good

This was a whole different experience than Limbo, and I'd like to take the liberty to compare it to what happened with Subnautica and its counterpart Below Zero. Like Below Zero, Inside tries to do more, but does the wrong things more. There are new puzzle types and environments. Those are not the problem. The problem is the lore, or rather lack of it. Limbo is a known term/place to us, so just the title suffices as explanation roughly where we are, and the game also tells us through two sequences why we are here, no dialogue needed. This goes out the window in Inside. You don't know where you are, or why. And it's never explained, even though the environment is much more detailed than Limbo. You just end up with more questions the further you go. And yes, you can argue this is intentional, but in my opinion this suffers from the same issue as BZ: Limbo set the bar so high, that Inside has issues delivering the same level of quality. Not to mention the ending, which is a complete bellyflop. It's just nothing, and the game amounts to nothing. Why? (also arguably very gross final section of the game.) And the secret ending doesn't save that either, 1) because it's a secret and 2) it still doesn't answer or explain anything, and is hardly an ending at all. Inside is not a bad game, but it fails to hit the sweet spot of how little a game needs to say and not say. Sadly can't recommend.
