HuniePop is a unique sim experience for PC, Mac and Linux. It's a gameplay first approach that's part dating sim, part puzzle game, with light RPG elements, a visual novel style of presentation, an abrasive western writing style and plenty of "plot".

HuniePop is where I learned all my rizz. Which is to say, I learned that romance is mostly pattern recognition, strategic gift-giving, remembering people’s interests, and matching colored tiles under pressure. Honestly? Educational. This game is ridiculous, but it is also weirdly addictive. On the surface, it is a dating sim with very obvious intentions, but underneath that is a surprisingly fun puzzle game that absolutely did not need to go as hard as it did. The match-3 gameplay is genuinely satisfying, and there is enough strategy involved that you can’t just turn your brain off completely and expect to charm your way through it. The characters are over-the-top, the writing is unserious, and the whole thing knows exactly what kind of game it is. It is not pretending to be some deep romantic masterpiece. It is loud, silly, spicy, chaotic, and somehow still manages to be a good time. What makes it work is the balance between the dating sim side and the puzzle side. You talk to characters, learn their preferences, buy gifts, build stats, and then go into dates like you are preparing for war with lip gloss and candy. Is it classy? Absolutely not. Is it fun? Unfortunately, yes. HuniePop is trashy in the best way, weirdly strategic, and dangerously easy to keep playing because every failed date makes you want to run it back and prove you have game. All my rizz came from this game, and honestly, that explains a lot.
Short Review
HuniePop is a game that markets itself as a lewd dating sim but is, ironically, more fun as a puzzle game than anything else. The match-3 gameplay is engaging and ends up being the real draw, the voice acting is solid, and the art looks nice. The characters are mostly walking tropes, the dialogue system feels like reading a personality quiz with obvious answers, and hunting achievements is a tedious grind. If you go in expecting a good puzzle game with some risque dressing around it, you'll probably have a decent time. Recommended, but
Full Review
HuniePop is one of those games where the thing on the tin and the thing inside the tin are kind of different, and not necessarily in a bad way. It presents itself as an adult dating sim where the payoff is unlocking lewd content, but what kept me actually engaged was the match-3 puzzle system at its core. Whether that says something about the game or about me, I'll leave to the reader. The voice acting. The voice work is good and gives the characters more presence than they'd have otherwise. It's one of those production elements you might not expect to be a highlight in this type of game, but it is. The performances do real work in making the dates feel lively, even when the writing beneath them doesn't do them many favors. The art and lewd content. The art looks nice. The character designs are appealing, and the risque content is presented well visually. That said, I'll be upfront: as an actual alternative for "other things," the lewd content here is pretty underwhelming. It's more of a cosmetic reward for progression than something that meaningfully delivers on the game's implied promise. If you're playing primarily for that side of things, you might come away feeling like the payoff doesn't quite match the buildup. The puzzle gameplay. The match-3 system is a lot of fun, and it ends up being more satisfying than anything else in the game. The dates play out as puzzle sessions where you're matching tokens under a turn limit, and the strategic layer around managing different token types to build affection, passion, and sentiment actually gives you something to think about. The puzzle aspect carries HuniePop further than the dating sim mechanics do, and that's not a knock against it so much as an observation about where the real design work went. The characters. Most of the cast is built around a single personality trope and doesn't really develop beyond it. The tsundere is exactly that, the nerdy one is exactly that, and so on down the line. There's not much beneath the surface to make any of them feel like actual people rather than archetypes assembled to fill a roster. The voice acting helps, but it can only do so much with what it's given. The dialogue system. The conversation mechanic, where you select responses that match a girl's preferences to build up affinity, feels a bit hollow in practice. The right answers are usually telegraphed by the personality you've already learned, so you end up just selecting whatever fits the trope rather than expressing any genuine point of view. It feels less like a conversation and more like a personality quiz where you already know the answer key. I get that this is the nature of the genre, but some more varied dialogue options that didn't just cater directly to each