About

HISPANIA is the computer adaptation of a famous historical board game that broadly depicts the two thousand years of history of the Hispanian Peninsula. The game begins with the Carthaginian invasion in the 240’s BC and continues through the ages till the key events of the Reconquista in the 13th century, with all the many struggles between Celts, Carthaginian, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths, Umayyad, Castilians and many other nations and tribes.
HISPANIA allows players to re-create this epic history, re-enacting important battles in some cases, altering the course of history in others. The game rules discourage players from making historically unrealistic moves, but also give players the freedom to alter Spain’s early history in important ways, creating countless interesting “what if?” scenarios. What if Carthaginian had not been defeated by the Romans, or if the decaying Visigoth Kingdom had withstood the Muslim invasion of 709 AD? Or the great Al-Andalus state had survived its fragmentation and reunited enough to withstand the Christian offensive in the 12th century?
Playable on PC and Mac, solo versus the AI or against other players in Multiplayer games.

The game has 4 scenarios of variable length:
Rex Hispaniae : the complete campaign starting in the 2nd century BC and till the 13th century AD
Furor Barbarorum: a campaign starting in the 6th century with the Germanic invasions of the peninsula
Al-Andalus: a campaign starting in the early 8th century with the Muslim conquest
Reconquista: a campaign starting in the 12th century when the Christian kingdoms in the north start their move towards the south.
HISPANIA, using the Invasions engine, faithfully recreates the simple, fast and very interactive rules of the original boardgame. All fastidious elements of the physical version, such as population growth or rolling numerous dice in battles is simply and elegantly taken over by the engine, making the game experience faster and allowing players to concentrate on strategies rather than mechanics.
This version offers more scenarios, and later on DLCs with new characters, more turns of gameplay, the option to play on a classical medieval-themed look or a more modern 3D-like environment, more units and leaders. A set of variant rules will come also later as an extra content for those who want a deeper and more challenging experience.
Number of Players: 1 to 4. Multiplayer possible.
Number of Scenarios: 3, plus a grand campaign of 25 turns.
Languages: English, French, Spanish and Portuguese in basic version. German, Russian and Italian coming soon, Chinese planned

Hispania - Historical strategy with board game roots I took a closer look at Hispania by Avalon Digital, a digital strategy game that retells the history of the Iberian peninsula over two millennia. Sounds exciting at first, especially for fans of historical games. The question was: does the board game implementation work as a video game? Lots of history, lots of scenarios The game starts with the Carthaginian invasion in 240 BC and covers several major eras. You can choose from four scenarios: Rex Hispaniae: The complete campaign, so you take everything from the Romans to the Reconquista. Furor Barbarorum: Germanic tribes invade and turn everything upside down in the 6th century. Al-Andalus: The Muslim expansion in the 8th century - can you keep the Iberian peninsula under control as a player? Reconquista: Christian kingdoms try to reconquer the country from the 12th century onwards. These different eras bring a lot of variety, and there are some "what if?" scenarios that could be exciting, especially for history buffs. Game mechanics - board game feeling with digital advantages Since the game is based on a board game, the rules are quite structured. There is the so-called invasion engine, which ensures that the game feels fluid and interactive. The AI takes over many of the more complex calculations that you would have to do yourself in a physical board game, e.g. population growth or dice results. This keeps the focus on the actual decisions and not on micromanagement. What I liked: You can play alone against the AI or against other players. There are also two graphics modes - a classic medieval look and a more modern 3D view. The graphic style in particular is probably a matter of taste, but at least there is a choice. Conclusion - Who is the game worth it for? If you like historical strategy and don't mind a board game-like style of play, Hispania can be really fun. The different eras and nations add variety, and the game feels more snappy than a classic board game thanks to the automation. It's definitely a niche title, but for fans of the genre, it's an interesting alternative to more complex grand strategy games.
A fine similar game to Britannia. At least it should be fine. But right now, Nations Cardboards explaining how to score victory points are a real mess. Which is not really important because right now, most of the VPs are not tallied. The game is simply not playable. If you add that there is little to no communication from developperss about these issues. Will recommend it when this game will be fixed and playable.
The third round is not scored. Please fix it.
A good newborn of the Invasions series, definitely worth a try
Remember me, old good Britania, but i think Hispania clould be better
una autentica decepcion
