Hockey Legacy Manager 24

It's an alright sports sim/manager game but a bit too lightweight to my taste, especially for PC gaming. The game is missing some crucial elements - player fatigue, team/line-specific tactics, and player ratings/game feedback are most glaring omissions - so what's left is more of a roster construction & lineup building game. The mobile roots of the UI are also not quite optimal for desktop resolutions and mouse interaction. On the other hand, simulation speed is lightning quick and HLM has some very impressive innovations - the way trade deadlines and free agency kickoffs are handled is the best I've encountered (seriously, even Football Manager could learn a thing or two here). The way the game tracks your players' progress in international tournaments is also really nice, as is data presentation in general. Assuming the mobile version is generally comparable to what I've seen here, I'd certainly recommend that one.

With community rosters available and a lot of depth, this is a great and very affordable hockey sim for the GM fanatics out there. Great to finally see this available on pc as well as mobile. The one negative at this point is the game is not Steam Deck compatible.

Really fun and affordable game. Maybe some changes to the UI would improve the overall quality even more. Things I liked: +The family system: I really like to see If my superstar player has a son I will recruit in 15 years. Or if his cousin is playing in a rival team, I don't know if this feature affects gameplay in any way. But it's a neat detail. +Simming is quite fast and straightforward. I simulated an entire season in less than 15 minutes. + Drafting, free agency, and trading + You can download community rosters. +It looks like every player has a face picture in their profile, I assume it has a small pool of face pictures, but at least for now, I haven't noticed any duplicates. What I disliked: - I'm not a big fan of toggle switches and sliders for most of the settings options. -The UI is alright, but I feel some elements could be bigger or some parts could be rearranged differently. For example: The main sidemenu.

Coming from EHM and FHM9 i was looking for a cheaper alternative then FHM10, I have played HLM23 and HLM24 (The Free Versions) both on my iPhone and it was always a good experience to have fun with, but I could never get the full experience, I was loving it nonetheless so I decided to purchase it on PC when i saw the chance and join the discord. That was a great idea. so far the game has been amazing and I would recommend it to any hockey fan, especially those who love franchise modes. Pros Simple to use Easy to mod Family trees Amazing development control Great season customization And plenty more! Cons Freezes time to time Chemistry can be annoying (skill issue lol) 10/10 would recommend

I'd like to note before we get into this review that I have spent hundreds of hours of my life on the mobile version of this game and its predecessors. Hockey Legacy Manager 24 is an incredible game with limitless potential for simulating your career as a general manager of a major league club. Though the game doesn't currently have the detailed stats of its current largest competitors on the platform (Franchise Hockey Manager 10 and Eastside Hockey Manager), HLM has, in my opinion, the most intuitive UI and control scheme, not being bogged down with endless minutiae that can make its rivals appear clunky and bloated to newcomers to the franchise management scene. Honestly, the only issue that HLM24 currently possesses on the PC port is that one can tell its UI was natively designed for mobile users, and many parts of it have an awkward appearance on wide-screen monitors. A lack of UI customisation at this point in time leads to a lot of weird spacing altogether that can be hard to adapt to. However, it is worth noting that this port is freshly made, and given how much work the developers put in addressing bugs and implementing new features on the mobile port, I imagine they're working on an alternate UI design or customisation features for it for this version. [h1] Overall Score: [spoiler]7/10[/spoiler] [/h1] It is worth noting that this rating would be a [spoiler]solid 9/10[/spoiler] with some overhauls to the UI on PC. This game is a fantastic time sink with endless amounts of creativity just waiting to be unleashed, all at a fraction of the price of its competitors. EDIT: I have lowered both scores due to running into multiple issues with significant lag spikes that are not present on the mobile version. I would guess that the systems that allow it to run smoothly on mobile haven't been properly converted on modern PCs.

Good game, offers a very good value for this price. Pros: a) very streamlined gameplay b) open for customizations c) good new features (staff improvement, families, see player improvement, many setup options, trade deadline day, draft management) not known from EHM or FHM d) good story telling with playoff streaks etc. Cons: a) player attributes could be more detailed (for example speed, skating skills, mental attributes) b) News section is a bit thin (could be more information about streaks and playoff results) Features on my wish list: a) more/detailed player attributes b) allow promotion/relegation in leagues c) allow custom tournaments d) media relations overall a good game :-)

I could never get into EHM or FHM, but I really have enjoyed this one. For $8.99, this is a steal. It is extremely in depth and it is very easy to hop in and play, no complicated BS or awful/cheap UI. I really wish it was Steam Deck compatible though, that would give it a huge boost for me. My big con is the freezing that occurs somewhat often, so if you are playing, make sure to save as much as you can. There are a few bugs but nothing major. If you have any interest in a hockey GM game, I recommend this. It is the best on the market in my opinion. Hopefully the freezing gets fixed and we can potentially get it steam deck verified next game.

When you are sitting at home and sick as a dog this is a great pickup at a bargain price. Nothing flashy but fun and well laid out.

Simply put for the price an amazing sim. Absolute must if you're into hockey sims. You can customise almost all aspects of the game, plus with a robust community for rosters this is a must have. I have played HLM since 20 came out on iPad and it's gotten better and better every year. For those that will complain "BUt iT DoEsn'T hAvE nHl roSteR's" read my previous comment, it's highly customizable and you have a great community with their rosters. This game does it all and for a fraction of the price of another hockey sim available on Steam Yeah I'm looking your way FH something something :)
