Fun game! Challenging enough to keep me playing, but not so crazy hard that I give up haha. Hoping to finish story mode soon!
Its honestly really bad. Second mission is really hard outside of a few hero's. none of the supports have self healing to start and the Ai makes zero sense. Was able to beat the lvl by standing completely still. Animations are jarring and janky, a few misspellings in the UI and the voice acting is bad. Your bullets don't hit where your reticle is aiming so 90% of your shots miss. Good luck trying to choose pickups because you'll die the moment you stop moving. The Character designs are interesting though. All in all it feels like an alpha test or a proof of concept. Really don't like that there isn't coop for the story missions.
Hit detection and gun accuracy with characters needs work and just think this needed more time in the oven the mechanics seem alright enough but the game feels a bit janky has potential though if it keeps getting patches to balance the gameplay and maybe add more oomph to gun effects with enemies I feel like it would add to game feel along with maybe a little hit stop every time a bullet hits enemies oh maybe a reload mechanic like "Gears of War" where you can quick reload with timed reload QTE's and some rumble when shooting on controllers best wishes to the developer and keep up the good work.
Overall this is solid top down game, with a decent typical cyberpunk story. Positives: - The game is beautiful - Solid controls on mouse and keyboard, and I assume it’s better on gamepad (but I just aim better with mouse) - A lot of heroes and weapons to pick from, I played frog lady (feels a bit like old Quake in top down) and ninja Piggy D. (nice mix of arracks) - The multiplayer is loads of fun, though a bit clunky to join the game with friends (we used the custom server name option). Negatives: - No co-op for the story mode, which feels like a huge missed opportunity! I would have enjoyed to play with friends story mode - At the time of playing this (right after launch) the game has a few bugs, such as pickups dropping from enemies in places where you can’t reach - Not enough cut scenes to see the mutants in closeup. I came here to admire the frog lady, but she is tiny on screen!!
Really enjoying HoverGrease 2 so far. The mix of top-down shooter gameplay with hero shooter mechanics works really well and is quite refreshing, and the matches feel super fast-paced. Every mutant I tried had their own unique feel, abilities, and personality. Personally, I’m a fan of Sophie Bonfire and Madeye Bull. I mostly played the story mode and tried a few online matches, and both were really fun to play. Also, the style is one of the highlights for me. The bio-cyberpunk art direction looks great, and as an artist myself I love seeing a game that doesn’t use AI art yay! The environments, lighting, and effects give the game a really strong identity. Right now my only issues are a little bit of optimization and the lack of some settings like brightness adjustment, but overall it’s a thumbs up from me! Recommended!
This is a solid top-down shooter, no question. You’ve got a wide variety of weapons, and the characters actually feel thoughtfully designed, each one feels unique and genuinely interesting to explore. The 3D audio? Straight-up amazing. Seriously, it adds a ton to the experience. Overall, the sound design and level design are both top-tier. Movement is another strong point. it’s super smooth, and controlling your character feels really responsive and comfortable. You’re not fighting the controls at all, which makes a big difference in a game like this.
This game has massive potential and is incredibly fun when the combat is running smoothly. The bio-cyberpunk world looks amazing, and the character designs are exceptionally high quality, especially heroes like Piggy D who feels awesome to play with his close-combat katana style. The 5v5 multiplayer mode is highly engaging and fast-paced. Focus on optimizing framerate stability and this game will be a good hitter in no time because if its unique concept.
Did not feel this game at all. The mechanics feel bad.
After spending many hours with this game, I can honestly say that I had a fantastic time playing it. The combination of unique mutants, fun combat, great story missions, and excellent presentation kept me engaged from start to finish. The intro alone was one of the most exciting introductions I have played in a hero shooter, and every mutant felt useful and different in their own way.
Graphics:
• Beautiful bio cyberpunk world with a unique visual identity • Excellent lighting and atmosphere throughout the maps • Character designs are creative and memorable • Combat effects look impressive and make abilities feel powerful • Cutscenes are very well made and add a lot to the experience • Environments are detailed and enjoyable to explore
Gameplay:
• Every mutant feels unique with different abilities and playstyles • Story Mode was highly engaging and became my favorite part of the game • Multiplayer is fun and offers plenty of variety between characters • Large selection of weapons, shields, and utilities from the store system • Combat feels fast, responsive, and satisfying • Great balance between action, abilities, and strategy • Intro mission perfectly showcases the strengths of the game
Controls:
• Movement feels smooth and responsive • Abilities are easy to understand and use • Combat controls are comfortable during most encounters • Mouse aiming works well overall • Close range fights can become chaotic and a target lock option could improve accuracy • Grenade aiming could be more precise in intense situations
Progression:
• Unlocking and experimenting with different mutants feels rewarding • Store system provides meaningful choices during gameplay • Different equipment options allow players to adapt their playstyle • Story progression keeps introducing new situations and challenges • Characters remain fun to use throughout the experience
Difficulty:
• Easy to understand but offers plenty of action and challenge • Different mutants encourage different approaches to combat • Enemy encounters remain exciting throughout the campaign • Boss fights and larger battles create memorable moments • Rewards players who learn how each mutant works best
Optimization:
• Game performed smoothly during my playtime • No major bugs, crashes, or technical problems encountered • Visual quality remains impressive during combat heavy moments • Menus and UI are responsive and easy to navigate
Additional Feedback:
• A brightness slider would be a useful addition for players who prefer a brighter image • A map system could help with navigation and tracking explored areas • Loading screens could be improved to better match the overall presentation quality • Optional target lock functionality would help during chaotic close combat encounters
Rating:
9/10 A very creative hero shooter with fantastic character variety, excellent presentation, enjoyable multiplayer, and an engaging story campaign. The game already feels polished and fun to play, and with a few quality of life improvements it can become even better. Story Mode especially exceeded my expectations and kept me wanting to see what happened next. Highly recommended for players who enjoy action games with unique characters and strong gameplay variety.
The 5v5 is TONS of fun. I love a good battle royal, and having a top-down view adds a whole new level on interest. The characters are super weird in the best way. The humanoid mutants have a bio-cyberpunk vibe that kinda reminds me of Toxic Avenger, and I am HERE FOR IT! The action is fast-paced. Tons of challenges. Each mutant has different abilities and weapons, meaning tons of customization and play-styles. Highly recommended.
