Dreadful wind and rain

This was really quite good. Her Story is non-linear storytelling done right. The act of uncovering what really happened is a naturally interesting goal, but what separates this game from many its many gimmicky peers across mediums is that the core narrative is actually intriguing. The main character is quite cleverly written with many small subtleties giving insight into her personality, but what truly elevates her is the fantastic performance by Viva Seibert. She packs just the right amount of detail into every scene and makes it so that even if you've already seen everything else you'll still get something out of continuing to watch. Admittedly, the gameplay is quite primitive and may not appeal to everyone, but its simplicity is partly what makes it so ingenious. The game lets you explore whatever you're the most curious about whenever you want to, and you are seamlessly segued into enough different threads that you'll always have something gripping enough to keep you moving forward until the game is done. My only criticism is that once you've seen most of the core story it can feel kind of arbitrary finding any last few clips. I wouldn't shy away from using a guide when you get far enough into the game.

its a fun story telling based game where you need to use strategy and smarts to figure it out. piece by piece, word by word. FUN!

I think this game is just fine, but really overrated and a bit too expensive for such a short experience. I could refund the game since I finished it in under 2 hours if I wanted to. Maybe I'm missing something, but is uncovering new information really just slamming random words into the search query? Sometimes you find new names or locations you can search, but majority of your queries are just random stuff. I was able to uncover the story with only around half the discovered clips. Having the story told in such a non-linear way means reveals are just kind of an "Oh, I get it." instead of being conveyed in some dramatic fashion. It was fun to have Word open on my other monitor and record a timeline as well as info for each person, though. The most exciting part of the game was seeing your characters reflection in the monitor, which was really creeping me out. It seemed to ramp up the amount of opportunities to see your reflection the farther you get into the game which was pretty cool. The story is cool but a bit far fetched, as well as the computer terminal just making no sense at all. Having to search up individual words sourced from the transcript of videos that could be as short as 7 seconds is just really stupid. I get the game wouldn't work without that, but it's really funny to imagine this system being a real thing. The context is you're in "guest" mode or something so you can't see all the clips, even though you can just in this super awkward fashion. Also another nitpick is I think the woman's acting wasn't that great, but whatever. Honestly not a bad game, but I can't really recommend it.
