About
I AI is a VR-only multiplayer puzzle game designed for two players. Set in a fragmented sci-fi world, the game focuses on communication, coordination, puzzle solving, and narrative-driven challenges. You and your partner must work together—often in unusual situations—to uncover a mystery rooted in time, memory, and identity.
Play as one of two androids learning to think, feel, and communicate like humans.
Rely on voice, visual cues, and shared reasoning to make progress.
Each puzzle is crafted to test how well you can interpret information, exchange ideas, and work as one.

Designed from the ground up for virtual reality, I AI offers a fully immersive experience. Interact naturally with your environment using motion controls—grab objects, point, draw, operate tools, and use gestures to communicate with your partner.
Puzzles are crafted specifically for VR, relying on physical interaction, spatial reasoning, and both verbal and non-verbal cooperation. You’ll use your environment to solve challenges, align shapes in 3D space, manipulate tactile interfaces, or signal your partner through barriers—experiences that simply don’t translate outside of VR.
Progress depends not just on logic, but on how clearly you can convey what you see, understand what your partner describes, and think together. Communication isn’t just a feature—it’s one of the core elements of gameplay.

I AI is built entirely around two players. There’s no single-player mode, no AI companion—only real cooperation between people. From start to finish, the experience is designed for shared play.
You and your partner must rely on each other to make progress. Communication isn’t just encouraged—it’s essential. The game rewards conversation, coordination, and mutual understanding.
Every challenge is meant to be faced together. Multiplayer isn’t just a mode—it’s the heart of the story and the core of the experience.

Each player experiences the world differently. No single perspective is enough to solve the game’s challenges. I AI is built around asymmetrical puzzle design—where both players see and interact with different parts of the environment.
You’ll each have distinct tools, information, and responsibilities. One player might see a diagram while the other holds the controls. One may hear a tone the other cannot. Success depends on describing symbols, relaying patterns, interpreting clues, and syncing actions—often relying entirely on your partner’s perception.
It’s not about individual skill, but shared understanding. You’ll explain, guess, and guide each other toward solutions that neither could reach alone. Whether you’re across the room or across the world, I AI makes communication the core mechanic. You’re not just solving puzzles—you’re learning how to think together.

I AI supports full cross-play between PC VR and Meta Quest headsets, allowing players to connect and play together across platforms.
Whether you’re on a high-end PC setup or a standalone headset, the experience remains consistent and seamless. No extra setup, no limitations—just find a partner and begin. The game is optimized for smooth performance and parity across systems, ensuring that your experience is shaped by cooperation—not by hardware.

I AI tells a layered story—a puzzle in itself—uncovered through dialogue, fragmented memories, and environmental detail. You play as two androids, searching for purpose and trying to understand the final days of human civilization.
At the center of this mystery are the Dreamers—human children exposed to alien technology.
Their memories are the clues to what happened to us.
The story unfolds gradually as you progress. Through shared discoveries and quiet details, you’ll reconstruct a timeline shaped by loss, transformation, and the question of what it truly means to be human.

I AI supports full-body presence in VR, allowing you to see more than just floating hands. You’ll move, gesture, point, and interact using your whole body—adding weight and clarity to communication with your partner.
This deeper embodiment helps with both expression and immersion. Subtle movements become part of how you collaborate—whether you’re pointing out a clue, nodding in agreement, or silently gesturing through glass.
No spoilers in this review! Played on my Meta Quest 2 @MatureContent
This is like a budget version of the co-op campaign from Portal 2, but if it was VR. You play as this robot that is being put through different test chambers with increasingly difficult puzzles to solve. Most of them involve shooting or moving things using your two robotic baby hands. The puzzles were alright, but the hands were really hard to control, since the robot arms were like half the length of my real arms. Beside that, the gameplay felt pretty smooth and I didnt feel sick while playing, which is already better than most VR titles. This game is online co-op only though, which is a hard to sell genre when it isnt an online fps game. Owning a VR headset is still only something a small minority does and there are even fewer who have a friend group that also happens to own headsets of their own. So making the game online co-op only is a tough start for your game and might be why there are so few players. I received a review copy of this game, so I didnt pay anything. I have to be honest though and say that if you and your friends are considering getting this, get it on sale. There are a lot of VR titles better than this game that go for less than 15 bucks and I think this game is suited better at a price below 10. _________________________________ Help me out by following my Curator, I’d really appreciate it!!
What is this game
This is a story-based obligatory cooperative Virtual Reality game where you and a friend must solve puzzles together and communicate with each other to unlock sections and progress through the game. Thinks of games like Split Fiction, It Takes Two, We Were Here Together and the likes.
Gameplay and setting
The environment consists of some sections composed of science fiction settings like the inside of a research station, a crash site of a spaceship in a planet and the likes. There are often some surreal elements like flying whales and psychodelic colors and patterns. You and your friends start in one of the rooms of the section and you unlock doors or obstacles to go to the next part. You are often separated -- each one having to take a different path -- but are always seeing each other, and can communicate visually with each other with your chest panels, in which you can wear an emoticon or a 4-digit number (many of the puzzles are composed of combinations). I also used steam's own voice chat to talk with my friend when playing, which I am still not sure if it's cheating or not, lol. The puzzles are easy at the start but can get pretty challenging at times. In fact, I started the gameplay with my buddy Corben and we got stuck at the section of the antenna dish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQaSw7f-KI0 -- will need to search some guide... Sound effects are ok, music is unremarkable, and voice acting is ok. VR interactions are basic, with not much tactibility.
VR Options, Performance and Linux
The game has the usual options of teleport, smooth/snap turning and the likes. The defaults for the locomotion options are too low, and we had to change them to the maximum for it to be comfortable. Even on high the game runs very smooth at 90 fps (since I'm using 90 Hz). It runs well through all three software: WiVRn, ALVR and Steam Play. We both ran the game on Linux.
Conclusion
It's very nice to see this genre finally go into VR. If you have a buddy to play with in VR, I'd highly recommend it for an experience together. 7.5/10
Note: the two keys were received for free through my Steam Curator for VR Games on Linux
I’ve only played around 4 hours so far, but I’m really enjoying Iai. It’s a co-op only puzzle adventure that supports crossplay between Meta and PC, which makes it easy to jump in with a friend. The puzzles stand out because they’re not your standard VR puzzles, they really push teamwork. Sometimes you and your partner are together, other times you’re split up and need to complete completely different tasks to progress. It feels fresh and rewarding when you figure things out together. My friend (Mr Yobo) and I did run into a few bugs and glitches here and there, but nothing game-breaking. In fact, more than once we thought we’d found a glitch, but it turned out we just hadn’t understood the puzzle properly. A little trial and error usually solved the problem, and the built-in reset button is super helpful when you need to start over. There are some accessibility issues worth noting: there’s no crouch or height adjustment option, which can make it tricky for seated players to grab or climb certain objects. Also, the left hand alignment feels slightly off. Hopefully these can be improved in future updates. Visually, the game is very pleasing with a clean, immersive style. The physics feel good, the music sets the mood well, and there’s a story to follow that adds a nice layer on top of the puzzles. If you’ve got someone to play with and you enjoy tackling puzzles that range from simple to complex, I highly recommend Iai. It’s a unique and fun VR co-op experience that’s worth checking out. This is a great co-op puzzle escape room to play with a friend. Some very clever puzzles and the look and style of the game made it a fun experience.
