Can't recommend this even if it's a decent game. The developers assured people that this game wouldn't have slowed down the development of PAMELA, and I can see why, because they don't bother updating it.
https://youtu.be/F2Hg_D6XZT4 Three years ago, my adventure in videogame reviews have started, but when I sat down to write this one I couldn’t remember a game that has confused me so much. On the one hand, there are so many glitches, on the other it is so fun that whenever I got home I wanted to play a little bit. And I do not play it for just half an hour or so, I usually just sat there for much longer. Hypergun is a roguelite, dungeon crawler FPS. The concept is very interesting, and in practice it works quite well. Although the story of this game is not the fundamental it exists and we can read about it on tablets and PCs left on counters or in the lobby of the game. Briefly, your objective is to play a simulation in which you randomly build a weapon to destroy an alien invasion. In theory, those who win the simulation will have created the ultimate weapon, capable of winning the war on behalf of mankind. Graphically I was somewhat disappointed, because in the trailer the game seemed very similar to Superhot, but except the arm of our character everything else is very blurry and with much lower quality that I was expecting. Textures, scenarios and especially the aliens have much less detail than I would like. It looks like when we make a drawing and we paint it, but then spill a lot of water on it. We continue to notice what is below, but it has lost the fine trace, leaving everything in a big blur. This is all more noticeable because it is all done in intense, bright and electric colors, tons of contrasts and colors, that generally works I assume, but that virtually makes it impossible to see some of the missiles fired at us since they became camouflaged in the color pallet. When playing at high speeds, details are a must, not a sidekick. For simplicity I’ll divide the sound into three sections. The background music fantastic. We start in an elevator ... with elevator music, but then electronic music starts. It's just good! This music helps a lot to create the rhythm, and if there is a defect that I can point out is that it is connected to the level, I mean, in the first level you always hear the same music, in the second another, and so on. This makes the first songs a bit repetitive over time, but it's not as noticeable as you might think, because what matters the most is the beat that helps us find our flow. The sounds of the aliens are just terrible. They mostly sound like pigs, and it seems like we've spent the whole game running away from pigs. Those who do not look like pigs turn out to be irritating giggles or screams that look more like a person with a cough. I have nothing positive to say about these effects. Lastly the shots that are acceptable, but a low acceptable. They are good enough for you to notice the difference between most attachments that we were add to our weapon, but they sound mostly like pew-pew. The gameplay is fairly simple. It's a dungeon system. In each room you enter you are presented with hordes of aliens that try to kill you. Intelligence is not their strongest aspect ... nor the weakest, because theiy appear to have none. Your number one secret is do not stand still, number two is to look for the high-ground, and if it does not exist try to bait them so they all stay in the same area, because everyone behaves the same way, going after you in the most direct path, in a straight line if possible. If you have everyone together, you know where everyone is, and you have a good idea of where they will appear to you. If there is a trap in the way, like a fire trap, they will just go over it, they will not even try to dodge it. If it's the closest way to get to you, that's where they will be going, and you can use that to your advantage. In addition, they suffer from immense cerebral stops, often charging in the wrong direction, or against a wall... and then the glitches multiply, because multiple times there is an alien trapped somewhere and I even had a case where one did spawn inside a wall, and I could only hit him because luckily, I had gained an attachment for the gun that made the bullets bounce on the walls, otherwise I would have to restart the game. Bosses mean a significant difficulty spike, but the two I've met were quite fair. So, may you assume that the rest of the ride it’s quite easy? No, because there’s tons of opponents at the same time in a tiny room, some fly, many have shields, others teleport and can reach you from positions where you cannot see them, creating multiple positions from which they can hit you, and if you get distracted by just a second, from one of those positions a shot will surely hit you. So, you progress in the successive dungeons, killing the successive aliens looking for loot they sometimes drop. This loot is divided into parts. They can drop Hyper Coins, the currency of the game that allows you to buy permanent improvements or unlock new characters, each of them with different playstyle, they can drop attachments for your weapon to use just in one playthrough, or they can drop a currency which allows you to buy some