This game is 100% grind. And 2 day early release you devs pulled almost had me refund it and i really should have. No servers to connect to, just a Quit screen and a time date for the servers. Kinda annoying move to be honest, I bought the game that day to cure boredom and felt ♥♥♥♥♥♥' scammed, but i was really intrigued by this TD, so i waited it out. What a grindy piece of ♥♥♥♥ this ended up being. Also, Anti Aliasing is CRAP in this game! Anyways... For my 3 hours of play which was numerous attempts at the "easy" difficulty (which i never got to beat because the game is balanced around the player upgrading towers from the menu WHICH IS WHY THE GAME IS 100% GRIND i'll explain more later). I ended up losing far into the match, Around the time where some Blue dragons come in a wave, one time i got farther. This game has you constantly wondering what the hell you should even be doing to maximise your damage output. So you end up doing all kinds of upgrading from Towers to a Tree and then you got buttons to summon additional enemies for more risk and reward(which also have cooldowns). But you literally HAVE to be taking these risks or you won't get far at all. You have to constantly be merging your towers or you'll "get stuck". Basically, you have a limited amount of Towers placeable at any time. Tree upgrades allow more, but what can happen is you place some towers down and can't merge any, so you either gotta sell to start merging or wait it out for the next tree upgrade which costs Lumber. BTW i forgot to mention there's Gold and Lumber resources. I can forgive the above, because its a matter of balancing. But not what im about to mention below. Onto the GRIND! You pay to play and grind heavily while they also have a cash shop for premium currency. So far it's nothing too serious in there P2W-wise. The Towers page has you spend a Tome currency to lvl up the towers. They get like 15% Increases to Initial stats and stuff like Increased chance for the Family/Group it belongs to to roll when you make towers, or even a stat unique to it. They're big upgrades, which means the balance is balanced around getting them. I only received 2 of the lowest rarity Tome currency. Thats' right, there's rarities of Tomes which give more EXP im assuming because i lamented over which Tower i was going to lvl up only to realize it was 10 EXP per Tome and 150 EXP needed :) The 2 Tomes i received were from a mail i received in game along with 200 Soul Gems. I did not receive any Tomes for playing the game yet. I got 19 Soul gems from playing. Then we got Cosmetics which cost the Soul Gem currency. This is one you get for playing, win or lose it would seem. The cosmetics also have Stats on them which is nice for meta progression sure, but you get like 7 Shards in a run if you make it far like i was and they cost varying prices from 50-350 or more, mostly ranging in the higher 200+ amounts. Just dogs for pets. They also have different stats you can choose from. They cost Leather currency. Which i got a few of as well but not a lot. So again, in my 3 hours. I felt like i accomplished nothing and got nothing for my time in terms of progression. Literally feels like I wasted my morning. Losing loses you prestige points. Quitting to restart can also lose you Prestige points. The game's difficulty is retarded as ♥♥♥♥ im not gonna lie. The Easy mode for ♥♥♥♥ sake. I felt like my runs were going perfect but then NOPE LMAO RUNS OVER. Like... My best run I had 16+ Towers going, 5 of them Five-Starred, numerous 3-4 Stars and lots of Synergies going. I had lots of T2 and a few T3 items equipped on my Towers too. Hell, one of them was an Ancient Tier Tower, Druidess which had some sick items to boost summons. Treant summon was a monster, one of the ONLY units in the game that had a chance to give you Lumber on kill and this guy was One Shotting most things coming out. Clearing everything just fine, I have some items on my Towers that provide vision of invisible units too, so none of those were an issue. But then suddenly the Leak Counter started to count down and it was GG, here's 7 Shards and 5 Leathers for nearly an hour of your time. The game doesn't have a proper lobby system. It has Rooms where you need to know the name and search for it to join another player. So Co-op is off the table i guess. One of my runs bugged out and all the Models in the game aside from environment/map disappeared. I could still hear them but as a result of not being able to see anything, I also could not click on anything. Quitting this match is how i found out about losing Prestige. Which im still not sure what its actually for. It's one of the rewards and you start with 100. Im assuming its just a Ranking statistic. Anyways, I wanna say there's a GREAT TD game here but its muddied with severe grind that makes it feel like a slog. Unless winning