3DA opens virtual windows to the past. Is there anybody out there who would be interested to look 80 years back when the largest flying machine ever built cruised the sky? Slightly colorized by imagination but still the detailed and genuine 3D reconstruction of largest flying machine ever built - LZ 129 Hindenburg.

Inhalt: Die Hindenburg in 3D.
I mean... I like that someone made this for VR, as a history buff... But there's like 5-10 minutes of gameplay, with the worst graphics I've seen in VR yet. Wouldn't be impressed if this were a free app, but for the cost of this??? Even on sale? Save your money.
On the hole a generally enjoyable experience. I do hope the developer updates this experience later on as there is a lot of lost potential. Please allow normal walking options (my personal pet peeve) the current move setup forces you to clip through walls and floors Better textures, Different scenery options would really go well to give a better idea of scale and speed (good examples would be flying over the pyramids and the titanic, inside the hanger and at its maximum altitude. Animations for the crew and passengers. Maybe add information points around the ship (toggle on and off) so you can explore the ship at your leisure.
As a bit of an airship enthusiast I was really impressed with Hindenburg VR experience. The author got every little detail right, including the front and back control center, pathways inside the airship, engine rooms, smoking room, restaurant, A and B passenger rooms and even illustrations on the walls! I visited a Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, but here I actually learned more details about the Hindenburg internals. People who are dissapointed with this VR app are probably so because this is not a real game. It is a VR experience, and after you visit every place in the airship and play with scenarios (Hindenburg disaster and RC Hindenburg) there is not much else to do. It took me below two hours to finish everything. Still, I am interested in the topic, so it was good use of my money.
Hindenburg VR has been a much anticipated educational tool that I've been looking forward to for several months now. It wasn't until the head of 3DA got ahold of me personally that I knew that it was available to experience. I can tell you that, although my wife and I received this experience for free, we fully intend to purchase this game at full price. It is well worth the $12 asking price, and I am very much interested in supporting this project as much as I possibly can. My wife and I even searched for a way to purchase this for schools, but didn't see anything at first glance. Anyway, before I ramble too much, on to the review!! Hindenburg VR is a thorough endeavour with a lot of work obviously spent on it. The infamous zeppelin is, as far as I'm able to tell, perfectly scaled, and you are able to explore every part that is physically accessible. The parts that are not accessible or visible are still able to be viewed thanks to a feature that allows you to see the various layers of construction at the press of a button. This was honestly what I came for and, from an educational standpoint, there is a lot to be said for the power of VR as a learning tool. You can see the cramped quarters of the engine rooms, the narrow walkways next to the enormous hydrogen balloons, and even what it was like to stand on the ground outside with the Hindenburg floating right next to you. Pictures simply do NOT do it justice at all. If this was not enough on its own, there's also a mode where you are able to pilot the Hindenburg. I'm not certain how accurate the physics are compared to that of an actual zeppelin or whether it's able to emulate the structural failure that theoretically led to the demise of the HIndenburg, but it's certainly neat to pilot something that huge either way. There was also a mode to see everything at night with only a flashlight available for navigation. Obviously, this isn't really much of an additional feature, but it did add a new feeling of its own to the experience. Standing next to the blimp at night actually gave me an odd feeling that I wasn't quite able to place. 3DA does have a "crash" mode that's still upcoming. I'm assuming that this would allow you to either explore the crash site or witness the crash itself at its various stages both inside and outside the Hindenburg. The actual theoretical mechanics of the disaster (that was put forth at the disaster's hearing by the father of the zeppelin, Hugo Eckener) is a fascinating series of events and will be exciting to learn about and visually see in VR. Now that I've showered it with praise, there are still just a couple minor issues that some people may have. They are small, but worth mentioning both for the devs that are trying to make this the best experience they can and to keep potential buyers informed of what to expect. I'll start with one of the small things, though, and that is the GUI for menu selection could use some work. As it stands, you have to hold the right trigger (on the Vive controller), move the controller forward until the item you're selecting turns green or looks "selected", then let go. It would be much easier to have either a "laser pointer" (ray cast from the controller to selection and trigger to confirm) or a "tap" the selection to continue (haven't tried to do this in UE4 yet, but it would be the controller version of "OnActorOverlap". "OnControllerOverlap", maybe? Or perhaps you would need to set the controller as an actor?). If there is anything that the average consumer would speak poorly about in this game, it would most likely be the texture quality. I want to make sure that it is understood that this is NOT a huge detractor to the experience's quality or to one's enjoyment of the it!! How is that possible? I guess the best analogy I can give is this: If you had the chance to be on board the Hindenburg for a day (crashing and fiery death aside, of course), would you be wanting to explore the zeppelin or would you want to go into a corner and examine the wallpaper? I'm sure for some people, they might actually want the latter, but that person is not me. I'm actually fairly certain that the quality of some of the textures may be a result of them being based on actual photos of the Hindenburg! Even if they aren't, though, the textures are decent. This isn't made by a business with millions to spend on rendering, but it's not like the experience looks like Wolfenstein 3D, either. As an educational tool, this experience succeeds in every aspect. As it stands, I feel this game is worth $12 as is -- even as much as $15. Once the "crash" mode is completed, I believe it could be worth as much as $20 (depending on what that mode is like, of course). I've only played for a short while as is, but I look forward to spending much more time with this. Should you buy it? It depends on what you're looking for. If you are looking for a game, then no. If you are looking for a zeppelin flight simulator, I would still have to say 'no'. If you are looking for an educational title or are interested in the Hindenburg zeppelin / disaster then I'd grab this. I'd also grab it if you're interested in history in the slightest. I'd also, of course, make sure you have an HTC Vive VR headset. It does not work with the CV1 Rift! Thanks, 3DA!! Hope to see more from you in the future!! ~Julia
It was enjoyable, though basic. A little over priced but since it appears the developer is small and potentially has a small number of people interested in the Hindenburg, I can see why it is priced as such. The textures are not detailed enough and need work. The ship is actually very well done, overall.
In a big sale worth checking out if you are interested in airships. Positives: - Always been fascinated with the idea of airships and this is as close as you are likely to get on one. - Accurately recreated for genuine authentic feeling. Issues: - With the Index controllers my hands were inverted but still more or less playable. - The textures close up are very low-res but the close attention to detail in recreating the Hindenburg from the pictures does somewhat make up for that. Simple enhancements which would make me recommend: - I would like a free movement system rather than just teleporting. - I would like more voice overs, particularly ones that might trigger as you enter different rooms on the airship. - I would like a 'tourist' mode where the airship appears to fly over various landmarks with you inside. - Enable us to RC the airship from a scale height or even onboard...
