About
Full moon. Cold night. Dark shadow. Warm gun. The Beast of Glenkildove has stalked Ireland for centuries. Now, you must hunt it.
Hunter: The Reckoning — The Beast of Glenkildove is an interactive novel by William Brown, set in the World of Darkness. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Eight years ago, when you were eighteen, the Beast of Glenkildove killed one of your closest friends. You've never returned to Ireland since that day.
It's difficult to remember what happened. As you'll soon learn, the human mind blots out the traumatic memories of facing a werewolf.
Now, you must stalk that werewolf across the shadowed glens and fogbound mountains of Ireland, hunting a shapeshifting killing machine with your friends, your wits, and a shotgun.
But you and your friends are not alone. You have entered a world of Hunters, humans who dare to challenge the dominion of the monsters who rule over them. Can you trust the fanatics of the Society of Leopold, the scholars and savants of the Arcanum, the ruthless Duffy crime family, or the enigmatic biotech company Fada?
Can you even trust your oldest friends?
Redemption for some. Retribution for others. A reckoning for all.

This text-based RPG is able to deliver a wealth of choice to really shape a supernatural adventure that feels your own with intriguing options to explore, creatively building on some great Irish mythology with a bit of IT flavour. This plays with lots of World of Darkness elements in interesting ways that either provides a neat intro to the universe, or should excite fans who know about its different settings.
Easily the best one of these since Night Roads. Very deep, complex and reactive. I do wish it had the storyteller mode so i knew what stats were being checked but oh well. My first playthrough i died trying to jump out a window and breaking my neck. 10/10
The author seems to have a problem with Carl Jung. O_o
Don't expect a video game, expect a text-based RPG in the style of old "choose your own adventure" books. It's a great adventure!
It was the best experience since Night Road. I think the plot aligns perfectly with the grand lore of World of Darkness. There are small hints about what's happening around the world as well and it gives the feeling that the author knows what they are doing. Highly recommended.
Excellent Read, good story and satisfying conclusion.
This was my first experience with an interactive novel and I must admit - it stole my heart. I highly recommend checking out the first few chapters in demo version to get a taste of the product. As for the story itself, it is exceptionally well written. The author manages to build and maintain a very unique atmosphere, as well as create deep bonds with characters in a fairly limited time, making the reader care about them. The pacing is mostly satisfactory throughout the adventure, although near the end it indeed seems rushed. I also appreciated the variety of choices presented to the reader. My only complaint may be that it is quite character stats oriented. In order for Hunter to survive they must be exceptional in a given field, which locks out "all around" builds. I found that out the hard way. Although it makes sense in fiction (which is a great thing!) I would appreciate a bit more freedom in that 'roleplaying' aspect. All in all, I highly recommend to experience this story and I'm looking forward to checking out other WoD works.
Great mystery/hunt set in the World of Darkness, mostly within rural Ireland. Mostly Hunter the Reckoning but there are many World of Darkness elements scattered throughout. Some good story options and a great example of how people view creatures/events differently.
Good story. I missed lots of stuff because my stats weren't high enough, which was annoying. No achievement for getting an ending, and achievements seem to be very hard to get.