an easy match gives more than the stated +2 Prestige Points and +10 Soul Gems. Idk how the ♥♥♥♥ you make any progression in this game in a meaningful time. Edit: lol In response to the guy who made a review to basically comment about my review. lol. Lmao even. Also. You can literally buy Leathers with the Premium Currency. Leathers buy Hounds and Hounds have STATS/BONUSES. I stand by my comments about the grind. It is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ atrocious. Update: Beat the easy difficulty and my reward was 30 Soul Gems, 4 Leathers and +2 Prestige (Ranking) I didn't get a single Tome for my efforts either. I come to find that the Tomes are rewarded for playing on Hard Solo mode or playing Co-op and killing The One-Eyed Monster or dealing 1.5 million damage to it. Hard Solo brings monster HP from the 80% I was dealing with to 125%. 45% increase in HP is actually insane, considering how hard easy was. Decided to uninstall after seeing the rewards i got for beating it. I won't be changing my review or looking back. One more thing. Why is it always the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map, why is there no map selection?
One of the greatest games I've ever played in my life. After knowing that this game was develop by only a person made me very surprise that he could make this far. This game is absolute 10 out of 10.
This is a awesome remake and standalone version of the Heroic Origins: Galaxy TD from wc3 my favorite game in Wc3. this game is not like any other TD games and gets me playing for hours on end. it is awesome to play together with friends and clear the monsters together. the only downside is the price of this game. if it was lowered to $5 instead of $15 the playerbase would grow quicker. and for those who are not sure about the price. well it is still worth it, the game is simple, and awesome!
Nah... what a bad TD concept. No real progress, way to grindy and ingame purchases / p2w? In 2026? Also using racist names for towers is a no-go... To top it all, the tutorial wont explain you the most importand stuff and also it looks like an asset flip. Pretty sure that Blizzard won't be too happy, when they find one of their maps stolen.
After playing ALOT of TD this is one of my favorite ever. Give it a try. To awnser the negative review: It's understandable that you feel frustrated with the initial experience of the game, especially with the early access server issues and the steep learning curve. However, it seems like your review might be missing some key aspects of the game's design, which, for many players, are exactly what make it so engaging. You mention the "100% grind" repeatedly. While the game is certainly a grind, that's a core part of its appeal and challenge. The progression system, with its upgrades and meta-progression, is designed to be a long-term journey. The satisfaction comes not just from winning a single match, but from gradually building up your tower stats and knowledge over many runs. For a tower defense game, this kind of long-term challenge is what keeps players invested and coming back for more. You also raised concerns about the cash shop and the potential for a "pay-to-win" (P2W) model. It's a valid concern with many modern games, but as you mentioned yourself, the cash shop is limited to cosmetic items with no impact on a tower's stats. This is a crucial distinction. The fact that the most impactful progression—the Tomes and other upgrades—is earned purely through gameplay ensures that success is based on skill and time investment, not on how much money you're willing to spend. Regarding your difficulty with the "Easy" mode, it's possible that you're approaching it with the wrong mindset. This game is known for being difficult to learn and master, but once you understand the basic mechanics and synergies, it becomes one of the most rewarding tower defense games available. It sounds like you were on the right track with understanding the importance of merging, items, and summons, but perhaps there was a critical piece of the puzzle you were missing. The need to constantly adapt your strategy and make use of all available resources is what separates a good player from a great one. It's not about being a "grind," but rather about building on your knowledge run after run. Finally, it's worth noting that this game is based on a classic custom game from Warcraft 3. These types of games are known for their intricate, often unforgiving mechanics and a high skill ceiling. The design you're describing, with its complex upgrade systems and unpredictable outcomes, is a deliberate homage to that style of gameplay. The bugs and rough edges you experienced are unfortunate, but given its roots, the core gameplay loop is what will ultimately define the experience for players who enjoy this niche. For them, the challenge is the point.
