A crazy open world racing game!
Features -Open World -Custom Track Builder -Different race modes (such as elimination and stunts) -Unlockable Cars -Customizable paint jobs -Online library for sharing custom maps and car skins -No performance or crash issues thus far My review As someone who loves racing games, but prefers something that requires skill without taking itself too seriously...this is the perfect game for me! It has 5 large open maps, that feel very unique in their design, featuring really awesome loops and points of interest. I find myself free roaming around, looking for collectables and just having fun! Games like Forza Horizon are really awesome, but the maps are WAY too large for me, without many exciting things to experience between the large sections of fields. This game finds a perfect balance in its open world design. YES, they are separated by a loading screen, but it isn't annoying enough for me to ding it on that. I will however say that I am disappointed that I cant explore the open world with friends. Hopefully this is something they add in a future update. So far im a little nervous about how much content there is in the single player experience, HOWEVER more stuff unlocks as you go, there could still be much more. I personally feel like i'll eventually reach the end of the single player content and mostly rely on the comprensive track editor. However, if you are not planning on playing any online content, I would be slightly apprehensive about buying unless you want to make maps for yourself. All and all this game is AWESOME! Collectables, customization, fun driving mechanics...I would highly recommend this game if you like racers, but are not interested in a heavy realistic experience. Just some fun racing with crazy jumps and loops.
I like this game, but I have to leave a negative review due to a critical issue.
Livery editor. This feature revolutionized racing games. It's transformed from a game solely for competition into a creative tool that incorporates elements of art, allowing creators to unleash their imagination. And of course, this game has that feature. And it's the feature I was most looking forward to. Racing games equipped with livery editors are not uncommon these days. But even so, this game has an irreplaceable unique feature, the ability to edit liveries for real life die-cast cars and cool fictional cars from Hot Wheels, and that's why I enjoyed the livery editor in this series. Unfortunately, however, the issues plaguing this very feature are the reason I was compelled to write a negative review. The moderation for livery editors in Milestone's Hot Wheels games was originally on par with, or even more lenient than, other games. However, the situation changed completely when they introduced AI into the game's moderation system. Literally everything gets incorrectly flagged as inappropriate and deleted by this insane AI. Replicas of real-world race cars or iconic fantasy cars from other video games? Banned. Original logos designed by users that don't infringe on anyone's rights? Banned. Placing an Audi hood emblem on an Audi? Banned. Under these circumstances, even if you study the guidelines thoroughly, you can't create liveries with any peace of mind. So, if you're like me and are expecting a livery editor feature, you absolutely should not buy this game in its current state. *I will revise this review if the issues with the moderation system are resolved and the standards are brought in line with those of HWU1.
The track creator limits you to the island you start on, so you cannot make a track in a unique environment. Everything is on the same island or set of islands that are actually rather small. The HUD for quests and tutorials is annoying to read through. There is no voiceover, no announcer, nothing. Have fun racing on the same island with a goofy looking King Kong flopping around all the time.
OMG THE MUSIC IS SO GOOOOOOD!!!! WHOMEVER MADE THIS SOUNDTRACK DESERVE A FREAKINMG RAISE .
I have had a blast playing this game so far, it seemed like the next most obvious step for the series following Unleashed 1 & 2. The four islands are a blast to explore, with plenty of collectables, events and random hidden parts to find, there's a good line-up of cars in the base game too which is great. The actual driving feels very fun and responsive and the new car class system definitely helps shake it up a bit! As this is a modern release there is of course already a season pass on release day, so shame about that but overall this is a solid, entertaining and fun game!
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush takes Hot Wheels Unleashed, spreads it across a Forza Horizon-style map, and somehow ends up feeling like less of a game. I loved both Unleashed games, so going open world sounded perfect. Instead, Infinite Rush looks huge until you start driving around and realize most of that “open world” is just empty pavement. It does scratch the Hot Wheels itch. The world looks right, the different car classes change up how you play, and I actually enjoyed the races. If you love Hot Wheels and Forza Horizon, there’s nothing else offering this exact combination, so you’ll probably get a few fun hours out of it. Just don’t expect Hot Wheels Horizon. This is much closer to Lego 2K Drive in terms of content and how long it stays interesting. The four islands are surprisingly small, they don’t feel different enough, and there aren’t that many actual races. Sometimes it feels like there are as many places to take pictures as there are racing events. If you’ve always wanted more photography in your racing game, fantastic news. The open world is also way too spread out. The roads are gigantic, the cars look tiny, and even with traffic around, you rarely have to dodge anything. It feels like driving a Hot Wheels car across an airport runway. Unleashed boxed you into smaller tracks, but that made everything feel faster, busier, and more like Hot Wheels. Infinite Rush gives you more room and then forgets to fill it. Then there’s the PC performance. The game doesn’t look noticeably better than Unleashed, but it sure as hell runs worse. It works fine on my main PC. On my MSI Claw, forget it. I turned everything down, dropped the resolution, and it still ran like ♥♥♥♥. The graphics settings also seem broken on some devices, with the game not always giving you the resolution or frame rate you selected. That’s what turns this from an average game into a thumbs down for me. This should be a perfect handheld game. Small toy cars, quick arcade races, and collecting hundreds of vehicles should be an easy win. There is some fun here, and hardcore Hot Wheels fans will probably enjoy it for a while. But going open world didn’t make this a better sequel. It took some decent racing, spread it way too thin, and surrounded it with photo opportunities and empty road. Infinite Rush has more map than Unleashed and somehow less going on.
I am giving this game a go but it just feels less than HWU2. Even little things like when your car would accumulate smudges and fingermarks the longer you raced. Also what is the deal with all the other cars driving around. I do not care for this pseudo Forza style approach lol I just want to race. The online also feels a little bit dead. This game is only a few days out of release and I can't even find a full ranked lobby and there is STILL no spectate while waiting feature so you have to wait for a group to finish a race before it will match you up. Honestly I am only playing because no-one is playing HWU2. If they did I'd refund this and go back to that, had nicer cars anyway.
Very cute cars and I love it. There doesn't seem to be any new stickers compared to the last games for liveries though, wish they added more options for that too.
The game feels great. Beautifully done, great car options, and it really feels like the game went for fun, rather than serious realism. I'm here to have a good time, and it gives a great time.
