Ring of Fire: Prologue is the first case in a search-based detective noir puzzler with a mature narrative set in the hyper-stylized streets of New London. Scour police records. Antagonize your suspects. Comb through a disturbing crime scene. You'll stop at nothing to expose the truth.

While this game is just a prototype/demo/prologue, it held it's ground very well as it made me expect and want more. So far, the story isn't too unique/niche or cliche, putting it at a good place to please a large audience. In terms of mechanics it's simple and user friendly, UI included. In terms of content, I like that you have to write things down, it's unique, at least to me it is. Also, there's a nice balance of giving you what you need and having to figure things out yourself. The only issue I had was that unless you figure something out, you're stuck in the apartment thinking with not much exploring available (again it's just a demo). In terms of visuals, if you're into the simplistic, easy on the eyes style, you'll love this. It's described as neo-noir and fittingly so, personally I really like the palette. tldr: It's simple, beautiful, and though-provoking. It's a free prologue, just play it and see what you think of it yourself.
This demo was too short, ignore my gameplay time I got busy somewhere else, resting my game in background. Overall it is good detective game with seemingly a good well thought story, graphics. Just requires the voice narration and a better hint system.
Ateş Çemberi: Prologue, New London'ın aşırı stilize edilmiş sokaklarında geçen, olgun bir anlatıma sahip, arama tabanlı bir dedektif noir bilinmezinin ilk vakasıdır. Polis kayıtlarını araştırın. Şüphelilerinizi düşmanlaştırın. Rahatsız edici bir suç mahallini tarayın. Gerçeği ortaya çıkarmak için hiçbir şeyden vazgeçmeyeceksin.
Recommended if you get trapped in a dark room for 20 minutes with nothing but a PC with this installed.
A good mystery solving mechanic with an intriguing setting
I was disappointed by this prologue. It's difficult to say anything concrete about the story so far, however, I found the murder mystery pretty easy to figure out, the writing of the partner character was downright annoying, and the main character's remarks about "looking back on it" were eye-rolling. While the graphics are simple and stylish, I found the movement of the models in the tutorial to be jarring. That might be due to my laptop's performance, but then I'd appreciate an opportunity to tweak the settings. The movement of the camera in the gameplay is weird, I would've preferred if it was stationary. As some other reviews mentioned, the ambiance is sort of oppressive as well. The biggest problem I had was with the dialog boxes. Why would they be presented as a chat, I have no idea, I think it's a real miss; especially since we've seen normal dialogue boxes in the tutorial. Besides, the new dialogue would normally require a mouse click to appear, and then suddenly three or four "messages" would pop up by themselves in quick succession. The text representing mc's thoughts and notes on the environment is fine, but the font could be bigger. Also, when using the database, the process of typing is slow and you'd get these remarks that "this address does not exist", or you'd be intercut by your partner in an annoying fashion in the tutorial, when you haven't finished typing in the words yet. The requirement to make your own notes while playing is a nice touch, but I hope the information you write down will be used in different ways rather than just typing it into the database search to find an address. In conclusion, I think the game has potential. Some problems like music will surely be resolved once it has a settings menu, and the only thing that really needs working on is the speed and intercutting of dialog or remarks, as well as enlarging the font. Everything else I am prepared to chuck up to my own preferences.
Quick impression: When I imagine myself as a detective…
I had a great time with this prologue and can’t wait to see the full version and solve this case. The art direction is interesting, with a nice color palette. The tone, the atmosphere, the overall flavor of the game is promising in the noir-detective style, with good stylization and psychological characterization of the characters that grab attention and make you want to stick around. The game mechanics are intriguing, and the “dialogue box” aspect, where you have to write/read, is interesting. I’m curious to see how it will be developed in the future. The only downside is that we’re forced to take notes “on the side” since there’s currently no way to record information in an in-game notebook. But since this is a demo/prototype/prologue, maybe this will be added in future developments as an extra feature that would be really useful throughout the game? It’s promising, and it seems like there are already some good ingredients in place to keep you hooked. I’m excited to see future developments/improvements!