Very nice game, 10 / 10
By far one of the most interesting Tower Defense Games I've ever played. Upside: This is not your average TD game where you simply ruush through the levels. The replaiablity this game offers is immense due to the huge number of unlocks and possible different tactics, but also due to it's high scaling difficulty. You never run out of things to do, but it seldomly feels grindy, because you always unlock new stuff and learn new Tower synergies, item combos, etc. that feel like fresh and interesting new ways of playing the game. Vview has created something beautiful here and those who played the WC3 map before know how much dedication he put into this. The best thing is due to this being his game, he no further has to live with any limitations WC3 might have laid upon him. Downside: 1. First of all: Bugs: There are still several of them, but the most tremendous are usually fixed in a day. View regularly reads and engages with his community on Discord and reacts very quickly. This doesn't mean that the game is free of bugs though. Some are still quite obvious. Some are hard to reproduce and some can simply ruin your gamne (UI suddenly freezing, not allowing you to build towers anymore or merge items). As I said the really problematic ones that hurt the game experience with more than just a detailed Tower page not going away until you click something else are fixed very quickly though. 2. Content(or the lack of it): Of course the game doesn't offer the huge content HoGTD offered in WC3. But this game is in it's first season and for that I personally think it offers a lot. Some might argue the successor to an existing game should always offer more, but as someone who works in IT myself I can tell you that you also need to test and balance everything you add to such a game and that can take aeons. Currently there are a few towers missing from WC3 and you can't invest as much farmed materials as you could in WC3, but I am sure there's a lot for us to come if we just be a little more patient. 3.Balancing: Some strategies are currently not as good as others. To say it clearly: Red Demon sucks :D While some Gold-Tier Towers can carry you easily through Easy, Normal and Hard difficulty, others are simply garbage or require extremely great Items to halfway work. It's not as bad as it might sound as every Faction at least has 2 of their Gold-Tier Towers being absolutely playable and it's possible to win even Extreme Difficulty with them, but there is still some rebalancing work to be done.
I already played the original version back in Warcraft 3, so I was very excited for the standalone release. What really stands out is that the game is developed by a single developer who is incredibly dedicated: there are frequent updates, the community feedback is truly being listened to, and there are even in-game events, like the Halloween event for example – something you rarely see nowadays. I’ve been playing the game daily for about 7 days now, at least 6 hours a day, which already says a lot about the long-term motivation. Yes, the game is grind-heavy, and yes, the early game is quite challenging – but that’s exactly what makes the later progress so satisfying once you’ve unlocked and earned important upgrades. I genuinely love this game and can absolutely recommend it. I really hope it gains more visibility, because I’d love to see a larger player base for more cooperative games in the future. edit: Unfortunately, the game is being updated in a way that favors advanced players. Since it is already quite difficult for beginners, the direction it is currently taking is not something I would recommend. In the community Discord, many advanced players who have already grinded everything say the game has become too easy for them. Instead of giving those players new incentives or harder content, things are being nerfed in ways that also make the game more difficult for beginners. Sadly, this is not a direction I support, and in my opinion, it is a bad direction for the game to develop in.
Great game, lots of fun to play in a group. Builder can be upgraded with items to help with your tower strategy and towers gain xp by playing many games to upgrade stats. Game is getting updates and more content. On the discord you can give feedback and ideas to help improve the game for everyone.
great in depth strategic TD that makes you actually think of what kind and where to put certain towers instead of just buy strongest one and buy multiple of them and thats it. Have to actually make a proper comp of towers that synergize with each other that make each other stronger or can all tailor around one main dps tower with support towers or debuff or cc towers. Plus between round perma gear to purchase for perma progression. currently no endless mode but has been confirmed that it will be coming but the difficultys are actually noticiable from each other and provide a actual challenge. Also there is tower itemizasion. Is also co op with up to 6 player and has leader boards for those that are competative! WOULD 10/10 highly recommend!
