Connected controllers vibrate, which can't be disabled.
THE ORIGIN: Blind Maid (OBM) is best described as a first-person horror adventure. You get a gun fairly early, but you should avoid the enemies whenever possible and only shoot them as a last resort, as ammunition is sparse. Sadly, even the tutorial that tells you to crouch to avoid detection is scripted in a way that makes it impossible not to be spotted, and that is only the beginning of a long list of issues I encountered in my short time with the game. You spend roughly equal amounts of the game wandering around aimlessly, comically running—with limited stamina—from enemies with unlimited stamina that somehow don't quite catch up to you despite you slowing down every few steps, and backtracking to pick up items that weren't there before. If you don't pay enough attention, you'll have no clue what you're doing, let alone what you're supposed to do, but if you pay too much attention, all the cracks quickly start to show. Given the protagonist's relative weakness, the game also offers a dodge mechanic, but if you have to use it there's a decent chance you'll get hit either way, as the dodge shakes your camera like crazy and leaves you stationary for a good second—the same happens when you get hit, so both are not only disorienting but often leave you open for more punishment. Reliably shooting the attacking enemy becomes highly unlikely, once they started attacking. Additionally, the psychopath who keeps trying to brutally murder you throughout the first chapter is invincible, as the protagonist refuses to shoot at him, even if you try. Another issue is the lack of direction throughout OBM. Where, early on, the protagonist simply refuses to take certain paths until a prerequisite is met ("I have to find Vera first"), you're later allowed to freely roam around the semi-open world, whether or not it makes sense. It's frustrating to get to a place before you're supposed to, only to see a note the protagonist refuses to pick up. You can pick up the pistol magazine and various ingredients (and take your time doing so), but to pick up that note "there's no time". It's blatantly obvious that the developers couldn't make up their minds on whether the game should be a linear, curated experience or offer freedom in a semi-open world. This also affects the various chases, as you often lead the monsters around the entire map in circles, until you find the event that makes them disappear. Other chases just make it impossible to not get hit, which is infuriating. Yet another thing that bothered me, even if it's a minor gripe in comparison, is that you can't pick up some items while standing, meaning you have to crouch to do so. Speaking of crouching, whenever you do, your (equipped) gun is invisible and you cannot aim down the iron sights, so another useful mechanic is unavailable to you until you stand up, exposing yourself.
Story
The plot follows a corrupt politician on his way out of the country, looking for political asylum. On the way to the border, when taking a short break for no logical reason, his driver and assistant Vera locks him out of the car and runs away, only to assault and leave him a bit later, only to frantically look for him in order to kill him right afterwards. Why he didn't kill him while he was knocked out? No clue. Either way, it's safe to say something is wrong with him, and by reading the various notes throughout the world, it quickly becomes clear that it's not just Vera. Monsters roam around at night, and many have already lost their minds in the area. Why Vera is affected but the (corrupted, selfish) protagonist seemingly isn't, going so far as to not being able to shoot his crazed, murderous assistant in self-defense? No clue. But since the bulletproof car is locked and later, when you have the means to unlock it, out of battery, the game quickly becomes a glorified hunt for macguffin after macguffin. Why doesn't the protagonist open the car and lock himself in until the end of the night to at least avoid the monsters? No clue.
Audiovisuals
One aspect where the game almost shines is the atmosphere. If it wasn't for some very odd sound effect choices, I'd even say the atmosphere is excellent. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2609660356 Another positive is that the protagonist's monologues are used sparingly and written believably. The voice acting in general is decent at least, and whoever butchered the written translations luckily wasn't in charge of translating the dialogues. As I mentioned above, there are sadly some very odd sound choices: High-pitched, undefinable noises near the lake and silly and childlike monster screams ruin the atmosphere and, combined with the poor audio mixing where voices are sometimes barely audible over the music, while struggles and gunshots are almost deafening, it makes for a very jarring experience. At the dock, there's a mosquito noise that is so loud that I was looking for a football-sized bug to shoot down, before I realized it was just ambiance. Much more annoying, however, is the fact that the game has horrible dynamic depth of field, blurring out absolutely everything when a random tree trunk is close to being on-screen, or when you're standing before a picket fence or near an open window. Disabling "blur" in the options does nothing to change this. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2612891320
Performance
OBM runs at butter-smooth 60 FPS at highest settings, although the rendering distance is pathetic, with assets popping in and out of existence at roughly ten meters away (even in the intro cinematic), so the performance, while positive, is hardly surprising. Tested with the following setup:

[th]CPU[/th][th]GPU[/th][th]RAM[/th]

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X @3.60 GHzNVIDIA GeForce RTX 206032GB DDR4

🔀 Supports [Alt]+[Tab]: Excellently

Business Model
Classic: Buy the game, play the game. No paid DLCs, items, loot boxes.

