I'm sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unless they had incredible patience. The mechanics are so confusing to learn. The story is interesting and full of palace drama. There's a cool child-rearing and assassination component to the game too. Plus, there's more than one love interest. However, the Diamond system ruins the whole game. This is a mobile game on the app store. And it still plays like one on Steam. Diamonds are premium currency in the game that you can exchange for stats, skills, items, outfits, money, relationships. Basically EVERYTHING! The problem is that to get Diamonds, you need Points. To get Points, you press a "play button" (which would have given you an ad in the mobile version). Each time you press the play button, you get 1 point. ONE POINT! YOU NEED 3 POINTS FOR A SINGLE DIAMOND!!! VIP maids and outfits can cost more than 500 Diamonds! Even the game says you need to redeem MORE THAN 2000 Diamonds for it to be considered "easy" mode! Hard mode is labeled as anything less than 500! Imagine having to press that stupid button over 6,000 times.....to get more than 2,000 Diamonds. There's even a slight delay when pressing the button too. So, it's not as fast as you think..... TL;DR: Good story, but the Diamond system ruins the game. Please just remove it from the Steam version or make it easier to receive a higher sum.

I have the other devs game ;Diamond Runway and despite some flaws and ai characters had a great time with the romance and characters, I was most excited for this one as a huge fan of chinese palace life and concubines! disregard my hours haha still in first early chapter but i'm enjoying this one immensely. If you like ancient chinese palace settings and are intrigued to play as a concubine making her way up and with 5 romanceable characters including the possessive and attractive emperor himself look no further. Pros and cons for now- Pros- -5 romanceable characters seems about 3 men and 2 women but i'll play further//edit- 5 male romanceables so it's a lovely true palace otome :) though you can befriend high ranking palace ladies to help you which was nice. -comforting music despite the repetition its quite calming -dressup section thats enjoyable as it can influence scene stats for character favor and your overall ranking -the emperor haha he feels cold and is described as possessive may not be for everyone but i'm all for it -overall just an enjoyable setting for ancient palace life enthusiasts who wanna step in the shoes of a fictional concubine cons- -No skip button; if there is one haven't found it i'll keep checking -if you dont care for similar style chinese games that generate attractive ai characters may not be your thing, it doesn't bother me however -currently there is a bug where the menu is unable to be accessed at any point, will wait for the dev to address -massively like that gems can be gotten for anything versus previous mobile version however only getting one gem per click when i'm at a choice requiring 2000 gems and 1 gem is equivalent to 30 points, would love a less wrist hurting more accessible way to choose how many points and or gems we'd like or input the amount we'd like as I don't do well with wrist pain and having to constantly click. My consensus good value for a fun palace life story that seems to really have some great branching sections whether with other consorts/petty fights or simply friendship and romance :) recommend if you dont mind the current cons and love chinese historical settings.

This game is SO GOOD. I'm shocked there isn't more publicity or tbh awards, the value for money is insane, the replayability is beyond any game I've played in ages. This game just hits all the right spots for me, it's strategy and resource management, otomo style with multiple romance options and about a billion different endings. I can't image the work it took to write out a branching storyline game like this, but it's so coherent and cohesive. The writing is convincing, appropriate to the time period and very legible, names get confusing some times but for a game of this size its so minor. 10/10 game, will keep playing for the foreseeable future.

I have enjoyed the game for what it is, the story is interesting and I would love a way to see the events from the emperor's point of view. Issues is the need for gems and clicking a button to gain the gems is horrible...so I would suggest an auto clicker and leaving it for a couple of hours. Another negative is sentence structure and writing is a bit weird....disliked the character always referring to herself in third person when talking , Overall I have enjoyed the story line and found it interesting and for $10, I was happy enough.

Very good so far, I have already died once, but I still love it. Very involved and so much you can do!
