I Hate You, Please Suffer - Complete

A very difficult RPG that hates me, but I play it anyway, I do it for Ramona because she deserves it. Enjoy facing off against raccoons, hornets, speeding cars, guys who like raccoons a lot, and nightmare creatures dressed like office workers. Make sure to recruit other characters, it makes all the difference, and don't leave important equipment on the bus.

Really great narrative and world design. Can easily see this getting a cult following like other indie RPGs of the past decade if given exposure.

В это банально неприятно играть. Шаг вправо - смерть от машины, влево - от птиц, пытаешься хоть какие-то копейки заработать - минус 100 хп. При этом сохранения только в своей комнате, а бои неадекватно хардкорные. Куда нужно идти и что делать - совершенно неочевидно. При этом и перемещение по локациям крайне медленное и унылое. Да еще и рисовка в игре страшненькая. Единственный плюс - неплохая музыка.

Bitterly cynical in a way that makes it feel rewarding when your pack of queer losers claws their way to something positive. Robust turn-based combat without any obvious "default" strategies. Enemy levels scale with yours, which feels confusing at first but means you're never incentivized to grind mindlessly - you always have to fight smarter or sacrifice more to win. Rough around the edges but in a way that resonates well with the overall vibe. Suitable for folks that like medium-difficulty turn-based RPGs and queer storytelling, and want to try a taste of masochism without fully returning to the buy-a-player's-guide era.

Very charming, I enjoyed the wry social commentary. This is a very long game with a lot of content. Interesting and challenging combat, well balanced and fair if initially daunting. Intriguing world building, excellent enemy variety. The developers life experience and relatable anxieties are clearly conveyed, without ever veering into sermonising. As the name suggests there is some hostile game design (aka trolling) mixed in, but for me at least they were amusing gotcha moments, rather than obnoxious tedium, as seen in true troll games. Highly recommended, left me with a great appetite for similar rpg maker passion projects.

There's a shocking amount of depth to this one. Can't imagine any other art style complementing it as well either. If you like scrappy RPGMaker games IHYPS is a treat.
