INDIKA is a third-person, story-driven game set in a strange world where religious visions clash with harsh reality. It tells the story of a young nun who sets off on a journey of self-discovery with the most unusual, horn-headed companion by her side.
On the outside, Indika seems to be a typical nun attempting to adjust to a difficult and monotonous monastery life. Humble and innocent in her appearance, do not be deceived as this young girl has also made a highly unlikely acquaintance—as she speaks with the devil himself.

Indika’s unusual connection with the Evil One leads her on an errand beyond the safe walls of the monastery. The world she discovers can only be described as a wild combination of comedy and tragedy straight out of the novels by Dostoyevski and Bulhakov.
The subjects of religion and authority are prevalent throughout Indika’s journey and she’ll be faced with many questions along the way. Guide her to find the answers one by one before she can finish her life-defining odyssey.
Odd Meter is a small, independent studio formerly based in Moscow and now operating out of Kazakhstan. Its members put aesthetics at the forefront and aren’t afraid to tread the fine line of ethical norms. Their game is a great testament to that, as INDIKA constitutes an open challenge to the industry's established approach to creating video games.

You're not ready for the journey you go through in this game. There's a lot better left unsaid, because going through it is how you really feel the impact. When the credits rolled, I knew it was already part of my favorites. It's just the right amount of length to drive the point without wasting time, this gets a glowing recommendation from me.
Rough indie game experience, and a misinterpreted Russian Black Comedy

short experience with straightforward puzzles and platforming
flashback sequences are presented with a 2.5D retro aesthetic, with the aesthetic being a novel way to present climactic reveals - however, the upbeat visual style doesn't mesh quite so well with the dark subject matter
the story tries to explore its philosophical underpinnings within both the game design and the writing, but falls flat twice.
from a game design perspective, there are a few opportunities where the interplay of morality and temptation is used in the puzzle solving, however the overall gameplay is disjointed from the themes as a whole. piety is pointless, given the circumstances of the character; you technically have the option of not playing a la Spec Ops: The Line, but at no point in the game is there a "point of no return" choice; for some reason, platformer rage games are also "important" to the story in spite of adding nearly nothing to the story's themes or writing.
writing has two issues. the first is discussing is-ought problems of religion, which may be new for games but not for writing as a whole. the second failing is the use of young characters that argue theoretically, and without substance that comes from experience.
Indika is written like a made for TV film. the whole story seems to take off from a single absurd event, after which the story becomes a form of macabre wish-fulfilment using archetypal characters. good luck trying to determine character motivations from having so many unreliable narrators
runs acceptably from a technical perspective, but has odd framerate drops when loading new areas
checkpointing system basically doesn't exist - you can find significant chunks of playtime deleted if you quit to menu in the middle of a chapter, but the game is short and cutscene skipping is easy
softlocking bug for one puzzle that required a level restart - thankfully this caused less than a minute of progress loss
disappointing soundtrack that makes use of grungy beats for 'edgy' moments, and nothing much else
to the game's credit, no yellow paint is used to guide progression
a tough recommendation even on sale
Behem hry navic odhaluje minulost hlavni postavy. 2d pixel minihry do te atmosfery moc nepasovaly.
A philosophical fever dream is probably the best way to describe this game. I found the idea of the nun and the devil really interesting and it was the main reason why the game caught my attention in the first place. Unfortunately I felt like the concept could have been explored much further. Visually though, I thought the game was genuinely impressive. Especially later on there are some really creative designs and interesting changes to the environment that I enjoyed a lot Unfortunately the game didn’t manage to fully deliver on all of its interesting ideas. Especially towards the end I was a bit disappointed. The ending came very suddenly and didn’t really feel satisfying to me. Even so, it is still a very interesting and unique game with some really great ideas. It just didn’t quite manage to reach its full potential in my opinion.

Sorry, can't find anything positiv about it - apart maybe from the (suprisingly) superb voice acting. Otherwise, it's an asset-flip trash: looks nice thanks to the engine, but has no substance. Painfully slow, no relevant gameplay, and even as a walking simulator it barely scores points, also due to the fact that the underlying narrative can only considered deep or thought-provoking if you haven't ever read a book. Can't even entertain from a "whacky/fever dream"-POV, as there was only a single wtf-moment (which was coincidentally also featured in the trailer) and the out-of-place video game elements (level ups, points) don't go anywhere. All in all, it was that boring and uninteresting that I couldn't be bother to finish it - despite it's short runtime of about four hours. Definitly not worth any time or money of yours. If like me you're initially intrigued by the untouched cloister-setting and the time periode - just watch the first level on yt to get over that initial curiosity, because the "game" never really evolves from those first minutes.
Eh, it's alright. Only about 3-4 hours of story. The puzzle are fun, but few. The story is ok. Honestly you wouldn't miss much watching a gameplay video.
Indika starts off atmospheric and intriguing and sets itself up well for an enthralling conclusion. Unfortunately it falls short in most ways. The story eventually becomes extremely bizarre and somewhat difficult to follow. The puzzles and 8-bit interludes are janky and frustrating. The themes it attempts to explore also become pontificatory and challenging to sit through.
