ICARUS deserves far more recognition than it gets. The developers have built an incredible foundation for a project with huge long-term potential. The mix of survival, base building, exploration, and progression keeps the gameplay fresh, and the game continues to improve with every update. Some people criticize the DLC model, but the reality is that the base game alone can easily provide over 1,000 hours of gameplay if you enjoy building, exploring, and completing missions. On top of that, there's no monthly subscription. If a studio wants to keep supporting and expanding a game for years, it needs a sustainable way to fund development, and optional DLC is one of the fairest approaches. You're never forced to buy it to enjoy the core experience. If you're looking for a survival game with a strong foundation and a bright future, ICARUS is absolutely worth your time.
This game is far to rough around the edges and far too obtuse with ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ building for it to be a game released in the shadow of its betters. You can tell its influenced by Satisfactory, yet fails to bring over any of the qol that made that game smooth to play. I should not have to google how to 'build'. I should not have a dense handbook as the only source of info (and that's coming from me, who loves Vintage Story). I should have the option to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scale my UI. I'm glad I got this for next to nothing on a sale....I wish I could return it still. No way is this getting any more time without a building system revamp at least. And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ almost 200 bucks for the 'full' game. insane for something this low quality.
It's actually a great game that still has lots of updates. The only thing that, in my opinion, should be changed is that short missions should be attached to permanent maps, where you build your main base and then do short missions to get some tech missions, etc. I think it would be great. Also, games suffer from real enemies. There should be more creatures like worms or some kind of aggressive alien creatures rather than bears.
Love it.
I liked the game so far. Played with my friends and we get weekly updates . Only complain would be to add something like fast travel device for late game. Lot of time is spent running around the map with mounts .
Quests are buggy as all hell. Imagine paying $20 for an expansion and half the content doesnt work.
