Before I played Home: A Quarantine Story, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Personally, it was a good game to play with a good story. The problem I had with it was the artwork. It's fine for the sprites but not the head-shots, they look like they were ripped from those 3d porn flash games and it turned me off from continuing to play for a long while. The ending was abrupt, and that was disappointing, no closure or resolve, it seemed like things were getting started but then ended. But it could be just one of many endings, so can't really say for sure.

#tinygamereview

The soul of a visual novel, trapped in and RPGMaker body, that dreamt of becoming a novella
🟨 MISMATCHED 🟨

🎮 🟥Gameplay: nothing to really speak of; the actual "gameplay" is like any RPGMaker-esque, and it didn't seem to lean in to being "point-and-click" (I instinctively played it with a controller because of how it looks). Most of the (sadly-inconsequential, but interesting nevertheless) background is told through inspecting random objects and environmental details in the way that, for example, switching between interaction cursors was made for, but are absent from, here. 📖 🟩Narrative: its strongest point, hampered by what feels like a mismatched medium. A "true" point-and-click with snappier textboxes (and some edits for length) could have worked better; a visual novel, even moreso. Heck, I'd read this as a novella. 🔊 🟧Audio: vibey instrumentals, but not memorable 🖼️ 🟨Visuals: felt like the setting/era, aesthetic, and visual style were less-than-coherent; dialogue fit the setting, backgrounds and sprites (which I thought were independently-gorgeous) looked like a mishmash of turn-of-the-20th-century parochial attire, visual style was like something out of the late 1990s (which I love).

#memorycard
What stood out: 📌Family dynamics that are equally familiar and weird 📌Oddly-matched elements made it feel like a fevre dream Who it's for: 🎁Visual novel enthusiasts who just want a visual novel that uses a different engine for a change? 🎁Anybody who wants to look back and relate to the awkward hostilities of the early COVID-times, then reflect on how even that seems better than nowadays 🎁Lovers of whatever you call that late-90s pre-rendered-everything aesthetic

🤓Curator: Brickroad Amusements
