thought it was King of Fighters 13, but it's using playing cards.... at least it's got the triangle system
Haxity is a fantastic game merging rougelike deckbuilder drafting and fighting game combat, focusing primarily on PvP. The gameplay is fleshed out, and the better player almost always wins. In fact, I received two copies of the game for free as prizes for competing in Early Access raffle events (winning matches giving you substantially increased odds, obviously). Unfortunately, reaching the point where the game feels more skill-based than luck-based will take a while. The game is not forgiving in bringing its new players up to that level, since the Tutorial and Campaign are only in their infancy in Early Access. That's why I wrote a Tutorial guide to help smooth the learning process. Hopefully, more will come if all goes well.
I really really don't get why this game gets mixed reviews. It is a really awesome game! I will be putting a lot of hours in this one. Anyone who likes these kind of strategy deck building games should give this one a try. It simply is a very good game.
just use ranged attacks and win all the time
The game is well crafted and is quite enjoyable to look at but of course your not here to stare at the main menu, you wanna know how it works and does the gameplay feel fluid, fun, and bottom line is it worth your hard earned cash? Well the combat is unique enough that it doesn't feel like a complete copy and paste of other PvP deck builders and instead felt like it had its own spot on the long flooded list of deck builders that have been filling the market. The player base did seem like where the game might begin to struggle as I don't know if they have a large recurring amount of people continuing to play it. But if you don't wanna play against your fellow humans you could hop into a solo mode that plays against AI. The solo play experience can be used to get you used to playing before you started battling it out with others online also if you wanna go that route, however I wouldn't call it a campaign as it's more just letting you get a grasp of how it plays as you move from battle to battle in this mode. The combat is a rock-paper-scissors style (the attacks aren't actually called rock paper scissors) where you play them in a few slots then use hacks to alter where they match up with the opponent side so if you have a paper you can switch it from going against a scissor to going against a rock however they might have a hack (ability that can alter the playing field or card) to switch it right back or you can use a hack to cancel them out so then there hack isn't able to counter you and many other options. The combat can feel somewhat RNG but you just need to think multiple steps ahead and instead of always going for the hit sometimes force the push and move to the next turn. Now with all that being said I haven't played in a little bit and there where talks of a major update that was going to add a lot more and change some key things of how the game is played which I don't know if it ever did come out and how it altered the game, that's why I'm suggesting you watch some recent gameplay footage before purchasing so you know what your getting and you don't go into it blind and disappointed thinking its something its not.
Although the game is in Early Access it's reasonably polished and has a really cool atmosphere about it already. It's a little short of content right now, having only three fighters, but there is more than enough to get your teeth into given the relatively low cost, and apparently lots more fighters on the way. The game itself is a really cool concept and well done. Deck building is interesting, playing card combos feels cool and hacking adds a huge amount of depth and counter-play. Really excited for the future of the game.
