Hell Maiden picks up from the ending of the original Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
Dante is now inexplicably back in Hell after having reached Paradiso — and she's lost all her memories to boot! I initially wrote this game off as just another "vampire survivors clone".... And its still exactly that, HOWEVER This game really went above and beyond my expectations, this game oozes character and charm with enjoyable characters, extremely solid voice acting, beautifully animated skill animations and more At its core gameplay, its the same thing ive seen many many times, especially with certain enemies, weapons, "events", pickups ect. If youve played similar roguelites to this, or even just VS itself you know what youre in for. The Card system is neat and requires some amount of thinking and choices but in my opinion in its current state, its really not enough to separate it from the others... This isnt exactly a bad thing though, it allows players to easily familiarize themselves with the game and craft strong builds to get them through. The real selling point (at least in my opinion) is the characters and story. Its a love crafted retelling of Dante's Inferno and has alot of little references throughout. The interactions between characters are an absolute treat combined with the amazing voice acting and sound quality. Even if theres not alot of story in the game in its current state, it still managed to draw me in and get emotional reactions like laughing or melancholy out of me. This combined with the beautiful skill animations for each character had me wanting to dive in more and more to unlock characters, read their interactions with each other, and experience each of their skill animations. My only gripes with the game are with the actual gameplay itself.. I understand the game is fairly early access and im grateful to experience what the devs have created, but in its current state it feels a bit barebones and unpolished. Plenty of cards need balancing adjustments, and while i understand that a game like this needs a little bit of card bloat, in its current state there's not enough to really have "build diversity" which can lead to runs feeling samey and burnout happening quicker. Im sure alot of things will get better as the game gets more fleshed out, but as a current player of the game its something worth noting. I would also love to see some type of weapon combining like in Vampire Survivors, Holocure, Ball x Pit, ect, i feel as though it pushes players to experiment and build around things more while also pushing a higher late game power fantasy that this genre does well If by some miracle a dev manages to read this, i want to extend a personal thank you for the experience you managed to make and continue to work on. I wish you all nothing but the best and i truly pray for the day that this game gets finished and is a complete experience. i would unironically put this game up there with other big name roguelite titles like Hades.

I just 100% the game (which is still in early access btw) Although I'm not overly familiar with Vampire Survivors clones, I would say that this is a pretty good game, with smooth controls and engaging gameplay, which sin't ahrd but does have a good amount of room where the player can improve their skills and figure out which weapon and upgrade combinations are the best to beat the levels and complete every challenge, or just have fun with various possibilities: depending on your weapon and mod card combinations, you can make Dante practically invincible as she'll shred enemies and bosses before they'll get a chance to hurt you or to even reach you at all, which is really satisfying to pull off. Horace's starting weapon is probably the best in the whole game as it's compatible with ever mod card and grows exponentially pwoerful the more you increase its projectile count and attack size, which can make you hit anything in the screen, and her blessing grants you around 30 seconds of invulnerability, allowing you to completely cheese the bosses' final phases, but this might get changed in later updates. The graphics are good, and even on a poor PC such as my current laptop it will run fine, though at times the sheer number of objects on the screen will cause the game to slow down and to generally make visibility a lot harder, making it difficult to make out enemy projectiles or even to distinguish them from your own ones at times, which can be frustrating when it happens but it's fortunately not something game-ruining and you'll manage by To 100% the game there's certainly an RNG element when it comes to certain more difficult achievements to get (especially the one where you have to have your entire hand full of level 3 mod cards) but permanent upgrades (such as the number of wepon, mod card and skill rerolls available) and knowledge on your arsenal and upgrades does make them more easier to get. I am also a massive fan of the original Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, and while this game does certainly take liberties with the direction of its characters, the art direction is beatiful and does interpret the source material's descriptions in a new yet stunning way, not to mention there's ton of little details that fans of Dante Alighieri and more will appreciate. I am also curious to see where the story will go, and what new levels and mechanics the developers will add in the future to expand the game!
Never been a fan of these kinds of games, bullet heaven. BUT when I saw it was from the guys behind 2 of the most amazing art driven and story telling games I've played in a long while, I had to buy it. And man, I am looking forward to the full release.
Is this a Limbus Company spin off ? I know have 2 games based on the Divine Comedy with Mili as a singer. Weird it happened twice. Jokes aside, this game amazing production value. The retro style anime opening and menu fit some well it s crazy. Main story line is fully voice and you are telling me I paid less than 10e for this ? Woah. Sure there is only 2 circle openned so far but with this quality, take your time but it looks like it will be one hell of a ride.
