Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
People who follow my reviews know that when I don't do a video review of a game, it's probably pretty awful. This is the worst VR game that I have played so far in 2024. I don't have really anything nice to say about it. I don't even know how to describe the game experience. It's a mish mash of ideas. I guess the best way to describe this game is that it is 3 mini-game collection. You have your escape room (online or offline), a hockey mini-game (online only) and a story mode. I don't know what the story mode is, but I suspect it was a horror game .. maybe. All I know is that after starting the story mode, after the intro, I spawned with half my body under the ground. I was stuck with no way to get out except to manually quit. So I proceeded to the hockey game. This was the best experience. Except you can't play it solo. You need to convince a friend to buy this trash fire in order to play with somebody online. That's probably never going to happen. Lastly there was the escape room. I genuinely tried to play this game. The problem was that I was getting about 20 frames per second on my RTX 3080. There are no graphical options. In fact, there are no settings whatsoever. Game is running on the Unity Engine. You have full locomotion and smooth turning. That was the best part of the game (having full locomotion and smooth turning). The game overall was a jittery mess. I don't know if the grab interactions were broken or if the frame rates being so low were the cause of me having difficulty picking stuff up. In any event, the game is an unplayable mess. It's ugly to look at too. Plus, I think it has a song that is AI (it's a country song about hockey). I also think the voice overs are AI written and spoken too. There may not be a single original asset in this whole game. Rate 2/10. I wouldn't recommend this game even if it were being given away for free. Avoid!
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. I've been watching this game grow since it started as one escaped room beta on quest 2 / sidequest in October 2023. lol. So much has grown and changed, which is really cool to see. Pretty much got to grow with the game. With that said, this Such an underrated experience by a talented solo developer. I've never seen any other games made by a single person in VR that looks like this. You can use your fists, guns, pretty much anything in the world you can grab to hit enemies. Great haunted exploration experience, reminiscent of silent hill and resident evil. Creepy foggy atmosphere that actually makes you feel cold while playing. Game is definitely a vibe. definitely recommended.
Great atmospheric horror. The game has it's own style and isnt cut & paste like the other VR games. The Graphics look amazing & remind me of being in a actual horror film. The game mechanics remind me of bone labs / blade and sorcery where you can use your hands as weapons to fight enemies. Good amount of new firearms and random things to kill enemies with. I used a melon on the kitchen table to squashed it over a enemy... Feels like an indie version of silent hill / resident evil, but made with VR in mind. You'll get chills down your spine as you work your way through levels looking for buttons. All the controls work perfect for me, had a lot of fun slapping around Minecraft looking characters. lol. Definitely a spooky game, looking forward to the new updates / full release in October.