improvements just for the current playthrough, currency you can only use if you find the dungeon that sells those improvements or keys to open some boxes that give you more attachments. For me the most important drops are, by far, the hyper coins. At the beginning of the game we are able to see everything we can unlock, and during this week I was a bit scared by the amount of grind this game could require. Until yesterday, the currencies drop at a rate that seemed to take hundreds of hours for the completionists to unlock everything, but yesterday that pace increased considerably. I do not know if that was just a matter of luck, but in two rounds I got more coins than in all my remaining playing time, and if it is to keep it like this, it seems to me a fair pace, and there is still some room to increase it a little bit since the permanent improvements are just not so significant. Everything else is quite random and interferes greatly with each of the playthroughs. If you get more powerful accessories, or a secondary fire, you'll probably get through the game much more easily and you'll get much further than if you only get buffs on skills or upgrades to the primary fire. There is not a properly good balance. I thought most of the attachment were useless, and the ones who were good, were stupidly good. It is truth that you will hardly make the same weapon twice, but the primary fire has a very similar feel to each other, even seeing a rather different graphical representation between them. Only the secondary fire may vary, and each ammunition is usually very different from each other, and much more fun to use. In these games there is always replay value, although the game loop is always the same. I have not been able to stop playing and only discovered maybe ¼ of what the game has to show me at about 10 hours (maybe a little less). In a nutshell, this game is not a work of art, the sound effects are awful, the opponents are so dumb it hurts, but the gameplay is good and the music excellent. All this together pulls the game to the positive area, but handle this with careful, just watch some gameplay before you buy it. I simply loved the game, but I find no rational reason to that!
Yes I would recommend this game. I held off buying it months ago because there were a lot of negative reviews. As a GIANT fan of Ziggurat, a big fan of Mothergunship, let me say that I'm impressed with Hypergun. Immediately it beats Immortal Redneck and City of Brass, by a long shot. This is one of the best looking games I've ever played. I'm only a few hours in and am blown away by the world ambience and graphics. Unless I was in total mesmerization of every facet of gameplay, normally I wouldn't leave a review this fast, however in this case, the sheer abundance of negative reviews out there, I want to leave a positive review right now, just incase there's anyone like myself, who is thinking about buying the game but holding off because of the negative reviews. Trust your instincts like I should have trusted mine. Imagine Mothergunship type enemies, mixed with Neon Chrome style soundtrack, with awesome graphics. Sure there could be more enemies, though I've just started playing and haven't unlocked them all yet. Plus by the 3rd stage, there are enough of the default running enemies combined with flying shield generators on them, that actually mastering not taking damage and doing well, yeah that'll take some time. However as a giant fan of these kind of games, I'm that impressed that I'm seriously considering gifting it to a few people already. If you want AAA rinse and repeat garbage and need a full blown story from a game, look elsewhere, chum. As this game will be for those gamers with true gaming integrity; you against the machine.
This game has excellent graphics but just it. The game becomes boring at the second boss easily, the enemies have too much health, they are not challenging but boring. Ironically the speed movement is so fast (which is nice, but not too nice), but the progress you make in actual gameplay is not. I really like the developers. They are always in contact with you through their social media, I hope the best to them, but this game just wasn't for me.
Take the weapon customisation of dead space 3. add a random element to it. Add some fps superfast gameplay and a bit of roguelike and you get hypergun. Cheap so worth a try if you like this sort of thing. Performs and plays really well. First look below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY8R2YJFoNk
A really fun rogue-like shooter with a lot of replay-value due to the many different weapon attachments and power-ups!
Videos speak louder than words ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt2GMK9ySE8 Fast-Paced Arena Shooter HYPERGUN is one of the best FPS games I've played in a long time ! It heavily reminds me of games like Doom , Duke Nukem , Unreal Tournament , Quake & Serious Sam ! This genuinely is my kind of game ! The fact it's paired with a rogue-lite dungeon and PvE makes it even better ! I would like to see multiplayer added in the future :) It would be a nice feature ! Both player vs player and co-operative modes ! :) Keep up the good work guys ! Genuinely one of the best games I've played for a long time ! \o>