Conclusion
THE ORIGIN: Blind Maid has some stronger points, and the effort and love that went into it are clearly visible. Sadly, it feels like it should still be in Early Access, with its many glaring issues. And, frankly, if it still was, I would've appreciated it a lot more. As it stands I couldn't bring myself to even finish it, let alone recommending spending money on it. Ahhhhh, I have a lot of mixed feeling about this game, it is able to shine on some aspects just to 10 seconds after do something that breaks the experience. I guess that the best way to explain it is through a small list of "good/bad" things I've experience during the time I've played.
Good
-The visuals sometimes can look really good and give you some nice Resident Evil vibes. -The voice acting on some characters is pretty good, it's not perfect, but despite of that it surprised me a few times. -The story and concepts on the game are interesting and there are also a few gameplay mechanics that are interesting (like the corruption one) -The music and ambientation (with sound effects) is quite good.
Bad
(updated after day one fixes) -Despite of what I've said before, there are moments where the visuals are bad, making an stange contrast between moments where the game looks very nice and moments where the game seems to be a little bit "rushed" (as there are some 3D models that look "simple" in comparison with other ones and things like that). -The gameplay mechanics are interesting, YES, but the controls could feel better if they keep polishing them as for example I have a controller connected to my pc and the game only shows the gamepad controls on the inventory when I'm using a keyboard and mouse to play, this will probably be fixed soon, but as I've mentioned, it leaves room for the controls to be improved. -It's easy to get lost (especially at the beginning) as you have a map, that can feel misleading as it doesn't show if there are objects that won't let you pass or some structures (that's something that made me get confused when trying to escape from the "first enemy"). This could be a design choice, but as a personal opinion I would prefer if it showed those elements. -The combat system could be quite good, but to me it looks like they wanted to implement a lot of elements but without being completly able to combine them correctly. (I hope that in future fixes they polish this as after "day one fixes" they started heading twoards that) -Bugs, and glitches, (watch my video below), there are some (the bigger ones seem to have been solved after the "day one fixes"), I can see icons of pickeable objects through a wall without being in front of them at all/having visual contact with them (for exemple). -The FOV of the game is quite low and nonregulable, probably there's people that can play the game perfectly despite of that, but at least in my case having such a low FOV can be confusing and even give me a little bit of motion sickness. -There some other small details that could be polished (when you get into the inventory/evade an attack with the map "turned on" the game "turns it off" and then you need to "turn it on" again, if it worked independently and stayed "on" when doing those actions I think that the "gameplay flow" would be a little bit better), but nothing that important and probably some of those deatils and some parts of what I've said before are still "updateable". Maybe the game improves a lot in the future, but this hasn't been released as an "Early Access" and I'm updating this review after "day one fixes" (which has solve some of the biger problems of the game) because I felt that the previous version of the review was a little bit out of tone as I wrote it without expecting to see a "day one patch", I definitively could have been more soft on this review if the game had been released as an "Early Acces". I actually think that there are good ideas on this game but I can not recomend it at it's current state, but maybe in the near future (hopefully) I would be able to recomend it
As A Summary
The game is pretty interesting, it has good ideas, some strong points...but it also has some weak points (as I've mentioned) that can separate the player from what the game has to offer. I would recommend it if it was an "Early Access" as that's an state that could better reflect the state of the game. Moreover, I would like to add that if you think that the things I've mentioned are not that important to you, you might have a nice experience out of this game for it's price.
Страшненькая подруга Resident Evil.
Man, this game is bad. From game freezing bugs, to terrible controls, I couldn't even make it two hours into THE ORIGIN: Blind maid without wiping my hands of it and gleefully deleting it from my hard drive. The last straw for me was having my character freeze up at the top of the electrical tower after a cut scenes. I couldn't turn around or even pause the game. i could just go up and down, up and down. Unfortunately, Blind Maid is full of game-killing bugs like this. I mean, I 100% Fallout 3 and it was slightly better in terms of these types of bugs. UNLIKE Fallout 3 though, the save system is checkpoint only, so these bugs tend to happen long after you reach the last checkpoint but not close enough to trigger the new one. So good bye all that progress. Of course this is not a AAA game, so I can give the studio more leeway in terms of bugs than I would