Greetings Enforcer, and thank you for enlisting in the Hypnospace Patrol Department! As the corporatocracy sleeps, outlaws are out there committing terrible transgressions all across our beloved Hypnospace, and these virtual streets aren't going to police themselves!
Hypnospace Outlaw is a '90s internet simulator in which you scour Hypnospace's wide variety of weird and wonderful websites to hunt down wrongdoers, while also keeping an eye on your inbox, avoiding viruses and adware, and downloading a plethora of apps that may or may not be useful.
As part of your job as a Hypnospace Enforcer, you'll be watching out for copyright infringement, internet bullying and more, with reports and rewards coming direct from the Hypnospace Patrol Department to your inbox. In your spare time, you can customize your HypnOS desktop however you see fit, with a variety of downloads, wallpapers, screen savers and helper bots to keep you company.

Crawl through Cyberspace: Scour the darkest corners of the Web for scumbag users who violate Hypnospace law!

Great game, and really unique. I don't think there's anything else like it honestly. There's so much detail put into every page, and the personality of every character, making the world feel so authenitc, so real. I found myself checking back on my favourite pages and getting a laugh at some of the updates. Teentopia especially was really well done, the drama that went on in there was hilarious. A lot of cases get quite tricky towards the end, so I did end up having to pull up a guide for some of it, but it didn't ruin the experience for me at all. The ending was very unexpected, and quite sad. If I had any critique for this game, it'd be that I'd like to know more about how the actual headsets work, and a bit more about how Hypnospace as a whole impacted the real world. Why did people want the internet during sleep? Was there internet outside sleep hours? What did the general population think about it? [spoiler] How did people get hurt in the end? Did the hack cause a headset malfunction? It didn't sound like the hacker intended for it to me harmful so that really interests me tbh.[/spoiler] For Linux users: The TTS function on your assistant doesn't work by default, but there are guides on Steam that teach you how to install modules to get it working. Follow the most up to date guides in the comments on there. Make sure add the launch argument and disable robot voice in your HypnOS settings. It should work perfectly after that, and it's worth doing 'cause the default robot voice is annoying haha. Otherwise no issues with the game on Linux. It even has a native version which is great to see!

Merecia uma nota neutra. Por ser fã de vaporwave, achei que eu me divertiria com o jogo. Contudo, ele parece o tipo de jogo que o Angry Videogame Nerd falaria numa review. Nas primeiras missões até parece algo plausível, porém, o jogo logo se mostra uma brincadeira de achar uma agulha num palheiro. Você precisa pesquisar na barra, mas a barra só vai te dar resultados se você adivinhar que precisa pesquisar as ferramentas de pesquisa, que só vão ser abertas se você usar a ferramenta de re-pesquisa que são disponíveis se você baixar um vírus que só está disponível se você entrar num site que é mencionado num blog que você só tem acesso pesquisando por uma palavra dita num site que você não tem acesso direto, apenas indo pela tag dum site genérico. Como experiência cultural, é bastante complexo. Emula muito bem a sensação de navegar pela internet discada, onde todo mundo tinha um site único e muitas vezes mal feito. Como jogo, é uma experiência bastante frustrante e praticamente impossível de se resolver se você nao passar HORAS lendo cada linha de texto tediosa de sites pouco initeressantes ou apelar para guias.

I love the 90s/2000s intranet
Hypnospace Outlaw is certainly one of the best games I've ever played. The mechanics are fun and easy to remember, the visuals are loyal to the early 2000s computers but at the same time completely unique, and the characters' stories make you actually WANT to read every single page. Even your coworkers have some interesting things to show heheh [spoiler] also seepage is, in fact, incredible and I now listen to the music on a daily basis lol [/spoiler]

mmm ohhh yea surreally brilliant. a wholeheartedly thought out newly and nostalgically unique universe. i prolly think about this game every day. the music, the leetle talking robot, the concept, the personalized art for every page, the whole of the interface, the strangely tragic twist and minorly heartbreaking characteristics to each user, man what a genuine work of cyber beauty. perhaps the most fantastically well done form of media i've ever consumed and that has ever existed. i wish terribly so that this experience lived in a never-ending loop inside my brain and spiraled from my skull to my toes every second for the rest of my life. good lort i fawking love this game. not enough adoration and praise in the world to do it justice meooow
