Combat is great from gun to melee, enemy variety as well. Platforming, barely any, other than just chain dash around. Replayability is bad due to unskippable cutscenes. Exploration good, only like 1-2 secrets were unmarked (iirc), otherwise they all been marked. Would be great if allowed to place a dot anywhere in the map.
Hello! This is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played while being sick. Don't go left first, you may be too weak for this path yet!

Went in blind during the sale, was a great looking and playing game. It’s not that brutal but you have a very limit health pool which can make some areas a little taxing. The secrets aren’t too hard to spot but you will need to track back a few times, and there are no short cuts. Keep a note of locked doors! you’ll thank me later. My only minor complaints are the boss fights are a little more annoying than challenging, no area short cuts, limited move set, and that some of the achievements are crazy. I recommend playing with keyboard and mouse and change the dash direction in options. With controller its ok bit the shotting kind of awkward if you try to aim, I got round this a shotgun. All that being said, it’s a great weekend filler.

Even among its peers in the second Indie Game revolution of the early 2010s, Hyper Light Driver stood strong. With wonderful visuals, tight combat mechanics, completionist appeal, and purely visual storytelling, it remains a fantastic game, and you can still see the impact it made today: From those that took deep inspiration, like the game HOB, to the more subtle legacy of its animation and art-design, like the intro to Risk of Rain Returns. A lot of games have branched out from the place where HLD took Zelda-esuqe action games, but it's still a strong contender to anything before or after. It belongs on everyone's list of games to play.
Hyper Light Drifter is a game I've come back to many times. After beating the game on my mobile phone, I've decided to go through the entire story on my first ever gaming PC. This time around, my mission is to find all keys, outfits, and basically 100% completion. Some of the challenges to unlock achievements are incredibly hard, so I probably won't attempt all of those. For anyone who is up for a difficult game, Hyper Light Drifter is one of the most beautifully immersive ones I've played. The graphics, music, and combat mechanics are top notch. Also, there are no major hints to progress, so it can be difficult to find where to go. Combat is littered with pixel blood, gore, and disturbing themes. Certainly meant for a more mature, highly advanced player. Overall, I would give it a 10/10.
very solid game, the combat was damn near perfect, the atmosphere was spot on, I really don't have anything bad to say about it
