Wonderful. If a little harsh. The story and the art are both really beautiful. Sometimes everything just sucks and hurts like hell and there is not a single thing you can do to make it better. You can, however, make it worse. So there is that.
I believe this was one of the first games that made me cry during gameplay. Worth every second played.
An absolute gem. in the last few years i've gotten more games with heavy stories and dark themes an tackle issues that for some could be a trigger. lisa the painful, for example, clair obscure, unavowed, and many many many more. and yes this game gives you THE FEELING. like you realize you should call your mom or dad or both and tell them how much you love them, opening door for people and smiling at everyone and i can't believe this is free

“How We Know We’re Alive” was one of the shortest games I’ve played, yet somehow it stayed with me longer than many bigger ones. It’s a quiet story about friendship, memories, and the strange feeling of revisiting parts of yourself you thought were gone. Maybe it hit me harder because I’ve been carrying my own losses lately losing my dad, and losing someone I thought would stay. The game doesn’t try too hard to be emotional, and that’s exactly why it works. I just wish it lasted a little longer.
While I don't recommend this game, it's a light "pass on it." It has a couple (might literally only be two even) moments that are interesting, but for essentially an interactive-narrative piece, it just doesn't really deliver nearly enough in trying to get you invested. That said, I will suggest keeping an eye on this studio's next project, because if they can refine a bit, I have a strong feeling they could make something quite good.
The last couple minutes of silent wandering with last scene at the ending is the cherry on top for me.
Applause for the director/developer <3
