Hermes: The Fury of Megaera
Collectible game from 2023. An ancient rivalry is rekindled. Meet Megaera, a vengeful being with a dark past. Banished and feared, she found solace in her lair, surrounded by suffering and terror. Driven by resentment and lust for power, she has set her sights on Aphrodite, the embodiment of beauty and seduction. [Publisher] It's all about collecting, building, and clearing paths. The main focus is on constructing production facilities to manufacture the materials you need. Occasionally, you'll also have to demolish buildings to erect others that are more essential. There are only a few, but they produce the important items you need to clear your path and build many other things. A very simple yet varied gameplay concept. A "click management game" whose individual levels are very quick and not very challenging. The story and its execution constantly add to the fun. A tip for genre fans, and with 9.5 hours of stress-free gameplay, I highly recommend it.
Hermes: The Fury of Megaera
Hermes: The Fury of Megaera is a time management game developed by Game Mixer and published by Alawar Entertainment. It is the fifth installment in the Hermes series. As usual, you take on the role of Hermes, and you learn that Megaera, an evil deity, has kidnapped Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, and turned her into a statue. Apparently, Megaera wants revenge for some past wrongdoing, and she takes her anger out on Aphrodite. Aphrodite has been taken to Megaera's lair, and it's up to Hermes to rescue her. Hermes must rescue Aphrodite quickly, as the land of the living is being adversely affected, such as droughts and flooding. I'll end my story synopsis here to avoid spoilers and all that. As for the gameplay, Hermes: The Fury of Megaera has pretty much similar gameplay as in the previous games. As usual, you can choose from among three difficulty levels: relaxed, normal, or expert. (For purposes of this review, I chose to play on normal mode.) There are a total of 50 story levels, with an additional 15 bonus levels that are unlocked once you complete the main story. In each level, you're given a number of tasks to complete, which can range from restoring the gods' altars to defeating various monsters. You can construct buildings that produce resources, such as food and gold. Bonuses, such as automatic resource building upgrades, are available in some levels. Depending on how quickly you complete each level, you can earn up to 3 stars. Also, you can earn a certain amount of gods' power. Gods' power can be used in Aphrodite's city, where you can construct buildings that will help you to complete levels more efficiently. For example, you can construct a temple that makes Hermes' workers run faster. As this is a collector's edition, there are additional bonuses, like a strategy guide and wallpapers. In addition, there are the usual Steam/in-game achievements. Now that I've gone over the story and gameplay, I'll move onto my critique. Ever since I played the first game in the Hermes series, I've enjoyed following Hermes on his adventures, interacting with the Greek gods, otherworldly creatures, and human mortals. Hermes: The Fury of Megaera continues that fun adventure with a new villain. I enjoyed the story premise although I felt that the beginning narration was a bit on the short side. Although I got the basic idea that Megaera was out for revenge for being banished, I never got any more exposition about her. Even when
Hermes triumphs and imprisons Megaera, there's no story where Megaera feels remorse or anything. She's simply locked away
. This story idea is fine although I wish there had been a bit more of an expansion on it. Also, I noticed a few weird typos in the narration (I played the English version) although the story itself is understandable. As for the gameplay, I enjoyed it as usual. I found the levels to be fun and doable, for the most part. There were a couple of levels where I found it challenging to earn 3 stars, and even if I followed the guide, it wasn't exactly accurate. However, after tweaking my gameplay strategy and such, I had no problems getting 3 stars, which I did for all of the levels. There are a few hidden objects in most of the levels, most of which supply Hermes with additional resources. However, the guide doesn't note where these objects are, so you have to look carefully. If you don't get all of the objects after completing a level, you have no choice but to replay the entire level and make sure to get all of the items. I did find this aspect a bit annoying, as I would have preferred to simply go back to a level, click on the items that I missed, and then go back to the map screen. However, I liked the feature of Aphrodite's city, where I could construct buildings that would help me complete levels more efficiently. Although the levels can certainly be completed without these buildings, they do help quite a bit. I had no technical issues, and I was able to obtain all of the achievements without any problems. Regarding the art, it's in the style that's common in Alawar's time management games. The cartoony style returns, with the use of beautiful bright colors. The sprites are well done, and the backgrounds especially represent the ancient Greek period well. In regards to the music, the tracks are the same. In fact, I believe there's only one track, so it can be a bit boring to listen to the same one. Although the track fits well with the ancient Greek theme, I wish that there were new tracks to add a bit of variety. Overall, would I recommend Hermes: The Fury of Megaera? If you enjoy time management games and especially the ones by Alawar Games, then this is worth taking a look. It has been a while since the developer released a Hermes game, but I feel like the wait was worth it. For the asking price, it's a good value, as it took me around 9.5 hours to complete the game. That includes getting all of the achievements and completing all of the levels. However, you can always wait to get it on sale, and it's in a couple of Steam bundles. ^^
Flying free and writing reviews solely for The Introverted Gamer.
Sehr gut! Fazit: kaufen, kaufen, kaufen! :-)
Installment #5 in a series about the Greek mythological figures, of which demigod Hermes is front and center. This is resource management you can play timed or untimed and it's ancient Greek-themed thru-out. Graphics are OK, a bit cartoonish but each level so far is well-planned so that you're kept focused and busy. Earliest levels are around 3-3.5 minutes and there are "hidden" objects to find, just like in prev. Hermes, but may not always be the same thing you're used to seeing. And, you can't go back into the level you missed the object in and just pick it up; you have to replay it. If you enjoyed the previous Hermes, you'll probably have zero problems with this one. It's comfortably familiar, with a few new elements to keep it fresh.

Costruisci templi e santuari pe ottenere grandi benedizioni dagli Dei dell’Olimpo.
another great game from these game creaters....very happy with the cute story and i look forward to more awesome games like this to hopefully come from them...great work guys/girls
Fun as always. I also like that there are always a few levels you have to play a couple times over to figure out how to beat it. Gives space for strategy and thinking, so it's not just a totally mindless game :)
Faccio spesso questo tipo di giochi. Si potrebbe migliorare usando il multiclic. Comunque carino
