I reluctantly recommend this game for the following reasons: The story was interesting, if not very deep. The graphics are good and the fighting mechanics are nice. The music was pleasant. Lots of save spaces - and you need them! What I didn't like: It is a "to be continued" game The game is mostly made up of tons of mazes You have to fight enemies every 6 or 7 steps - this can be frustrating/boring when trying to work your way through a maze and you have to back track, a LOT. You can get to the end game screen before you have even fought all the big bosses or been able to purchase upgraded weapons. There are not a lot of upgrades you can get and at one point, you can't even buy potions to up your MP anymore. NPCs are oblivious to the success you have had except in a very few cases. No achievements. All that being said, the reason I am recommending is because I got it for $1.99 and it was a fun 8 hours of play time. Don't buy it unless it is on sale.
In Vitra is a pretty average JRPG. I have some mixed feelings about the game, but I enjoyed it in general, so I'd like to recommend it. What I liked about it: + nice little story with a lot potential for the future (sequel) + the characters were likeable + a surprising twist + classical combat / linear storyline + no bugs, controller was working just fine On the downside: - rather short, it took me about 8 hours and I'm more of a slow player - a little pricey for the actual amount of play time - no real replay value
I received this game because I'd funded the developers' Kickstarter for a much more unique game, one about the rise of magic and featuring a magic system about experimentally combining emotions and intent to discover spells. That project completely fell through, and instead we got this. I played it briefly and saw the bog-standard Final Fantasy / RPG Maker combat system, which has bored me since the 1990s. Nothing else including the story stood out for me in the early game (young person fights some monsters to death in a wilderness near the beloved peasant village to get a herb or something), so I lost interest quickly. So, this is a downvote from me, but you might discount that because I didn't play it for long and I know that the developers had a much cooler idea than this.
In Vitra is a fantasy role-playing adventure that draws heavily from the traditions of classic Japanese RPGs, combining top-down exploration, strategic turn-based combat, emotional storytelling, and a richly detailed fantasy world filled with danger, mystery, and ancient secrets. Set within the peaceful but fragile lands of Vitra, the game presents a world that has only recently recovered from years of devastating conflict against terrifying monsters that once threatened all civilization. After generations of suffering and war, the people of Vitra finally begin rebuilding their lives, believing the nightmare has at last come to an end. Villages slowly recover, trade routes reopen, and ordinary citizens dare to hope for a peaceful future once more. That fragile peace is shattered when a mysterious illness suddenly begins spreading across the land. What first appears to be an isolated sickness quickly develops into a deadly plague capable of infecting entire communities without explanation. Fear spreads rapidly among the people as healers and priests fail to discover a cure. Rumors, panic, and uncertainty begin consuming towns already weakened by years of conflict. The plague does not behave like any ordinary disease, and whispers soon emerge suggesting that something far darker may be hiding behind the outbreak. The story follows a young boy named Noa whose personal life becomes deeply affected when his grandmother falls victim to the mysterious illness. Desperate to save her and unwilling to sit helplessly while the disease continues spreading, Noa joins forces with his loyal friend Luke to search for answers beyond the safety of their home. What begins as a simple journey to find medicine soon transforms into a dangerous expedition across the vast world of Vitra as the two friends slowly uncover disturbing truths connected to the plague’s true origin. As their adventure progresses, the pair encounter new allies who become essential companions in the growing struggle against the darkness threatening the world. Among them is Lee-Belle, the intelligent and resourceful daughter of a skilled pharmacist, whose knowledge of medicine and healing becomes invaluable throughout the journey. They are later joined by Billa, a young priestess whose spiritual abilities and mysterious connection to ancient forces hint at secrets far greater than anyone initially realizes. Together, the four companions form a tightly connected group bound not only by survival, but by friendship, trust, and the growing realization that the fate of Vitra itself may depend on their success. The world of Vitra serves as one of the game’s greatest strengths. Players explore lush green fields, quiet villages, dangerous forests, forgotten ruins, underground caverns, and remote lands untouched