Exellent game if you just want to vibe and get into a flow state of dismantling a ship, as you get better you start to get faster which is its own reward. The only gripe i have with the game is the story itself and its connection to the gameplay your employer who ships you from earth to space and clones you with (functionally infinite lives) charges you 1.2 billion dollars for the privlige to work for them, evil megacorp check, in lore they nickle and dime you and find every excuse to prevent you from paying this off, once again evil megacorp this is where it loses steam, you make thousands to millions every day during your 15-minute shift on a ship you aren't actually penalized for messing up, oxygen may cost thousands of dollars, but that's like a fraction of your daily earnings the second issue is Lou, your co-worker, who on your very first day of work signs you up for the very "illegal" union chat group and newsletter, Unions which the universe at large (due to propaganda) considers terrorism. She takes every opportunity to talk crap about the company and talk about it .... on company comms, in habs supplied oxygen by the company who owns the rights to your cloned body, since you died the moment, you joined because cloning you kills you I like like 99% of the cast, even the evil middle manager is fun to hate... but Lou does everything in her power to almost get everyone fired... when they still owe millions of dollars to the company store
fun? yes. satisfying? yes. frustrating as hell when something goes wrong from a tiny oversight? absolutely. also surprisingly well optimized for a modern game. even on my old, non-gaming laptop it ran without much trouble.
while this game is certainly not fast paced, it does require a bit of thinking when planning on how to 'scrap' each ship. there is not any enemies or weapons in the game, which is a nice change for a FPS. If you are lookin g for a virtual career simulator, you should give this one a try.
Amazing fun
It's a good time, basically just a puzzle game.
Hardspace: Shipbreaker is quite a unique game and incredibly fun to play, especially on the Deck. The ship progression within the game keeps things fresh, and I personally liked the characters throughout. My only gripe was with tool upgrades, as I felt other than a couple they didn't add meaningfully to the gameplay. I look forward to seeing what other games await within the Hardspace universe! 5/5
Didn't expect a story, but it was actually a fun ride. The side stories and audio logs, though? They felt aggressively preachy at times. Like, chill—it was laying it on so thick that it became distracting.
