This game does an incredible job with story-telling, there is allusion to psychological and physical harm to children, but never is there actual harm, I have seen far more appalling content towards children in other games. The imagery used does such a good job depicting blunting and emotional turmoil as well as the hellscape of psychological care in the 1940's. I highly recommend this experience.
This game offers a very unique perspective by having the player experience what it was like for young children who were thrown into asylums in the 20th century. The story telling, while very linear, is done in an engaging and intriguing way, with cool twists near the end of the game. Not to mention the artistic choice of having all the humans appear as silhouettes with little to no facial features, which to me is absolutely brilliant and adds a lot to the unsettling and disturbing atmosphere of the asylum. The story is obviously very dark, which is expected since it's set in an asylum for children, but thankfully it takes those heavy subjects very seriously, showcasing the horrors found in places like that. I can definitely tell a lot of research went into making it and I definitely recommend it to anyone that likes a darker story.
Played this game from start to finish in one go and honestly: This is a work of storytelling genius. I had to get over the fact that the game is very railroaded, as you are following a linear story, but the challenges are fun and diverse and welcome distractions in between the plot points that developed. Can absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes a good story driven thriller.
I don't even know where to start with this game because everything about it was phenomenal. The story was so intriguing that I found myself completely immersed from start to finish. The game is incredibly polished- I'm talking no bugs, no crashes, absolutely nothing! (And believe me, I tried my hardest to clip through walls cause yes) But the game’s quality is top-notch. You can really tell the dev put so much care and attention into this! The art style, 3D models, textures and graphics are absolutely beautiful. It’s got this unique vibe that perfectly complements the eerie yet whimsical atmosphere of the asylum. Every little detail- from the lighting to the character designs- feels deliberate and well thought out. If you're even remotely considering getting this game, do yourself a favor and just do it! You won’t regret it. I am so excited for the 3rd game in this series and I wanna be first in line to get it when it releases!
Imaginary Friend Asylum is an overall good game but it sure has it ups and downs. And I feel like the creator had a lot of good ideas and plans for it but some of those just felt a bit chaotic to play through. I will now list the pros and cons: PROS: - The art style. I really liked the imaginary friend designs and the overall aesthetic (It was one of the main reasons why I bought the game). - The game-play was simple but still nice to play through. CONS: - The story was quite chaotic. It felt rushed and unfinished and a bit silly. I feel like the creator had good ideas but struggled to present them properly. - The price is a little bit too high for this game. ---- You should also be aware that this game does not really have scary jump-scares and such. The horror is represented in the atmosphere and the story. Overall it was a funny game to play through, I just don't think it is worth the current price but it's up to you if you want to pay that money or not.
An amazingly written Mascot Horror visual novel in the Imaginary Friend Series. Subverts expectations greatly. Don't play if you're looking for a perfect game, play if you want an EXPERIENCE.
I want a Pooky of my very own please. I love this game.
This made me cry. 10/10, I'm going to make a Polo Cosplay now.
This is one of the best games I have ever played
One of my friends suggested this game to me, sent me some edits and all. It has such a great story, as well as having both horror and other psycological aspects to it. Its such a fun experience to go through, as well as very interesting to see. It didn'tt take too long to finish but was apsolutely amazing.