Bethesda. However, there really isn't anything likable about Blind Maid. Your protagonist is a corrupt politician fleeing justice after being incriminated and indited by his local jurisdiction (dude is a mayor). So it's hard to get behind a piece of scum like that, or even relate to them. The game also does a bad job of explaining the story, but that might be localization issues. Your character is fleeing from justice, but then you take a break in the middle of nowhere to call someone about a car...despite the fact you are already in a bulletproof car? Your sidekick takes off with the key, but leaves the lights on, so you know the battery is going to die. When you catch up to him, he attacks you and knocks you out cold. You have a weird dream and then wake up around some giant Lily Pads. You then learn the basics of the game, even though the inevitable chase sequence only worked once properly in the three times I had to try it. The other times, the visuals just gave out and the second time, the camera swung skyward and wouldn't go back so i had to try and figure things out blind. The third time, the game actually worked properly and it was your usual Silent Hill/.Clock Tower style "all you can do is run" sequence, which was fine. But this is the beginning of the game and i had to reload my experience twice to get it to work properly. That is NOT a good first impression. Controls are pretty bad too. Even with aiming reduced to the lowest possibly sensitivity, trying to shoot the monsters in this game is a lesson in aggravation. Your cursor is all over the place and rarely where you are trying to aim. Hit detection is barely working. After trial and error I figured out it doesn't matter where you shoot a Homunculus, it's going to take three bullets. Which is fine - expect they attack in packs and bullets are limited. Also, you can't around them or hide. If they spot you, and they will even if you are crouching and in complete darkness moving at a snail's pace. Worse is that hit detection coupled with the bad AI. I had one Homunculus get stuck in a fence and it just kept hopping up and down. I shot it multiple times dead on, and it didn't register. So when the game's combat bugs up, it hits you on multiple levels. I can't tell you how many times these things jumped at me, to where I shoot them point blank in the chest and the game doesn't even recognize this as a successful attack, but I get knocked to the ground, with my camera not even catching the attacks because it's too fast to be caught up with, only to have the monster suddenly be there by my knees, not moving, just begging for bullets to the skull. This was almost every combat in Chapter One. Interaction is awful too. Trying to pick up an herb? You will move all over it from different angles and in multiple directions just hoping the game will finally register a hotspot and let the "interact" mark come up on screen. I tried it with both controller and Mouse/Keyboard to see if the game just wasn't optimized for one of the two control schemes, but no - both suck. The same is true with multiple doors and items. This was worse than a budget Hidden Object Game in terms of getting the tiny set of pixels to accept your interaction with them. No. Don't get this game. Don't play this game. This is awful and nonsensical. The only horror is that it was released in this state.
第一 没有中文 不尊重中国市场 第二 一上来追逐战 莫名其妙 紧接着就是满地图耗时间找草药 找20分钟找齐全了 合成功能做的跟垃圾一样 总结 完全不值得购买
A great game with elements of many genres coming together in a great horror game.
There are some interesting ideas in this game, adding a crafting system and upgrades to your character are a nice touch but they are very much minimal additions, would like to see more depth added to them. There does seem to be a decent amount of effort put into this game. There are a few downsides however. The game is incredibly dark. The movement doesn't feel fluid at all and there is a lot of backtracking even at the start of the game. There's also this weird shimmer to everything. For my First impressions of The Origin: Blind Maid check out my video here: https://youtu.be/xokeG0hn3KI
This is a terrible game, crashes every time I try to play it. For the 5 minutes I can, its far too dark, horrible movement, and feels like my character is floating. Do not buy this garbage.
Very boring. Run from one side of the huge forest map to gather plants/key...repeat.....repeat ... . The forest is very tiresome and there are no interesting cut scenes in between. Save your time and money.
Seemed like an interesting idea but man, the execution. The keys can't be rebound. The mouse sensitivity, even at minimum allows me to do three complete revolutions with a six or so inch movement. Get too close to walls and the camera completely loses focus. At one point, I was grabbed by the guy you can't shoot for some reason, even when he's trying to kill you. To break free, do you mash f (the default "use" button)? No, it's x for some reason, one restart at checkpoint later. I'm now stuck in the basement area where it suddenly floods and the guy you can't shoot ignores you in a scripted sequence where you duck under water to avoid him but you need a crowbar to go out the hatch you just left. So, try to sneak around him "I found you!!!" punchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunchpunch. Think I'm going to take another break from this and try when I'm feeling more generous.
