Oh my god, no. Not just no, ♥♥♥♥ no. From the start of this game, I have absolutely no idea what's going on. You just have to kinda guess a lot and hope for the best. Also things take a VERY LONG TIME to build up. Need ore? Good, wait. How do you get more ore? Work that out for yourself. (Edit to be more helpful: Get more miners, they don't just give you stone, each farmer, woodcutter and miner have byproducts. The game doesn't tell you this, but I will.) This game gives you zero explanation for anything. How do you trade? The game isn't going to tell you how to do that. (When you unlock ocean exploration, you just move your cursor over areas and you can click on other islands to trade on them, but the game tells you nothing.) There's an achievement for getting 400 score. I literally have no idea how to get score, there's no indicator on the screen and I looked on the forums... Nobody else seems to know either. The rarest achievement is to get 100 gold. I've been playing for 12 days, I've got 5 gold. The nearest island to me keeps asking for ore, which as I mentioned earlier, takes AGES to get. I have over a 100 miners, Ore is still just not happening. There's combat... it's some weird RNG thing where if you just have a lot of soldiers and upgrades for them, maybe it'll work out, I guess. I've not tried it yet. Because I want to get the gold achievement first. That's going to take time. People just seem to die, dunno why that's happening, guess they're just dead now. The game has text that comes up to tell you what's going on, it's red, there's no background and it fades away. I was highlighting the fog of war to read it better, but now that I can explore that, I can't use it anymore... so let's hope nothing important is ever said. "A new path was cleared through the forest." I have no idea what this means, game. Prince Leif wants 349 ore. Or is it 849? I cannot tell Because the font is ♥♥♥♥ and 3's and 8's look basically identical. Speaking of Prince Leif, his island has a population of 13. Now... I question all monarchies, but I especially have to question.... who is he exactly the prince of? There are upgrades that cost gold that increase how much you can trade at one time. Except.... Even if I maxed out every storage on every available slot, there's no way I could ever possibly have 20810 leather and 4975 metal. Just to get 20 gold, after waiting presumably decades for that amount to build up. Many buildings don't fit on tiles properly. So I just built a storage facility next to my city. Majority of the tile is empty, the facility is sticking into my city instead. Speaking of the City. It's not one. It looks like a big manor house. I have some sick population.... No idea what to do about that, guess they'll get better or not, Wish they'd die faster, it's faster to replace dead people than sick people. Which is pretty sick to be honest. Through a little trial and error, I worked out that ore goes down if you build blacksmiths, this does make sense to be fair. If you have more miners you get more ore. If you have more farmers and woodcutters, you get more leather and herbs. It might seem obvious, but I'm running purely on guess work here. The game doesn't have any tutorials or anything. Ultimately, this game costs money, but even if it were free I'd recommend against it. It's terrible, it doesn't tell you what is going on, there's no options other than Whether to toggle full screen, or to turn up the sound or music. I've muted both because Quite frankly, if you're going to play this anyway. You need to watch tv at the same time, to do otherwise is just masochism. Thank you for reading, or skipping to the end, I did type a lot about this total nothing about a game. Have a lovely day. <3
less than an hour to beat. kinda cute. needs more content though.
Short but fun game. A couple of tips that don't seem to be explained. After building places for people to live, you have to click the menu on the left to let them settle. It costs food. You can click to select a tile to auto-click it, or you can spam click... I spent too much time waiting for auto-clicks. xD If you're coming from the demo, restart steam before you start the game, and make sure your store page says the achievements exist. My first playthrough didn't trip achievements, I think because I played the Demo, then bought the game and restarted, but you keep your progress. Some weird glitch in the Steam overlay I think, considering restarting Steam was the fix. The goal is to speedrun conquering the other islands. Building a port lets you find them. You have to do a few trades for gold to unlock conquest before you can take them over.
Abandoned as soon as it was released. Desperately needs a mini map, gets boring scrolling the maps with WASD keys looking for all the islands to conquer. I spend the last 30 minutes looking for the last island. Always out of metal and leather. Can't imagine anyone wanting to play to get to 100 gold. Getting 15 gold took me 3 hours and you only get gold from trading. Often times they want a higher trade then you can actually store. Otherwise was a fun game.
Nice game :)
