Hard Work

This VN was an extremely pleasant surprise for me. I honestly bought it (on sale) primarily because of a few specific fetishes; the busty redhead; and the catgirl, and wasn't expecting a whole lot otherwise. But it's genuinely one of the better overtly erotic VNs I've done this year for a variety of reasons. The story is admittedly more than a little absurd, but in a delightfully fun way. One of the core premises of this fictional world that distinguishes it from our own is that "sexual counseling" has evolved as a legitimate form of psychological therapy, wherein specially licensed counselors use sex acts with their client(s) as a means to solve real-world problems. In the context of this specific story, this means that the protagonist, Gary (who runs a business to this effect, naturally) is given an opportunity for a "partnership" with a fictitious Fortune 500 company to provide this service to 1 employee out of a pool of 3 choices (all extremely sexy early 20-something girls, naturally) for 7 days as part of a pilot program before expanding the service to anyone in the whole company who wants it. Early in the game, you're presented with a series of choices that not only determine which of the 3 girls you spend the entire week with, but also confer almost every "gameplay" achievement that isn't simply progress through their respective stories. You spend literally each and every one of those 7 days helping her out with her job problems, and 7 nights having some form of (typically increasingly kinky) sex with her. All this (and the catgirl) requires more than a bit of suspension of disbelief - but no more than a lot of anime, and a substantial plurality of other fiction. So that really shouldn't be a major problem unless you already know this much isn't for you. There are several parts where even the most accepting users might raise a Spock eyebrow, but there's enough humor to defuse them fairly quickly: it's clearly all in good-natured, tongue-in-cheek fun. On a micro-scale, the writing is generally decent enough quality - not exactly the greatest VN fare I've encountered, but definitely in the top third or so - but quite enjoyable, which is the most important thing. Each girl has a different personal problem causing her job performance to suffer (not-really-spoiler alert: all 3 pretty much eventually boil down to confidence), and your task as part of the aforementioned pilot program is to help her deal with it through both conventional means and straight-up ⨍⋃Ⅽκery. This is accomplished in different ways that are extremely odd by real-world standards, but actually make sense in-universe (again, note my use of anime as a point of reference). The girls' personalities are unique, which also shows up in their sexual tastes: Scarlett the busty redheaded HR head is reserved but methodically adventurous, Celeste the petite dark-haired intern is ambitious and [i]extraordinarily[/i] horny and kinky, and Katya the ditzy catgirl "Motivation Manager" is a lovable airhead who is incredibly straightforward and voracious. Each of their sex scenes largely conforms to "type" for their characters, but - as odd as it sounds - gradually starts to genuinely help them solve their problems. (Well, at least Scarlett's and Katya's actually correspond somewhat; Celeste's seem mostly random and unconnected.) The artwork is excellent. Backgrounds are beautifully done and [i]extremely[/i] detailed (take a look at some of the small Easter eggs visible in the girls' living rooms and bedrooms), and the character designs and sprites are superb. All 3 girls are gorgeous and extremely sexy, and are notably visually distinct (though Celeste and Katya share a vaguely similar build aside from their breasts) to offer a lot of nice variety in the lewds. All 3 girls have sprites in a "regular" work outfit, some form of pajama attire, and nude. Both Katya and Celeste have an "alternate" work-related outfit that kinda serves a story purpose (I now genuinely can't recall if Scarlett does), but that I feel were included more just for the sake of a cute little extra for the artist to have fun with. The spicy CGs/scenes are very well done, with something like 9 iterations apiece to simulate animation, and cover a stunningly broad variety of erotic material. [spoiler]Foot fetish[/spoiler]? Check.[spoiler]Nylon stockings[/spoiler]? Same scene. [spoiler]Rope bondage[/spoiler]? We got [spoiler]a shibari suspension[/spoiler]! [spoiler]Shower sex[/spoiler]? Glub. [spoiler]Female masturbation[/spoiler]? Yup. [spoiler]Girl-on-girl[/spoiler]? Surprisingly! [spoiler]Sex in public[/spoiler]? You better believe it. Celeste's path in particular features a few relatively more extreme, unusual fetishes ([spoiler]food as a sex toy, lactation, and oviposition[/spoiler]) that were not necessarily my cup of tea, but far be it from me to kink-shame. Her path also includes a [spoiler]consensual non-consent home invasion bondage kidnap/rape[/spoiler] scene that was actually shockingly hot. The music is actually excellent! The soundtrack is quite welcome as DLC. Sound effects are also well-engineered, and perfectly suit their roles in the story. There's unfortunately no character voice work, but that's neither particularly surprising nor a larger than token disappointment. I have something like 70 hours into it with one complete run-through of all 3 paths as of this writing, but I'm also a notoriously slow reader and really took my sweet time - especially in the early decision tree with all the achievements, and the erotic scenes. I would guess that a "normal" user would likely find something in the ballpark of 15-25 hours worth of content depending on how fast you read. The devs mentioned in a Jan. 2019 announcement that they had plans to (among other updates) eventually add paths for the MC's female coworker Rose and the female President Hart of the big company. However.... Absolutely nothing further seems to have come of that in nearly 4 full years now, this is still the only title ever put out by that dev team in all that time, and their last Twitter update (advertising a permanent price drop) was well over a full year ago in Aug. 2021. I think it's safe to say that, regardless of that announcement, this title (and seemingly the entire dev team) has been abandoned. Still, all-in-all, it's a delightful little erotic comedy romp that I can highly recommend even at full price.
