Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 26 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Add-ons
Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; GOG, Epic publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.
Updates
Build ids and update times come straight from Steam's PICS — the same source SteamDB reads. Patch history grows as we record new builds.

Does not work on modern Mac hardware. Tried this on my MacBook Pro 16" M3 Pro, and it is unplayable. Do not buy.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Best strategy series out there, and this one lives up to it.

WHAT I swore to God I'd left my review of this game Get it--it's amazing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy555tQIwag also check if Ssethtzeentach, Mandaloregaming, Grimbeard, Civvie11, and/or Warlockracy already made their review of any game you're thinking about getting. If at least one of those five did, it's probably gun b gud. If none of them did, it may be slop
ngl they may've made a review video just for how bad it was too
Leaving this review again, because also curious how PC specs profile works now on steam. But this is by far one of the prettiest yet most well optimized games I've ever even seen--literally Deserts of Kharak is some GTA V or The Witcher 3
the real version, Witcher 3 Classic, not the slop Enhanced Edition which is broken af changed Aard for the worse and adds *nothing* to TW3 while making a formerly well optimized game run like garbage on high end rigs, and the same is mostly true now for anything formerly well optimized that's "updated" like say, Sinking City or GTA V--always download the classic version of great games instead!
optimization witchcraft, I literally played this game on ultra settings with a Radeon HD 7570 1gb originally, which was at the time like running a 9600GT paired with a i5 3550p 4c/4t 3.1-3.3ghz, 8gb DDR3 on a 1tb HDD. THAT is what I beat this game with the first time
1366x768p admittedly, but still
so even if you have literally ewaste like GT1050 2gb/RX 550 2gb & a dualcore 2c/4t CPU you're gonna run this pretty af game. All that astonishment at good old game optimizations aside, the rest of the game is well see Mandy's review. It's not Homeworld 1/Homeworld: Cataclysm tier, but that's like saying "this crpg doesn't quite reach Planescape Torment greatness" that I can utter it in the same sentence is a good sign. Deserts of Kharak is what combination of excellent writing, project lead, audio engineers and composers & art design all working well as an inspired team having a good time looks like. I personally thought the writing of this game was great, & also the little graphical effects like watching downed fighters skip across sand leaving permanent wreckage was mindblowing to me at the time. While not 3D like normal Homeworld games, the gameplay itself is really tight. I can highly recommend this game at full price. Given it's at 90% off, you'd have to be a complete goober to not get this game for five bucks. Srsly you're getting one of the best RTS games made, for the price of a coffee and a snack. 9/10 game.
Got this gem on 90% sale and it was worth it
Very crisp visuals. I love homeworld lore because of this game and not the space RTS.
好游戏!就是不够玩,意犹未尽!要是能用DLC种族玩战役就好了
underrated gem
