Es bueno
its a good game, but youll get bored of it once you pass the first two levels.
Hero's Journey is a 2D platformer that has an unenthusiastic main character as its main plot point. It's standard, uninspired 2D platformer fare gameplay-wise, but the story doesn't give you anything either. Not only is the story essentially "the hero isn't very enthusiastic", level design is poor. Pillars that look like they should obstruct your way actually do not, which can be confusing. And the design itself is just uninspired. Gameplay is standard platformer fare. Nothing about this game sings individuality, rather dull mundanity that the developer has seemingly mistook for cleverness. Boring levels, boring story, boring gameplay. Nothing is unique. I have the strange feeling I've done this all before, and that's probably because I have, because there are hundreds of games like this on Steam. It's one of the most replicated genres in video game history. I don't hate the game. There was nothing technically broken, nor nothing technically terrible. But it just wasn't worth the minute amount of time I spent playing.
Before I played Hero's Journey, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Hero's Journey is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a particularly badly made platformer that seems to have been dumped on Steam just to prove that it's possible for someone to make a 2D retro pixel platformer using the 2D platformer code from the GameMaker Studio construction kit. We already know that... oh wait, this is on Steam just so the developer can pat themselves on the back, and has nothing to do with the interests of gamers on the platform. Creating more pollution, another unwanted and godawfully bad GameMaker Studio game. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. The developer seemed unaware that most gamers use widescreen monitors, despite developing this, apparently, on a widescreen monitor. We're left to wonder if they made the game bad on purpose, or if it was just incompetence... and really, it doesn't matter, all that matters is this is awful. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
