Discover what lies behind the arrivial of the comet.
Of the great mortality and famine that befell Florence and its surroundings, and of a comet that appeared.
In the year 1348, at the end of March, a comet appeared in the sky toward the east, at the end of the sign of Virgo and the beginning of Libra—both human signs, signifying great affliction and death upon human bodies, as we shall say hereafter. The comet itself lasted only a few days, but many evils followed its ominous signs, especially upon our city of Florence.
Soon after, a great mortality began, such that those who fell ill scarcely survived. More than a sixth of the citizens died, and many were the best and most beloved—both men and women. No family was spared, with two, three, or more members perishing. The plague lasted until the coming winter.
(Giovanni Villani, Nuova Cronica. Florence, 1348)
Ignis Dei was originally made for the Spaghetti Horror 2025 Game Jam, as such it is a short game aimed to entertain you for about 30 minutes.
Some improvements have been made for the Steam release but you might encounters bugs and some parts of the game might appear unfinished due to the short development time.
We hope you will enjoy the experience nonetheless.

Beautiful.
Shockingly good! The grip system of movement is a bit weird, but I just ended up holding right click and using the standard WASD and things felt smooth after that. It certainly did not detract from the game. The game itself is a bit of a puzzle, but all are fair, unique, and make sense. Even if you don't particularly like puzzle games, I would still give this a try. The actual pixel art is beautiful and well animated, I instantly linked the game to a friend. Can't wait to see what this dev does next.

PSA: consistently crashes upon completion of the "bottom left" puzzle on the steam deck, on auto-selected proton version... didn't bother trying other ones. At the price of free, I'll still recommend because of the very nice presentation and decent puzzles. To the devs: would be nice to be able to save (if I could have, I would have tried other proton versions), and to have the puzzle hints shown when entering an area be sticky/recallable.
Great medieval/folk horror atmosphere and aesthetic that does a ton with a little - super impressive (also free!). While not sure the grid movement was totally necessary it's not a dealbreaker at all for me being an avid dungeon crawler, and shouldn't be for you either regardless. I think it works well and adds to the mood, also makes you pay attention a bit more to your surroundings when solving puzzles. The one of which in the swamp I'll confess I'm not sure how I even solved, but the rest range from intuitive and sneaky to pretty obvious (not in a bad way tho). Nice work, team! Thanks for sharing this gift with us!

Particolarissima l'idea del movimento in stile dungeon crawling, musica e disegni stupendi - bravi davvero!
While short it is very visually impressive even if i'd say it leans more cosmic in horror than anything else which gives it a nice atmosphere.
