About
Grepa was not a fan of parties, but she went to anyway because her coworker couldn't stop bothering her to go in one. Upon arrival, she was lucky to come across a friend of hers who happens to be the host of the Halloween party to bear with the burdened chattering around her. All things were fine and well, until she counters a certain group of "old" friends that doesn't exactly remind her of pleasant memories.
That is when she snaps at her host friend, creating a ruckus over the party. It didn't take long for Grepa to start dashing out the front door and throwing a middle finger at them. She never wanted to go home so bad after that, but then remembered her car was busted. With that, Grepa had no choice but to walk herself back home.
She knew it wasn't going to be easy, but she didn't expect the way back to become so...
...spooky.

HUMEROUS [REBOOT] is a reboot of my old game Humerous! It is a story-rich RPG adventure horror game with VISUAL-NOVEL/HORROR PUZZLE elements, about a gal who wants to go home after an unpleasant counter at the party. Sadly her car's busted, so she has no choice but to walk home! But little did she know that taking a break from walking in the middle of a forest has it's own...consequences. How Grepa gets to home is all up to YOU to decide!

Maybe also perhaps help uncover a...cold case? She was looking at something else during that break after all...
Enjoy the story, and Happy (Days Late) Halloween!

11 endings!
Gameplay time varies depending which ending you end up with!
Fully-drawn CGS! (20+)

Thank you to my close friends, good pals, and inspirations that helped me feel motivated to make this reboot!

TLDR: YES! I don't normally buy games on a whim. It's not my style, but as an Indie developer myself, what I enjoy doing is browsing new releases to see what sticks out. What games do I click on, and why? Its an effective way to take information back to your own projects. When I saw this game, I clicked. And it took about a minute of the steam page before I bought it, and played through what I think is most of the main story, in one sitting. There's a chance I'm missing some main stuff, and defintely not all of the endings. I know how crucial reviews are to new releases, and so here I am. Let me preface my review by adding on that I am not a Visual Novel player. This will have been the first that could be described as such, and I'm probably not the target audience. However, I still enjoyed it, and have some feedback. --- The biggest draw to this game is the absolutely incredible art style. It's this peculiar collection of neon colors amid a super-dark backdrop that i personally have always been drawn to, and its part of the reason why I bought this game. In that department, I have no notes. It is phenomenal, and I cant wait to see more. The story as well, intrigued me and kept me engaged throughout. I was invested well enough, even when some things cut off the suspension of disbelief (discussed later) and I had to get back into the headspace of the game. All in all, it was pretty good. The puzzles I found particularly enjoyable, even if the actions themselves weren't all that interesting. The soundtrack, when it comes in, is always a delight. There are only a few things I didn't totally love, most are just nitpicks. The first is the controls, mainly how all movement is locked to tiles, preventing diagonal movement and making it feel slightly janky. If I'm remembering right, this is an engine limitation, and thats okay. It can be overlooked. Second, and do recall I do not know Visual Novels as well as probably the more intended audience, but I found some interactions and dialogue dragging, as a way to fill out the game a bit more, in terms of getting points and the story across. That might be perfectly acceptable for VNs and I just don't know. I play a lot of story based games, and am used to story being fed a bit slower, through slightly faster-paced interactions and player deduction. Whereas this defintely feels like closer to watching a slow-paced movie, which some will totally love, and I got used to. I avoided skipping dialogue through my playthrough to get the whole experience. Either way, even when I felt it dragged a bit, it was still interesting. I still got the feels. Some areas graphically look weird, like on islands trees are cut into nothing on the boarders of the walkable area, which looks a bit strange, and a few story choices seemed slightly weird to me, but there is a chance I missed something, and they all really can be overlooked. That's the long and short of what I've got to say. I'm very intrigued, and will follow this developer and whatever they create in the future. This was good, but I want more, like stopping before that last gulp of water at 2am that would really satiate your thirst. Do get this game, its cheap, look stunning and is overall pretty interesting in general. I cannot wait to see what comes next, and will be eagerly awaiting!
yo when's the collector's edition coming out
I've played this game before it got released on steam and updated, and i already enjoyed the game before the extra content so i recommend playing it. it has a very good story
Really cool art, and the dialog is fun. I would prefer an option to speed it up without skipping it completely though in some places it moves a little too slow.
I wish I could give this a neutral review and it would be a disservice to give it a negative review. I will start by saying that the art is fantastic and it really drew me to the game, but unfortunately I don't have the patience for the speed of the text. I turned text speed up to max but there are so many ellipses in the writing it makes it so slow and kills the pace for me. I tried holding the buttons to skip but it didn't speed it up and still got stuck on all of the ellipses in the text. The story premise is also super interesting, but I personally can't continue playing with the current text pacing but I look forward to seeing what else the dev makes as they have a fantastic style.
i like the funny frog
