Great art style, fantastic, lovecraft-themed story and an amazing soundtrack. Everything you could wish for in a game like this.
So far so good. Normaly I do not like visual novels as games, but this sems to be interesting, starting with a strage dream of a struggeling girl. And I love the smal lovecraftian details and symbols we can also see in the best H.P inspired game "dark corners of the erath". The animation is also good, so I can recomend this still unseen gem. But beware, it is a visual novel! It might not be for everyone.
fine
Awesome visual novel that I wish had more reviews so it'd be seen by more people easily. You can tell this translation was a little rushed with all of the typos and some visual bugs when text extends to a second box, but overall the conversations and explanations flowed very well. I noticed some people having a hard time following some dialogue due to "bad translation," I never had this issue with having to reread anything to make sense of it (unless I was distracted and not thoughtfully reading at that moment.) The characters are incredibly well written, a bit relatable and their motivations make sense once all is said and done. The few gameplay moments that you get didn't feel out of place for being a very focused on story based game, and I wish they had expanded a little bit more with it (like inspecting someone as you talk to them at the "correct time," or the sanity meter characters have on the Relationships screen.) You can tell the writer(s?) also had a great time being able to fill the in game forum up with random world knowledge and conversations that felt pretty realistic, albeit it felt more like mid 2000s forum posts. If you enjoy visual novels, especially with a spiritual/sci-fi spin, definitely give this game a try!
I enjoy the stories so far (i am in chapter 4). I also enjoy the artwork of the scenes, such as the design of the buildings, and the colours. I enjoy the characters overall in terms of the curious situations that put them together however they remain relatively 2 dimensional and mostly just tools to drive the story. Which is fine by me in a story / game like this. But it certainly would be a bonus if the characters felt more than the few static poses used to express them. I see the potential for a great series that I would likely follow. The stories are elaborated well by interesting pseudo history (or at least I hope its all invented) and creates its own unique world with Lovecraftian references. However, after Chapter 1, I found the stories a little over-written. It tired me to read through so much dialogue in one scene. The first chapter was a good length for me. It kept me interested and I was satisfied with the pacing and the ending. After this though, I found myself skipping whole scenes and I feel bad about that because I probably missed some great writing but will likely never go back to find out. I think it would be better to edit the scenes down, so I don't want to skip anything. If an update is made that includes an edit, I will make an effort to read the chapters in their entirety. As per other reviews, yes, I suspect the English translation missed some logic here and there. But it didn't stop me from continuing the stories.
A lovecraftian visual novel whose opening chapters are stronger than the later ones, but worth it despite some rough translations into English. Though the visual aesthetic looks 'anime' but this is not an anime game, the story is serious and dark. They contain cuteness to one chapter out of six, and even then it doesn't go too far. The gameplay portions get in the way occasionally due to the rough translations, most of it you can figure out on your own but sometimes it's got the Ace Attorney problem where you don't know what it actually wants from you. There's guides easily available if you need them, you're basically here just to follow the story. Sort of a 6-7/10 style recommendation, play it if you like both genres.
Great game so far. A lot words but interesting story and cool artdesign. Not the typical VN
While i'm recommending it, i'd rather choose "neutral" option if we had one on steam. This game is quite interesting. Basically you're solving Cthulhu-esque problems with the help of your friends. While you dig books and act like the brain of the team, your friends help you in their own special ways. Story and setting was quite interesting. I'd say the first 2 stories were the best one. 3rd story was just a chinese version of the story of The Shadow over Innsmouth by Lovercraft. I do think they incorperated it quite good but if you could still guess what was going on if you read the story. I can't say i liked the 4th story and onward. Especially ending, while smart, left me unsatisfied. Was it bad? No, it was good. But was it as good as it could be? Nah. There two problems i'd say this game had so far which made it look bad. First problem with this game is EN translation. There are lots of typos and sometimes i hardly understand what they were trying to say in conversations. I don't know why they didn't reread what they wrote or how they didn't fix this typos. While they're not game breakingly bad, it's still questionable how they did not fix it until now. Like seriously, how hard is it? Did no one reported the issue or did the developer not care? It's bad for their reputation if they didn't care enough to go back and fix them. At least for me. Second problem i'm having with it is that sometimes clues you have to choose during investigation to solve the case are not quite clear or doesn't make sense. Thankfully they give you 3 chances to find the right answer but even then, there were few times where i felt like i found the answer by pure luck. Other than this two annoying issues, game is quite good. Story and cases are quite interesting. Some characters are quite annoying but overall enjoyable. I'm sure people who love Lovecraftian stories will enjoy it even with the issues i mentioned.
I don't know why but it just doen't click with me. Good characters, nice visals but there was something in the dialog that turn me off each time I try to play the game. And to be honest, for me, it wasboring as f... After finishing chapter one I read the revievs that that was one of the best chapters. Dear Lord... Life is just to short to play mid games. Go play Ace Attorney or Ghost Trick or PARANORMASIGHT.
