Inside the Mirror is a story written and illustrated with love and soul. A beautiful tale of the struggles it takes to overcome & emerge through grief and sadness. I started off with my typical review template when I sat down with this game. Half way through the novel I scrapped my review and realized breaking apart this novel into chunks was a mistake. Over analyzing the novel was not doing it justice. It needed to be written at the end of my experience and as a whole body of work. Yes, feature wise it is bare bones, no manual saves and really no settings. The artwork is gorgeous and the soundtrack beautiful but it is the story that is the heart of this kinetic novel. The store description really does not do the heart of this story justice. The depth of the writing, the artwork that brings the story to life are simply magical and heartbreaking. Anyone who has dealt with real tragic grief will understand the main character, Yumi. I am not going to spoil the story here in my review, it has to be experienced and I recommend going in blind. It is a story that is heartbreaking and sad but not without wisps of hope and light. Traversing through extreme grief and sadness, struggling to remember who you are, letting the pain change you and learning to heal. If it is based on a true story then my heart goes out to the devs. Hopefully they found some peace and healing while making this novel. It is truly a beautiful gift told through grief and heartache. ❤️ Thank you to my wonderful friend for such a thoughtful gift.
Please follow our curator page, Otome Lovers, if you'd like to see more reviews like this one! So sad but beautiful game. Made me cry and heartbroken. *crying :(
Inside The Mirror is a short but interesting visual novel. Yumi's older brother disappeard a few years ago and some time afterwards her parents divorced. As the date of her brother's disappearance comes closer again, Miyu is haunted by nightmares and ends up in a fight with her only close friend. That night, she is invited by her mirror self Miyu to a journey into her forgotten memories. Pro: + Original art + Good soundtrack which fits the scenes very well. Neutral o The story is good, but there aren't any really unexpected twists. Many things are foreshadowed if you can read between the lines or know similar stories. Con: - No free saving (the game autosaves at the start of chapters and you can load the chapters starts, but it doesn't tell you when it saves) - Relatively short. You can easily play read through it in one and a haf hours. But still worth it's price. - Text speed cannot be changed - No text log Other notes: No voice-over The game is the result of a Kickerstart campaign.
Ahh i finished the game crying inside TvT... Tho the story seems short but it wan an interesting journey! It might seem slow at first, with some confusions but things will make sense once you reach to the final arc :") i really loved the calm soundtracks that helped playing with my emotions in certain scenes~ Tho there are some scenes that i wished to have its full illustration to capture it, and at some other scenes, it missed some consistency, along with some tinyy UI glitches, but i loved the choice of words and the way they described emotions ;^; and of course, the illustrations were very beautifully made! i had to pause sometimes to stare at the details~ i've always admired Pluvias's artworks, and she did a great job here as well as all the illustrators who worked on this project! thank you for this experience <3 will be waiting to any future projects you make ^^
Wholesome and heartfelt. It's a very short, kinetic visual novel. There aren't any fancy bells and whistles here. Just a simple story about a family caught in a strange moment, one that's cracked and frayed because of decisions. The writing can be a little bit obtuse, and it felt like there were a few plot threads I would have liked to get resolved. But given the scale of the game, it's not too big of a deal. The conclusion is full, while the individual scenes are very dramatic and evocative, which is good enough on its own. The music is also nice, and although the art isn't stunning by any means, it's pretty and serviceable. All in all, this is just nice. It's a pity more people haven't played it. People who likes introspective, heavier, broodier stories about family, siblings, divorce, and coping with loss will really enjoy this. And clocking in at little over an hour, it's a nice chance to wade into an emotional story without any deep commitment.
oh boy, i've played tons of VN, but this is a compact and impressive one. yes, a bunch of tears, so it means its approved hahahaha, definitely worth it.
Inaide the mirror is a nice short emotional visual novel that hit me hard for reasons the developwe wasn't attending to be. I recommend it for all fellow visual novel fans.
