About
Hellish Quart is a local-only (two players play on one PC, not online), physics-based sword fighting game. Set in 17th century Poland, it features a cinematic story and the most iconic sword fighter archetypes of this period.
With motion-captured fencing techniques and four gamepad buttons representing four attack angles, you'll need to use timing, technique, and speed to defeat your opponents. Choose from a variety of warriors and take part in cinematic story mode, arcade mode, safe sparring, quick fights, survival mode with online leaderboards, or local multiplayer. If you want to hone your sword fighting skills, you can spar with wooden weapons or train in modern HEMA gear. And for the ultimate experience, Hellish Quart also offers an optional VR mode.
Please note that the game is still in development and only supports local multiplayer (two players play on one PC, not online).
physical sword fighting using Active Ragdolls

realistic historical fencing techniques
optional VR mode
Hellish Quart utilizes active ragdolls and real-time physics to get you the ultimate fencing experience. You can attack from four different angles using the four gamepad buttons. Different button combinations enable special attacks and combos. When you are not attacking, your character automatically assumes a defensive stance, blocking your opponent's attacks using the autoguard feature. Proper timing, technique, speed, measure, and wits are all crucial to winning, just like in real-world fencing.
The game is set in the historical 17th-century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the character models are based on 3D-scanned, reconstructed clothes from that period. The single-player campaign, once completed, will be firmly rooted in the reality of life in the region. You will duel against Zaporozhian Cossacks, Polish Hussars, Tatars, Turkish Janissaries, Swedish Reiters, French Musketeers, and more.

its a game that could be sensational but there are a few things holding it back (and not cause its pre alpha). the economy in this is absolutely pants on head retarded. you will win between 1 and 100 ducats if you are REALLY lucky (mostly you will win 5-10) but if you lose you will lose 70 or more ducats. i have a 80% win rate and i lose about 400 ducats every session. please fix it. the boss is wearing body armor and apparently wielding one of those ring wraith swords that kills you by touching you, and you have to beat him 4 times he only has to beat you twice. besides that i would say this is a good game but it needs some minor tweaks to fix major problems. looking forward to seeing it finished
Did you grow up playing Bushido Blade? This game scratches that itch. Very fun to play solo or with a friend, hope the devs keep on improving it.
Sword fighting so accurate that Shadiversity would cry against it, because it follows HEMA rules, while making AI slop art.
this ♥♥♥♥ is hot ass
Easily the best fencing game I've played. Really fun, very much worth the money.
Great game, great fencing game. Alittle janky-ish. Plenty of potential not utilized. This game could be so much more, and yet, I find myself bored after the short campaign and the arcade. I don't recommend the game because it doesn't feel complete, but the combat is pretty good. Buy it if you just want to fence, buy it during a sale like I did and try it out. But me personally? It's somewhat forgettable. I might come back in the future and see what it become.
on a cheap deal it would good but full price hell no. This game lack in content its not that great of a game
nice fighting game but for the love of god why is samuel in arcade such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass fight man its not even physics based with his randomness and adn weird hitboxes, story is meh and unfair at times so dont bother playing untill devs decide to give some fairness into it overall 1v1 duels i really enjoy and devs did good work on representing hema as it is and as accuratly as possible
Peak
This is the only video game I have ever encountered that manages to capture any of the dynamics of sword fighting. If you've studied historical swordsmanship and want a game that has any relation to that experience, this is worth playing, despite it's pre-Alpha state. Excellent music, good characters and range of styles. I'd recommend damage at x1.2-1.3 if you want fully reallistic cutting ability, but the game does allow you to fine tune that and the timing also, which are excellent features that I commend the developr for including. One of very games I've enjoyed without modding. It's enjoyable enough that even if (Gods forbid!) the developer never finished it, I would in no way regret having bought it. It plays better for me in Xubuntu 24 than in Windows 11, which is a welcome novelty. It also plays smoothly on a discount notebook with no VRAM, whose only strength aside from being Lenovo is plentiful (40GB) RAM, so you definetely don't need anything high end to enjoy it.
