Cons:

Probably a bitcoin miner (CPU usage goes BRRRRRRR)
No minimap nor indication how to find destination
Following a YT guide, you finish in 4 min
ZERO OPTIONS (Audio, video, keybinds)
Horrendous audio, gameplay and lore
Pros:

You learn to appreciate even mediocre games
You can exercise using the steam refund system
You learn to trust when there's many bad reviews
Descriptive:

Gameplay: Walking simulator, literally the only thing you do
Controls: WASD, Shift for sprint, ENTER to skip lore, X to read lore, ESC to quit. That's the full spectrum of keys and actions in this "game"
Mechanics: Zero logic nor hints to reach objectives, lore is useless and meaningless. Monster mechanics seem timed, so you lose the game within a certain gameplay timeframe, meaning you must keep re-trying and memorize your path to victory
Horror: Game is not scary, there's just horrible audio after horrible audio with no sense of incoming doom since weird audio is playing all the time and you must face the monster to make it go away...
Verdict: 0/10 - This is NOT a game. This is a "follow a video on youtube to finish in 4 minutes while mining someone bitcoin" crap app. Absolutely NOT worth your time. If mine (And any other) review was helpful and informative, please mark it as helpful. We should have good reviews in the store page, not jokes/"heartfelt" copypastas. Thank you!
Звуковые эффекты и атмосфера игры весьма впечатляют, за свою цену топ
I wont say much about the game, just RUN AWAY from this!!!
I have tried to think of anything positive to post about this game, if you can even call it one, and I simply can't. The lack of settings, lack of mechanics, lack luster lore, ear splitting audio, and mind numbing searching for lamp posts left me with wanting nothing more but a refund.
"Gevaudan" is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. It's important to also note the "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. This seems more like a school project, but it's being sold for money. All you do is run around an asset flipped forest avoiding a badly done asset flipped AI, trying to reach an asset flipped lamppost. That's it. That's all there is to it. Microids wants you to pay them money for this. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's an ugly screen filter meant to make the game look even more obsolete... like the game looks bad enough already, but they actually went out of their way to make it look worse. There's no way to turn this off. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. In fact the game is so badly put together the "developer" couldn't even work out how to add any kind of menu. Pressing 'esc' (which you will very quickly do when you see how bad this is) quits you out of the game, no warnings. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 7 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Gevaudan is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
Nettes kleines Horrorgame :-)
🎮 In-Depth Review of Gevaudan – Developed by Nicolas Bernard

Overall Rating: 8.5/10 Genre: Horror / Suspense / Survival Platform: PC Developer: Nicolas Bernard Language: French (original), with English options Average Playtime: 30–60 minutes 🌕 Premise & Atmosphere Inspired by real historical events — the terrifying legend of the Beast of Gévaudan that haunted 18th-century France — Gevaudan immerses the player in a dark, suffocating atmosphere. The rural setting, thick fog, and eerie darkness contribute to a constant feeling of fear and vulnerability. The historical recreation is simple but effective. Nicolas Bernard smartly uses visual limitations to enhance immersion with light, shadow, and highly effective sound design. The low-poly art style doesn’t hinder the experience — in fact, it creates a nightmarish tone that fits the game perfectly. 🧠 Gameplay Gevaudan’s gameplay is intentionally minimalist. The player explores a dense, dangerous forest, trying to escape (or survive) an encounter with the legendary beast. There are no powerful weapons, no superhuman abilities — just instinct and caution. Vulnerability is a core mechanic. The game relies heavily on tension, with few cheap jumpscares and a stronger focus on psychological horror. The creature rarely appears, but its presence is always felt — distant howls, subtle movements, and glimpses in the shadows keep you on edge throughout. Controls are simple and intuitive, letting the player focus on the experience without technical distractions. There’s a good balance between exploration and scripted events, which keeps the pacing tight even during short play sessions. 🔊 Sound & Audio Design One of Gevaudan’s strongest elements is its sound design. Ambient noises are organic, oppressive, and crucial to the overall atmosphere. Snapping branches, whispering wind, and sudden silences create mounting anxiety. There’s almost no background music, which is a smart choice. Silence becomes a narrative tool as powerful as any score — and Bernard uses this to full effect. 🎨 Art Direction While the game uses a low-fidelity visual style, its art direction makes up for it in spades. Cold colors, strategic lighting, and clever use of fog and visual distortion create a world that is both beautiful and terrifying. Don’t expect hyper-realistic environments, but rather visuals that evoke feeling — which is far more important in a psychological horror experience. 🐺 The Creature The "Beast" is one of the game’s best-executed elements. It doesn’t appear frequently, which builds mystique and unpredictability. When it finally does show up, the impact is unforgettable. Its design is grotesque and animalistic, blending wolf and demonic features — a fitting tribute to the original legend. There is no direct combat with the creature, which makes it even scarier. The player can only run, hide, and hope not to be seen. This feeling of helplessness is intentional and key to the game's power. 🧩 Narrative The story is told subtly — through the environment, small texts, and visual clues. There are no long cutscenes or hand-holding. This rewards players who are curious and observant, and encourages personal interpretation by the end. The tone is tragic and melancholic, like an old legend whispered around a fire. The game doesn’t hand out easy answers, which may frustrate some, but for fans of suggestive, atmospheric storytelling, it’s deeply satisfying. ✅ Highlights Extremely immersive and tense atmosphere Top-tier sound design Subtle and engaging narrative Unique aesthetic that enhances psychological horror Excellent use of the Beast of Gévaudan legend Short but emotionally impactful experience ❗ Minor Drawbacks Lack of subtitle options may limit accessibility Difficulty may frustrate less experienced players Low replay value (short, linear experience) No tutorials or clear guidance may cause early confusion 🎯 Conclusion Gevaudan is a rare indie horror gem: short, intense, and unforgettable. Nicolas Bernard demonstrates remarkable skill in creating an atmospheric experience that doesn’t rely on hyper-realistic visuals or cheap scares. It’s a game that respects the player’s intelligence, uses silence as a weapon, and turns a forgotten legend into a visceral, emotional experience. Highly recommended for fans of psychological horror, narrative-driven survival games, or those looking for something truly unique. If you enjoy games like The Rake, Mundaun, or The Beast Inside, you’ll likely appreciate Gevaudan deeply.