by civilization. Although the world initially appears peaceful and beautiful, danger constantly lurks beneath the surface. Monstrous creatures roam the wilderness, ancient powers stir within abandoned regions, and hidden mysteries wait to be uncovered in nearly every corner of the land. Exploration becomes a major part of the experience because the game encourages players to venture beyond the main storyline in search of treasures, secrets, and hidden lore connected to the world’s history. Combat is built around a traditional turn-based system that rewards careful planning and strategic thinking. Players must manage health, magic, elemental abilities, and party composition while facing increasingly dangerous enemies throughout the adventure. Battles become more challenging over time as monsters grow stronger and bosses introduce complex attack patterns requiring proper preparation and teamwork. Victory depends not only on character strength, but also on understanding enemy weaknesses and using skills effectively during combat encounters. One particularly interesting aspect of the gameplay is the extensive skill and spell system. Characters gradually unlock countless abilities as they progress through the adventure, allowing players to customize combat strategies based on personal preference. Offensive magic, healing techniques, defensive abilities, and support skills can all be improved further through a tier-based progression system that adds additional depth to character development. This steady growth creates a satisfying sense of progression as the party slowly transforms from inexperienced adventurers into powerful heroes capable of facing ancient threats. The enemy design also contributes significantly to the atmosphere of the game. Vitra is populated by dozens of carefully designed monsters ranging from strange wildlife corrupted by darkness to terrifying supernatural creatures hidden deep within unexplored lands. Every region introduces new enemies with distinct appearances and combat behaviors, helping maintain variety throughout the journey while reinforcing the sense that the world remains dangerous despite its beauty. Visually, the game embraces a nostalgic top-down presentation inspired by classic JRPGs while still offering colorful environments and expressive fantasy-themed artwork. Towns feel warm and lively, forests appear vibrant and mysterious, and dungeons carry an atmosphere of ancient danger waiting to consume careless adventurers. The visual style successfully captures the feeling of older role-playing games while preserving enough detail to remain visually appealing to modern audiences. The soundtrack further strengthens the experience through emotional orchestral compositions and atmospheric fantasy music that accompanies exploration, battles, and story moments. Peaceful melodies help create emotional attachment to towns and characters, while more dramatic battle themes intensify dangerous encounters against powerful enemies and bosses. The music consistently supports the adventurous and emotional tone of the story from beginning to end. Although In Vitra embraces many traditional JRPG conventions, it succeeds because of its sincerity and passion for classic fantasy storytelling. Friendship, sacrifice, courage, and personal growth remain central themes throughout the adventure, creating a nostalgic experience that feels both familiar and emotionally engaging. Beneath the simple beginning lies a larger mystery involving ancient secrets, hidden powers, and truths that threaten everything the heroes believe about their world. With its expansive fantasy setting, strategic turn-based combat, deep progression systems, memorable companions, and emotionally driven storyline, In Vitra delivers a heartfelt role-playing adventure that captures the spirit of classic JRPGs while offering players a dangerous and mysterious world filled with wonder, darkness, and unforgettable journeys. Rating: 6/10
In Vitra is a decent game. It is definitely worth the money I spent on it, and I would buy the sequel, if there was one. It is not an especially difficult game, in fact, after a few hours I found out that you could run away from the majority of the enemies, and still progess in the game. I finished the game at Level 14 for all my characters, and was able to beat the final Boss with 19 out of 25 Full Potions remaining in my Inventory (I will say that the Final Boss was a bastard to kill). JRPGs are my thing, having slogged my way through Millenium, every blessed part, and others of its kind, and God knows there are worse games in this genre than In Vitra. It's kind of basic, but I enjoyed it and hope the producers continue to grow and create better and better product.
I finally completed this game after 6.5 hrs of gameplay. I really think this game is great i really love the ending. There were no bugs in the game no boring parts, good story and i can say that i had fun while playing and i hope that this game will grow and i really hope that we will get In Vitra 2 really enjoyed <3
