all of a sudden, it can. Overall poor pacing of the story.

Gameplay Run and shoot type of gameplay with the occasional key or button finding

Bugs/glitches Frequent crashes. cutscenes randomly stop working, you can reload many of the guns even while the magazine is full, ammo counter and how much you're actually firing are not synced on guns such as the SMG, enemies can glitch through walls, shooting your ally in the last level crashes the game

Other issues Horrific and random recoil. The SMG for example, is less effective than the shotgun because having some distance from an enemy will make you hit everything but the enemy you're aiming at. Game also does not have headshot damage and the moment you get a new gun, pretty much all other guns become useless, except for the grenade launcher, that weapon is useless to begin with since it takes so long to reload and sometimes can't kill a simple enemy with one hit

Length I finished the game in less than 2 hours. That includes retrying levels due to crashes. A level can be as short as ~2 minutes, so you're going to see loading screens a lot

Worth it? No

Conclusion
Unless you really want those trading cards, or want to get this game as part of a bad games collection, I would certainly not recommend this one. It's a buggy mess. Getting a game over meant all cutscenes stopped working and the next level would surely crash. I got so used to crashes I ended up saving right before I finished a level just in case it would crash while loading. There are two enemy types in the entire game. Brain dead (but insanely accurate) soldiers, and one necropmorph reject. Not the worst game I have ever played, but it's definitely high up on the list. If the bugs were fixed, it would be a mediocre FPS. Now it's unfortunately a mess.
Short summary: Insincere is fun old-school style FPS game which suffer from some production quality.

Story: B-movie quality. Average sci-fi setting, below average story, uncompelling character and uneven pacing. While there are few unexpected twist, lack of good build up reduce the "wow factor". You could complete everything in about 1.5 - 2 hours. Gameplay: Just what you expect from old-school style FPS game. Although there's lack of throwable grenade and armor mechanics. The difficulty is just right for those who want to feel like super human. There are good amount of healing item and generous amount of ammo (i have about 1K handgun/SMG ammo at end of the game). The AI is unbalanced, sometimes the enemy stuck, ignore your attack for few second or shoot as soon they see you from long distance which could raise sudden "Game Over". Visual/Audio: Overall average/nothing special from old-school style FPS game. However voice acting is bad and there's no subtitle when someone is speaking during gameplay which give major trouble for non-native English speaker. While the cutscene has subtitle, it has very low framerate (i guess 15 FPS or lower). Technical issue: Few users report they experience error/bug on Windows 10. For reference, this game use engine "FPS creator" which intended for Windows XP and the developer said he use Windows 7 during development. For Steam Deck or Linux user, this game isn't playable not run out of the box. I had to perform fair amount of testing before obtaining playable experience (head to ProtonDB if you want to know my config), even so there are some problems remain. Verdict: If you're looking for old-school style FPS game, you might want to try this game. But wait until this game costs $1 or less during sale. Additionally, make sure you test the game immediately, so you can request refund in case you encounter technical issue (which won't be fixed). Disclaimer: This review should be taken as neutral/informational. Steam doesn't provide such option, so i chose positive because i had fun with this game.
👍
A Half Life wannabe at best, a giant letdown overall. For the price, it's decent, but it's an incredibly barebones and buggy boomer shooter that barely functions, crashing randomly. Not even worth a sale price honestly.
Érdemes újraindítani 20 percenként a játékot.
