Watch my video here https://youtu.be/zJnEHGVWWNA
Played on the Oculus Rift S via Steam. Graphics is okay. It's sharp and clean. Good amazing lighting and high textures. Audio is very good. Nice background noise and clean directional sound. The gameplay is a jump simulator and it's doesn't do amazing at it. It isn't bad, but I would say I've played better games. At this price of 7 bones I'm okay with what I played. It's linear and there isn't a whole lot that you can interact with. Your on a ride of fear in another scary mansion because scary mansions are the shiz for scary games. I do like how twisted it all feels and this plus the price is why I'm 50/50 on this game.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/XZCSnmu-Q9g This is a horror walking simulator where you're investigating a haunted abandoned manor. It is better than the average VR horror game. Normally, that would mean a positive recommendation and at least a 6/10 score from me. However, I just can't do it in this case. Why? Because the average VR horror game is terrible. I expect more in 2020, I probably would have recommend this game back in 2018. Not anymore. Now, this game isn't terrible, but I wouldn't call it good enough to recommend either. I just experienced so many issues. The bad outweighed the good. I did one playthrough that took me a bit longer than 1 hour and I still didn't get to the end (I got stuck). It says it is a procedurally generated haunted house, but I didn't notice much difference in my second abbreviated playthrough. A lot of the stuff was exactly the same. So you do have full locomotion. Unfortunately, you walk at a snail's pace. There is no smooth or snap turning. A lot of the interactions are very rudimentary. There's like a white symbol prompt at the door for you to press trigger to open or to insert the key, which is usually already gone from your hand. You will clip through many objects. There are pathing issues as well. You will get error messages which say for you to move back into your playspace. Your motion controllers will drop down to the ground and above you. It's like they are possessed (no, my tracking is fine, I played Beat Saber before and after without any issues with tracking). The visuals are better than the average VR horror game, but again, that's because most VR horror games are terrible. The visuals really aren't good. The game did run fine for me for the most part on my 1060 GTX (usually running at 90 fps with only few frame rate drops). A lot of the 3D models are not well detailed and many of the 3D model assets are re-used several times in the game. The 3D animations are poor quality. The 3D environmental scenes are pretty good though. The lighting is also better than most VR games, but not good overall. It's not realistic. It's too dark in certain sections, but it's functional for the game for the most part. The sound design can be awesome .... at times. There is good spatial audio ... at times. However, just like the lighting, it is a mixed bag. There are several parts of the game where the spatial audio just wasn't correct. I heard a sound one way, but the thing was actually in a different direction. The gameplay loop wasn't very interesting. A lot of it was just find the key or follow the correct sequence of interactions. Sometimes, that correct sequence was baffling. Also, there's so many jump scares in this game. Some of them got me, but most of them didn't. The atmosphere and pacing though, just weren't done well. There is also almost no story. They just throw one jump scare after another at you. There's just too many negatives for me to recommend this game. Yeah, it's better than the average VR horror game. I usually would give this a 6/10. But, as you see from my review, there's a reason why I'm using my sound judgment to fudge my normal score rating in this case. Rate 4.5/10. AFFECTED: The Manor is very similar to this game, although it is a much shorter game. Like Horror Adventure VR, you also walk around in a haunted house and see scary stuff. Even though it's from 2017, It's much better IMO, relying less on jump scares and more on atmosphere and pacing.
I have loved it, it is pure low-budget indie, but you can see the love that the developers have given it despite its unfinished textures and multiple bugs; if you are a lover of terror and scares, there are many here, I have loved it how well optimized it is for rift s, especially how good the black colors look, that is a detail that most developers do not take into account. thanks for the game; I hope you can update to correct the errors. for me it has been a good horror experience in vr,
Game costs a dollar yet I still felt ripped off.
Here ye here ye! This game hath ought not to be purchased on any fine evening, for it is greatly misleading. Oh great heavens!! The blessed thing hardly runs without complications! Why, I hardly indulged in this activity for but forty minutes before encountering a venture discontinuation! Cursed be this game! It has brought great troubles upon my livelihood.
Spooky enough, but the bugs are tremendous (sometimes hilarious)!
You can buy when discount otherwise don't touch it. It's so dark game you cannot even adjust your settings. You should find items for lighting in the dark. We cannot turn with controller so you must play on standing. Some jumpscare exists in game it was really creepy and good. There is not much stories. You have to find puzzles in some episodes. Anyway i don't recommend this game.
Problems: - you move way too slow - you can't turn with the controllers, you need to turn physically - there are some minor glitches (like misplaced objects) - it's simply too expensive. only buy this when it's on sale Good: - creepy atmosphere and a few jumpscares - cheap, but they work
Muy buen juego de terror en VR...además con sistema procedural para loa suatos. XD Como pega...diré que no está muy bien implantado los mandos de oculus rift s...ya que se cambian de posición las manos constantemente...aún asi merece la pena, sobre todo en oferta
