+++ easy 100 % Steam Achievements + nice charming little Point & Click Adventure https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3007293100 - short (--- No 5 Trading Cards) Good for Achievement Hunters & Casual Indie Point & Click Player https://store.steampowered.com/app/726200/Hostil/
A beautiful artsy and touching game. You can die in this but there's always a per-scene rewind option. It's not a classic point-and-click adventure game, more like a hidden-object game/visual novel. If you like emotional narratives and sci-fi then get this. Recommended.

This was an interesting one: Was the price fare ? - Absolutely yes Was the game fun? - Here lies the problem. I think perhaps I was the wrong demographic for this game or that I was expecting something completely different. The screenshots of the game suggested to me a sort of point and click adventure game in the vain of the Monkey Island series or Grim Fandango. What it actually turns out to be is more of a "Hidden Objects" game where you have to point and click around the screen. The backdrops for each scene are beautifully rendered landscapes and I cant fault the gameplay mechanics so you can tell that effort has gone into this. Would i recommend it? - Yes for people who enjoy those hidden object games otherwise no.
BottomLine at the Top: An artsy but extremely short sci-fi P&C game. Only pick up on sale. Pros ------------------------------------- -Started right up. No need to adjust any settings (doesn't even have a setup menu). -Beautifully drawn backgrounds. -Atmospheric music Meh. ------------------------------------- -There are no save slots and it only autosaves to the beginning of the current screen you are on, so if you leave to the main menu before you finish what you were doing in the area you’re in it will reset all your progress. As it’s a very short game you only spend about 3 minutes in an area anyway so it’s not a huge deal. -No sprite animations. This game has more of a comic book style of gameplay with mostly static backgrounds and character interactions that really borders more on a hidden object adventure than an actual point and click game. -Extremely short, approx. 30-40 min. It goes with the overall style though, so I guess it works. Cons ------------------------------------- -This has two music puzzles which are my absolute least favorite kind of adventure game puzzle. They are short and brute forcing the combinations (which I had to do because I suck at music puzzles) was straight forward. Overall there is very little to review here because it's such a short game. At $3 regular asking price for about 30 min of gameplay I cannot recommend enough to buy this on sale. There are plenty of other P&C games that have a decent story and fun gameplay where you get way more hrs. of gameplay for an equivalent price. I recommend this primarily to the P&C connoisseur or the gamer who is into short artsy kinds of games. For those that have played oldies games using interactive tale style like me you will definitly love this one, for the rest of you, I can only say... just give it a try it won't disappoint. Graphics and music are very good and keep you sticked to the computer trying to figure out how to solve the different problems you will encounter in that hostile planet. From my experience the game is ment to be played in hard mode, this will enable death and will make every small action/desicion count, but if you get too stucked you can switch back normal, that will make things much easier but will remove some fun from my point of view. Fair price and fair amount of fun. Definitly waiting for more games from Eteru Studio.
a short but good casual game. can recommend it. the price of the game is alright.
Not that bad a game, but it has no save function, and I find that very frustrating when it takes a very long time clicking around before one solves a specific problem and can move on. Now and then I need a stopping point, because I have obligations outside of Steam games that I need to attend to. I've given up on it for the time being.
Short linear lacklustre adventure. I'm walking through 12 screens sequentially, for 40 minutes playtime. The puzzles are mostly "find the right thing to click on", with some items to be picked up and used. As the puzzles are lackluster, the game's value depends on the writing; but the story has no depth or character development (and the soundtrack didn't blow me away either) and no humor whatsoever. The artwork doesn't win any prizes, either. I'd say "good effort" if this was a student game; it comes together and works as a game, but as a whole, it's lackluster, and probably not worth anyone's time. The exception may be if you have a grade school kid who can read, so maybe age 8-10; if they're interested in Sci-Fi, they may enjoy this. If you'd like to play a better adventure where you're stranded on a foreign planet, you could try J.U.L.I.A.: Among the Stars for the puzzles (catch it on Summer or Winter sale) or Broken Age for the writing. Or you could play the free 2009 version of Morningstar before Flash Player support ends in December. I don't recommend my adult friends to spend time on this game.
It's a great story with a linear path. The story has been told a hundred times, so it will become familiar quickly and the ending will be obvious, so obvious that I would only pay 50 pence for this game. Wait for it on the sales, it's worth it just for the art and the sound which is well put together for this size of production team. Hostil is aptly named, and the first game released by a tiny team in Spain, and this is something that draws me into these kinds of games, the dedication of often small, and in this case a 2-person team. I often visualise a small town with very little going for it and some energetic people making a dream a reality by doing a thing they love by writing these games instead of getting a safe job flipping burgers. As Indicated, the art and sound is brilliant, the plot although very familiar is well laid out in the game mechanics. I would like to see more attention to logic puzzles in the game and although it's not a game that lets you ever go back to the last area, that mechanic of never going back to an area visited adds urgency and is a special device which the programmer needs to leverage a bit better. Early version of the game in 2017 frustrated players, and meant a lot of negative reviews, that frustration is all gone, but means the game is quite short. Hence I am sticking with a downvote on playtime alone. I'm definitely going to watch this game dev, because their style is great, just needs more content. The way you cannot go backtrack in the story is just so cool and fresh and brave, it works! Game is playable at a run in 15 minutes, (I am junk at games and I got 30 minutes.) So as far as bang for your buck, some free games give more playtime.