character's predefined preferences would have made the interactions feel a little less mechanical. The achievements. Completionists, brace yourselves. The achievement list is a grind. Getting everything requires a lot of repetitive work that doesn't introduce much new and wears out its welcome long before you're done. If you're playing casually, this isn't your problem. If you're going for 100%, it's something to know going in. Overall. HuniePop is a better puzzle game than it is a dating sim or adult game, and whether that's the recommendation or the caveat depends entirely on what you came for. The match-3 gameplay is fun and carries the experience, the voice acting is solid, and the art is appealing. But the characters are thin, the dialogue system is more rote than engaging, the lewd content underwhelms as an actual payoff, and the achievement grind is rough. Go in for the puzzles, appreciate the presentation, and keep your expectations calibrated on everything else. i was having fun playing this and i was showing my friend on call but i forgot it was porn adn then she had her coochie out :(
ok, hear me out. hentai aside, this game is actually really fun and addictive. its like your typical match 3 puzzle game, but there pieces that have different effects, like there is one that adds a multiplier to help a date progress faster. i was skeptical at first (for obvious reasons) but i started playing and actually lost track of time lol, id say give this one a shot unless youre scared of your friends seeing this lol
11 years after it's initial release, I fired up HuniePop for the first time and it feels bizarre to me that it has such positive reviews considering how basic it is from a gameplay perspective. Obviously, a h-game with actual gameplay was a more novel concept back in 2015, but these flaws are too glaring to ignore. Let's break it down. -Just getting to the normal ending requires you to max out each girl's relationship rank and get the bedroom scene. This is plain bad design. The whole point of a dating sim is to pick and focus on the characters that are the most appealing to you. HuniePop has a few abrasive and unlikable characters (like the drug addict) and being forced to romance them just to get the normal ending adversely affected my enjoyment. -The bedroom scene minigame is bugged and they never bothered fixing this. The passion meter is tied to your monitors refresh rate and will deplete rapidly at anything higher than 30FPS, effectively making it impossible without using a third-party tool to cap your FPS. -The game is incredibly grindy. Not in the sense of being actually challenging, but in the sense that it's far too time-consuming to upgrade the RPG-style traits to the point where you can somewhat offset bad RNG in the match-3 sections. -The schedule system is poorly implemented. There is very little info available to the player regarding this mechanic, and sometimes you get screwed over by RNG. There will be times when your favorite girl is out of town for days on end. Girls are supposed to be able to drink alcohol in the evenings, as a way to increase hunie point gains for conversations, but sometimes they just refuse drinks for seemingly no reason. -The information gathering aspect gets old quickly. You have to grind for money to buy limited food items every day just to ask questions, and will often get screwed by RNG. Sometimes the girls ask questions of the player, but fail to provide relevant context to be able to actually figure out what she actually WANTS to hear, leaving it mostly a guessing game. -Sometimes the girls will quiz you on information you've learned through spending resources and time on them. Attempting to actually reference this information will make the game block it out with the smug message "nice try cheater". Again, the game expects you to max out your relationships with 8 girls. That's 8 girls with 12 unique details each. The game not only expects you to memorize trivial things like each girls' height, weight and age, but to keep them committed to memory for the entire playthrough, which is completely absurd. This is straight up an accessibility issue. The game has decent art, good voice acting, some funny dialogue and charm to it. But the gameplay has aged poorly and certain design elements overstay their welcome after a few hours, leaving me with no desire to actually finish it. In 2026, there are just far better gameplay focused h-games out there. 4/10, would not recommend.
A legendary "NSFW" game disguised as a dating puzzle. The match-3 gameplay is surprisingly hardcore and addictive, and the rest... well, you know exactly why you're buying it.
I like Nikki
Used to watch some YTers such as Lost Pause played this game. Got me curious Finally got my hands on this game. I like the puzzles Oh yeah and the anime women are pretty too I guess
The time this game being 11 years old, it's still an amazing game in 2026. I hope HuniePot make more games with the same characters! <3
