About
Hello Operator is a narrative puzzle game where you play as Blissville’s one and only switchboard operator. In this steampunk-inspired town, every call runs through you—and every connection matters. Use your knowledge of the townsfolk, recorded in your trusty journal, and what you overhear while listening in on calls, to decide how to route conversations. Your choices shape the story, revealing secrets, relationships, and the hidden mysteries behind Blissville’s genteel facade.
Listen closely. Pay attention. The town’s fate may rest in your hands.
A point-and-click puzzle adventure where the smallest choices can carry the heaviest consequences.

Game is not playable, and even if it was, it would still have a lot of problems. - Bad font - The UI is not at all well thought out. There's a hotel bell to allow a call through and a red knob on your desk (not connected to anything) that "clears" the board (except it doesn't really). There are literally red and blue knobs on one of the monitors that do nothing. Why wouldn't you just have those be the call-on call-off inputs? Or anything other than a hotel bell and a red knob sitting on your wooden desk. - The switchboard lights make no sense. I hit the bell. A light goes up. I connect it. Call ends. I hit the bell. New light goes up... also the first light goes up now... - The toggles are awful and totally unnecessary. You're connecting one call at a time. A toggle for incoming and a toggle for outgoing would've been fine. There's no reason to have sixty toggles and sixty of whatever those yellow things are, 120 bits of clutter total that add nothing. - No zoom/text/UI enlarge. UI is way too small, and there's so much unused screen real estate. - Journal links for random names are broken and set off in white space way on the right side of the page. - If you leave a toggle on and try to toggle it off and on, it resets the link. - There's no clear way to remove a wire, and it's unclear why multiple wires can even appear considering that only one call at a time can be routed and you listen to all of them all the way through. - The wire physics... the wires have corners. You drag the wire to put it into a slot and it forms a corner from where you dragged it. FR dude? It's the central game mechanic. - Literally the first call, the text goes outside the text box lol. Also the second one. And the third one. - It's not at all clear what "skip" means because calls will just keep repeating until you "finish" them. - The calls only show first names when you're eavesdropping. - The journal is poorly written. There's a profile with appearance information, and then below it the description repeats the same information. Also, it's weird that a switchboard operator has notes on physical appearance and sketches of people's faces. Just a mess. The story didn't seem like it was going to be all that thrilling either. With zero ramp up, your first call is a spooky nightmare and someone in hysterics asking to be connected to anyone. Apparently it was also late at night, but how are you supposed to know that? There's no clock. If the game crosses my path again and the developer has addressed any of these, I'll give it another shot, but that seems unlikely given their non-response to the only two posts on the discussion board.
